maybe im being overly sensitive bc my previous boss and co workers used to make comments and it wasnt coming from a joking place, my boss would say "you need to go workout"  "ugh your need to eat more, you have no body fat".

first off im not sickly skinny okay ive been to doctors before and theyve never said i needed to gain weight. i have meat on my bones i just have a small frame.

i feel like i wasnt respected professionaly and i think that was part of the reason.

i worked with two veterinarians who were very thin also and my coworkers would also make fun of them behind thier back even too thier face and speculate that they didnt eat.

im thinking to myself if you really thought someone had a problem eating why would you be an **** and make fun of them.

Maintaining ladies 5'2 around 100-105lbs Jul 18 2008

i eat whenever im hungry but when i actually kept track i realized that my caloric intake was not consistent some days i would eat 800 cals and some days i would eat as much as 3000 so yeah i unknowingly zig zag, but i think most people who dont count calories do this. i  would say im slighly active, now so my weight is 105. when i work fulltime my weight drops to 100 (yikes) because im on my feet 13 hours a day, i walk everywhere and my job is physically demanding so when i work alot i dont exersise or i  will become more underweight. when i worked alot i also eat a TON i mean i had such a ravenous appetite,  and i still had  hard time staying above 100.

so i would say eat when your hungry eat healthy most of the time but also eat sweets when you want to. focus more on increasing your metabolic rate by moving alot building muscle, taking in lots of protein.

highest 109?

happiest 105

i know once i start working fulltime ill be back at 100 bc i walk everywhere, and eat a ton (i mean high calorie fatty foods)  i want to stay at 105 because i think its my bodies natural set point , it seems unatural to maintain anything higher or lower than 105.

yes i was just reading the other day about how asian people have bones that are more porous, and higher body fat is normal for for them.

african americans have more denser heavier bones then caucasians and are supposed to have less body fat

so my body fat % is supposed to be less then 20% (mines is 18.5%)

i suggest the following

short term solution  PRUNE JUICE, SUPPOSITORIES, ENEMA

long term solution

  • EAT yogurt every day (i prefer High Mountain  yogurt) it contains live cultures(friendly bacteria) that promotes regularity, and a healthy immune system.
  • drink plenty of water and eat foods high in fiber aim for 35 grams a day
  • STAY AWAY from white bread its like ingesting glue and will make you even more costipated. only eat breads with high fiber content 4 grams or more.
  • lastly go  when you have to go because you dont want to hold toxins in your body.

heres a list of high fiber foods:

oranges

prunes

blackberries

strawberries

apples

steel cut oatmeal

cracklin oatbran (my favorite cereal of all time)

lentels

any kind of bean

brocoli

my two cents

i  wouldnt really pay attention to bmi bc it doesnt take into concideration body type or body fat %

for example; a female athelete may be concidered overweight for her height(according to the bmi chart) and have a 12% body fat.

yup. i plan to measure my success with bf% &how hard/well &long i can do my turbo jam exercises.

bmi is wack.

dude i know its not a good indicator of health sh** i know someone who is 5'8" and 105lbs!!! and she is naturally like that, she eats her mother out of house and home and is obsessed with GAINING weight.  bmi would classifie her as emaciated even though shes obviously not.

starve, binge, starve, binge, starve,binge.

ive read somewhere that during that week your body is preparing for a baby so your body sends hormones to your brain to stimulat appetite so you eat more  and thus store enough  fat

i think my body's preparing for triplets Surprised

i do think someone can be concidered underweight and be healthy as horse but this usually pertains to someone who is naturally underweight(genetic freak who eats crap and doesnt gain an ounce.)

i figure a goal weight is safe if...

A) you have enough body fat to still get your period; if your reproductive system shuts down thats concidered the beginning of ORGAN FAILURE.

B) your healthy, meaning you dont make yourself sick, dont have any vitamin deficiencies,  your properly fulling your body, basically your bright eyed bushy tailed not tired and hungry.

C) you can actually maintain the weight long term, if you think youll starve your self for a while until you reach the goal then you go back to normal, your only kidding yourself, bc youll gain it all back and thien some.

well once i actuatually kept track of my caloric intake for about a week 6 months ago and i noticed that i was unknowingly undereating, like some days i would eat only like 700cals and others i would eat as much as 3000. i worked at an emergency animal hospital and was on my feet for more than 12 hours and day and i was lucky if i got to sit and eat lunch and when i would finally get home i was too stressed and tired to cook anything so i would just eat a bag of chips or a candy bar and go to sleep. but since i joined this site ive actually been taking in about 1900 cals on average, with 60 grams of protien and 30 grams of fiber.i dont  purposely undereat its just when im stressed the last thing i think about is food, and i get all hyper and cant relax.

Young Calorie Counters Do you still feel flabby/fat even though people call you skinny? May 06 2008

Original Post by jitterbug89:

OK so I think I would definitely fit into this category. I know I'm not fat but I feel like I have a lot of fat on my body and that I'm not very fit. A lot of times people are always like you're so skinny, but, I know that they don't seem my stomach or my thighs so I want to fix that. I've always hated my abs and I feel that they've never been anything but flabby. So if you only need to lose 5-15lbs and you want to tone up so that you think you're skinny too then post your stats and we'll start a weekly group with weigh-ins and support. I'll start:

Age: 18

Height:5.5 1/2

Starting Weight: 128

Goal Weight: 115

Part you want to tone up:
abs & thighs

Favorite part: My booty! haha

yeah alot of skinny people are flabby(ectomorph) with is why im working on gaining 5lbs of muscle wich is going to be hard i have a hard time gaining muscle its so annoying. i hate when people assume that if your thin then you dont need to work out wich is WRONG, that is all the more reason to work out. if your a small fraimed women then you NEED strenghth training to prevent osteoporosis.

"are you sure all women can build muscle and look slim?"-garnet18

the answer is not really. If you are built or toned you are not slim. I work out daily. I weight train, and I'm a dancer. I have massive legs. Even last night when i was wearing a pair of shorts before bed my boyfriend said "holy ****! you have massive thighs!" and there is no fat on them, all muscle and they are huge. It's hard to prevent bulging muscles. If you condition those muscles they get strong and bigger. I have rather large biceps for my size too. The six pack is trying to break through but no matter what i still have a little pooch. It's annoying! Any one know how to get rid of it? I do cardio daily Frown and nothing makes it go away! Grr the body of women! lol

your muscles are getting bigger because you're weight training. also, dancers only have bulky legs when they're working incorrectly. the only "large" part of a dancer should be the inner thighs and hamstrings.

also, i think six packs only show on people with REALLY low body fat percentages (like unhealthily low.. but i could be wrong)

yep ive heard that a women has to have 8 % body fat for a six pack

okay this is kind of off topic but ive been thinking about it lately.someone told me what pro-ana is and it sounds so strange.how can you be pro mental illness, or pro-depression. its kind of disturbing and a little insulting to the people that really struggle with this. the little nick name thing  is kinda creepy, is this some kinda fad among highschoolers?

It doesn't matter if it's an example.  NO ONE should go BELOW 1200 calories a DAY.

Try this. Average 1500 calories.

1500
1700
1400
1600
1700
1500
1300

(lose at least 2lbs that week)

Depending on how much excercise you do on the weekend is how much you should eat, someone like me, I don't do too much on the weekend so I don't eat much Friday and Saturday and early sunday, but the rest of the week I probably average around 1500-1800 calories and I am losing weight, you should not lose more than 1-2lbs a week.  If you drink lots of water and eat spicy things, that will also boost your metabolism.

Hopefully I remembered how to do this, feel free to correct me, but I do know, that no matter what, you do not go below 1200 calories no matter WHO you are.

if your 4"11 then under 1200 id acceptable

How many people on CC are actually 4'11" and under?  I am sure that it is not a majority so it would rarely apply to someone.  Which, btw, someone under 4'11" would still need more than 1200 calories to maintain

Example:

Someone who is sedentary 4'11" and 91.5lbs (BMI of 18.5 - the lowest they can go for a healthy weight) would need around 1500 calories to maintain their weight.  They will need more calories if they were a teenager or active.

(Resources used were the CC Burn Meter and this Dieting Calculator)

How tall are you?  You have mentioned in previous posts that you are classified as underweight.  Have you discussed your weight with your doctor?

Are you planning on eating your maintenance calories and more when you workout?

You should concentrate more on the quality of your food if you are trying to reduce your body fat percentage.  What is your current body fat percentage?

um okay? i guess your rightFoot in mouth, under 1200 is too low for MOST people but that wasnt my point if someone eats  900 cals one day and 3600plus the next i dont really see the problem. im not suggesting someone under eat i was just trying to give an example of what zig zagging was.

yeah im naturally slightly underweight have been that way all my life, my doctor actually said im very healthy and to stay thin bc high blood pressure type 2 diabetes runs in my family.

yah i eat more when i work out(it make me hungry),i dont want to end up catobolizing muscle, for the past two yearts ive worked hard to put on muscle on but i have a hard time keeping it, i think its diet related but im trying to fix that wich is why im here, to learn how to take  care of myself.
