what about swimming? I've been told it is low intensity and you do burn a ton of calories. Are you able to swim? |

| Young Calorie Counters | What if in every restaurant the calorie content was listed right beside the picture? | Jul 07 2008 01:57 (UTC) |

this would be amazing, but then many restaurants would probably go bankrupt such as fast food chains, burger diners, and many fancy restaurants. People will learn toward eating salads and few would eat the 1000 calorie cheesecake or the 850 calorie burger which is awesome for health, but many people would lose a ton of money. So people are kinda banking on people being ignorant. It is very sad that very few people are aware of what they consume and are unaware of the fact that they just chowed down on 2500 calories for lunch in one sitting. This is why 1 out of 3 Americans are overweight/ have diabetes. More people need to be educated on what to eat and what not to eat. It is very sad that finding a simple garden salad that is served to a filling quantity is hard to find and or asking for one automatically comes with dressing on it. If one is not sure attentive to what they consume, you can find yourself 5 pounds heavier in the blink of an eye |

| Weight Loss | sleeping or waking = burn more calories? | Jul 07 2008 01:27 (UTC) |

this is true. I compared calories once on CC and its pretty silly how much you burn in an hour of sleep. Therefore, I changed my 6 hours of sleep to 8.5 hours a sleep per night instead of watching T.V. |

If your worried about gaining weight not eating is the worse thing you could do. Since your intake today was higher than usual, I would recommend eating a handful of strawberries or another low calorie fruit like a small green apple here and there. Also something light weight like a garden salad with no dressing would do the trick. Binge eating is never a good thing to do to one's self. What one should do is eat smaller meals six times a day. Doing this turns your metabolism on fire rather than changing into starvation mode. Starvation mode happens when goes without food for more than 4 hours at a time. If you are happy with your weight, eating less than 1400 Cal/day will cause you to lose weight. However you also need to have a healthy balanced food plan and you also need to mind what you are drinking. As for tomorrow, I can only imagine it going up a LITTLE bit but really don't be worried about it because everyone's weight changed daily. It is okay to be one pound bigger for a day, just avoid the binge feelings. I would talk to your doctor about how you can overcome your ED. Living with an ED is no way to live and very stressful both mentally and physically. Increasing your calories is a very good thing to do but your doctor is the best tool you have to better understand what you are going through and then having that basis you can depend on yourself come through |

My mom and I have tried the red and green kind. We like the red cactus pears the most. Apparently it is a good fruit for those with high bp and high blood sugar. It is also high in fiber from what I understand of it. |
