Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe.... I haven't even finished it, don't know that I ever will... what a snooze-fest. I forced my way through about half , but my eyes may actually bleed if I try to read more. It's like an unrealistic textbook for being desterted on an island with a flat pompous turd for a main character: BORING!!! |

I actually use Visine Allergy I(I'm sure any allergy eye drop would work) to take the red out before using concealer. Always works well for me. Because it's for allergies, not only does it help with the redness it will help prevent that "itchy" feeling a breakout can get.

I'd be careful about doing too much of the job hunting for him. I see alot of posts about people working to find jobs for their SO's, filling out applications etc... What's the deal with that? I'm all for offering help and passing along job ads etc. but if they can't get off their duff and make an effort... Does no one else see what's wrong with that situation? Ok so I know OP said that her bf is also looking so the above rant is not directed at her, except as a word of caution. Speaking from experience: When my bf started school I did the same thing, I hassled him to apply, I registered his courses for him yadda yadda yadda and then one day through a mistaken click of a key I registered him for the wrong course. He FLIPPED. So I told him that's it, I'm done, either YOU want to do it or you don't. I realized I can't make his decisions for him and he realized he needed to take some responsibility for his life. I'm not his caretaker or personal assistant and now we can talk about his plans and school etc without me making a checklist. I got in over my head by offering to do too much because I wanted him to use the potential I see in him, when I should have just encouraged him to see it in himself. |

I like to seed and skin my otmatoes (I just find the skin SOOOOO nasty) If you cut a shallow X in the bottom of a tomato and drop into boiling water for 20 sec then run under cold water the skin will peel right off. Then I cut in quarter and scoop out the seeds with a spoon. After this I would still reccomend patting with a paper towel to get the last bit of water off. Even when I use tomato slices with the seeds in I always pat with a paper towel so my sandwiches don't go soggy. |

I love me all kinds of books! Reccomendations: My Year of Meats by Ruth Ozeki = harder to find and yet brilliant! Prep by Curits Sittenfield = she has a real knack for characters The Road to Mars by Erice Idle = for when you need a good laugh The Count of Monte Cristo By Alexandre Dumas = make sure you get the Penguin Classics release (it's still a cheap paperback) because it has a better more recent translation of the original text which enhanced the character depth (even in minor characters). It has a rather good introduction as well. It's long though, so you'll have to hunker down (mind you I couldn't put it down!) The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay = if your into fantasy, Canadian author, extremely well written, actually a series of three books. If you like it look for the sort -of sequel Ysabel. I have read all of his books, this trilogy was the one that hooked me, a great starter though I consider Last Light of the Sun to be my favorite of his. Wicked by Gregory Maguire = I still have no idea how they made a musical out of this. I guess I saw alot more darkness in the book than others? (I read it WAAAAAY before the musical was written). I haven't cared for his other books as much except for Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister which was quite marvelous as well. I love this thread! I could go on forever, but I will stop now... Edited to add: The Townhouse by Tish Cohen = going to be making a movie of it which I'm sure they will buthcher. I can't believe I forgot this book it's in my top 5 best of all time! |

I walked in to find the cat lounged on the chair like he was king of the room, master of his domain; confident in that smokey shade of charcoal that makes me yearn for a warm fire, his old sole beckoned me to touch his downy fur. Edit: Forgot to add a plain sentence: My dinner has gone cold. |

Yep, he's beeing sneaky fo' sho! It may have been his dumbass way of trying to get you to initiate a "meet up", hence you wouldn't be just online friends anymore. But if that's the way he goes about it, he sounds like a dolt. I'd let him have it, ask him why he messaged you if he didn't want to be online friends. Then I'd tell him if he doesn't want to be friends anymore he can sod off. If you are ok being IM friends only than that's fine, but that's a bold sign that he doesn't want to ever be anything other than an IM buddy, don't expect to be going out for Friday drinks with the gang or anything. I'd probably throw in a veiled insult about weinie guys who don't have the guts to ask a girl out instead of flirt in IM (if you got "that" sort of feel from him like he maybe wanted to but didn't)... but I'm not exactly a people person.

We once had a cat that fell in love with our next door neighbor, after a while he just moved in over there, I guess he decided it was a better deal. Cats are funny that way. Maybe you should consider getting her a collar with a tag that has your contact info so that they know she has a home and isn't a stray. Then if they call you could explain about the flea meds/special food etc. |

The ones in my neighbourhood play a mix of punjabi music (we live a few blocks from a temple) and circus-y music... and it's all in that beep-beep-boop ice cream truck chime style. How did they find punjabi music like that? Or did they create it themselves? I do not know, but it must work... and ITS LOUD, like so loud you have to pause if your watching TV because you can hear nothing else! I wonder if they sell frozen curry on a stick? On second thought, I'd rather not find out... |

I can't stand the fake soy based meat substitutes anymore... they just seem so processed to me now... I am all about the Money's Garden Burgers! I don't remember all the ingredients or cals, but they are made with rice and mushrooms and a little (tiny, tiny, so tiny an amount I have to add my own) cheese and some other stuff too. I have them with JD's Spicy BBQ sauce, cheese, relish, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce etc. on a homemade onion bun... OH YEAH! |

Oh yes Horrorpops... so good, but there just wasn't room in my list... And Man Man, I was listening to that this morning!! Oh oh oh AND Austrian Death Machine too!!! "You is your dad-dee and what does he dooo!!!" Mamarose: I heart Foreigner too! A few years back we saw them live during Stampede with Lou Gramm back singing... he was so chubby and out of shape he had to stop after every song and towel off. However in his defense, he sounded as good (for serious!) as he did in their heyday and I heard he had some medical problems that caused the weight gain.

I don't have a car right now (I'm saving those pennies though!) My car problem is different, everytime I go to cross the street in a crosswalk with a walk/don't walk light, a bazillion cars show up and none of them stop. No word of a lie I waited on the corner right by my house for 10 minutes yesterday. I could see the house, all I wanted to do was go home, but NOOOO! Yes, I made it obvious I was trying to cross, no I'm not crazy enough to jump in front of moving cars, and no this is not a mjaor roadway. It will be completely bare until I need to cross and then everyone shows up! |

So far I have eaten a banana, a gala apple, an orange and a granola bar with almonds (yummy!) for breakfast and I am stuffed. Should carry me through to lunch, though I may eat a handful of almonds if I get hungry before. I find I really have to stuff myself in the morning to keep myself focused... Anyways, for lunch I was thinking either a tuna or veggie sandwich with unsweetened iced tea. Dinner will be spaghetti squash sauted with garlic, salt and pepper, a heap of green beans and probably a couple of biscuits or some baby roasted potatoes! |

I caught our kitty Ripley sleeping the bathroom sink downstairs the other day... what a nutter! She was out cold. She also squeeks at us right before she goes to sleep. She won't let my bf shower with the door closed (I think she's got him pegged as a softy!) She also likes to sit on his shoulder while he's trying to do his class assignments. She doesn't like moist cat food at all... only kibbles for her... so strange. She also has to sniff everything we eat, she won't try to eat it off the plate, but she has to snif everything before we can eat it (btw the smell of carrots terrifies her!) The funniest though is when she climbs up the side of her kitty condo with a toys in her mouth and flails around like King Kong! |

We were raised without any religious guidance, my mom always encouraged me to follow whatever I wanted. Both she and my dad are agnostic as well. So I wouldn't label me as anything really (agnostic I suppose if I must be labelled). I don't pray, I don't believe in anything specific and I am happy that way. My religion is my instinct in a way, I follow my gut. I always find it so unsettling when people try to push their religion on you. It's awkward for everyone involved and it's never going to change my mind. I would never try to talk someone into dropping their religion. I had some catholic friends growing up and the funny thing was their parents never attempted to sway me, but they themselves did as children (the influence of pastors etc I suppose). Now these people have turned out to be some of my favourite people that I have ever known, but I did at one point have to explain to a few that I don't appreciate being forwarded emails about god, being expected to pray at meals (I was more than happy to sit respectfully and wait until they had however), or expected to attend church with them because I happened to be there when they were leaving. Conversely, I never expected them to change their behaviour for me either. A mutually understanding respectful friendship was all I ever asked. I'm all for everyone being happy and tolerant of everyone else; to each their own is right on. |

I usually get a hug and kiss from my wondeful bf, then I grab my kitty and curl up with a book for a good read n' snuggle. This works for all forms of feeling crappy (sick, annoyed, sad, stressedd, worried) The exception is anger, if I am really pee'd off I clean (and I mean clean like a maniac!) |

OMG this reminds me of the time I misheard the delivery guy at the door (he had a thick accent) and ended up giving him like a $0.30 tip. After I saw the receipt on the side of the pizza box I was so mortified I nearly called the pizza place to apologize! I actually order pizza again only a few days later just so I could give him a double tip to make up for it (good thing we always had the same guy). I always tip big for delivery, those guys put up with alot of crap, not to mention crazy traffic! |

We had several litters of kittens from our cat, and if she's quite visibly pregnant she's probably looking for a safe warm place to stash her kittens when the time comes. Hence the reason she won't leave you alone. Especially if you have ever stopped to pet her or taken pity and given her a snack. A suggestion: While you are looking for a safe home for her, I would recommend finding medium sized cardboard box (something that would fit mama and a few babies without too much extra space), close the top off and cut a pregnant mama cat sized hole in the middle of one side (make sure the hole is high enough so the little kitties won't wander off should she give birth before you can find her help), to make a kitty cave for her. (You can throw in an old towel or newspaper to help keep some of the ground chill off). Then put the box somewhere where safe for her where it won't get wet or be too exposed. Hopefully she'll take to it and make a little home there. In my experience, mama cats like this because they only have one angle to defend from, it keeps the babies coralled and safe, and helps keep the litter warm. Good luck finding a home for her! I can't believe shelters would kill a pregnant cat, that's so horrible! We got our new kitty from our Humane Society and it was refreshing to see how well cared for their cats were (older cats included) and what lengths they go to to make sure all of those cats find a loving home! |

My favorite used to be Levi's Silver Tab Button Fly Straight Leg, but they don't make them anymore :( I found my first pair of jeans in 7 years that I will actually wear: Silver Aiko Low Rise Bootcut. I have a fairly long torso, but a low belly button and wider hips. So I usually end up with a size bigger to fit the hips and then they are too high in the waist *sigh*. But these new jeans rock! The are a bit higher in the back and lower in the front with room in the hips no less so they solve my problem (and prevent plumber butt). I bought them in a 31 but now I'm thinking I probably could've gone for the 30, but I do prefer a looser fit... |

This is a firecracker of a topic!I work in an office building full of grown and they don't always remember to flush after a #2! What is that?!? I totally foot flush. I figure if other people are using their feet, I'm using mine! And I also despise the hover pee. I have been sitting on toilet seats for 23 some odd years and I've never contracted anything from the seat. That's a record I proudly stand by. On a side note, my bf can use the washroom (urinal or regular toilet public or at home) without ever touching it. Which is a feat if you consider that as a rule we always leave the seat down after use. And to add an only slightly related beef, why do the majority of public toilets not work properly? The either don't flush all the way (too low flow), the handle needs to be held down, the auto flush doesn't work, or (and my least favorite) the ones that launch a whirlpool of water at you! (if you're ever in the Kelowna airport ladies, avoid the toilets right before the security checkpoint. DANGER!) |
