Thanks for your responses!  I like the idea of the anti-cellulite massage... though I never had such a painful massage!  This is encouraging - I'm going to try the towel thing & work through the pain...

... until I look like I was thrown from a moving vehicle?

Original Post by m0m6:

to POOHB: I started out at the same weight. My doctor told me to take my pre-pregnancy cal intake and add 300-400 calories to that, if I want to have enough cal for breast feeding. Also, small snacks through out the day help with the weight loss too.

Thanks m0m!  Heh, that sounds funny.  I'm going to try adding 300 and see how it goes.  It will be an experiment that I can learn from only by sticking with it, which is the hard part, but I shall try!  I MUST start getting back into my regular clothing, it's ridiculous!

I'm a mother of a 3 month old.  (Not to mention my 8 yo, 6 yo, & 3 yo!)  I'm nursing, and with my other kids I did so until they stopped being interested!  Maybe that happened sooner before since I was working (pumping at work) & now I'm home & only give bottles infrequently.

Anyway, before baby I was fluctuating in the 147 area.  Now I'm a whopping 172!!!  I can't believe I put on 25 lbs of FAT during my pregnancy!  I'm overwhelmed with the though of trying to reach my goal of 130.

My stats:

32 years old
5'4"
171.8 lbs as of this morning
goal of 130 lbs

MY BIGGEST QUESTION:  How many cals do you think I should be adding per day for nursing?  If CC says I should aim for 1400 cals a day, is 300 the magic number people use for nursing?  Should I aim for 1700?  I heard it could be anywhere between 200 & 500 so I dunno.

Good luck all!

Can't help you with that one, 'hon, but I wanted to tell you what an inspiration your pictures are to me.  I feel a little less hopeless & helpless.  How have you lost all that weight?  Is it mostly the exercise?  How do you stay so motivated?

I just don't think that things ever "go back to normal" after an experience like this - keeping or aborting.  Don't have that delusion.  I hope you make a decision you feel at peace with.  To me, and everyone has their own opinion of course, the choices would be more between keeping the baby & putting the baby up for adoption.

I'm a medical biller.  I just started so I can't give you lots of tips, but I was looking into on-line courses that were a few weeks long.  They recommended learning billing first, which you can work with, & to add coding as well once you knew how to bill.  I ended up training for a few days with a biller my husband (a doc) already knew though.  I will try to find the website that I was looking at since they say they help in placement for work.  Apparently, to make a decent amount doing this, you might want to sign on with more than 1 office.

Here is the website.  Again, I didn't end up using it, but it looked really good.

I might not have helped at all since it's about billing, not coding, but I can't imagine needing 2 years of education for coding either.

Good luck!

It can definitely happen if the body goes into "starvation mode" where it kinda realizes it's not getting enough calories so instead of burning existing fat, it conserves energy by slowing down the metabolism.

If you have the patience, this is a great article that explains it very well.

Skip down to the "Why is she not Losing Weight" section - it's about a page length down.

That is unreal.  I mean, yeah, it really is.  Can't believe they had to make Eva thinner & more shapely either - OMG - is that how real mag pics are?  And the actress for Grey's Izzy - is she NOT already thin enough?  The only untouched besides for color is Halle Berry, right?

That was cool.

My third was the same way.  She first started sitting herself up around 10 months, & I panicked b/c my first 2 were walking between 10 1/2 & 11 months.  I brought her to my friend who is an OT & she said to put her in crawling position & rock her back & forth so her legs "learn" that movement.  She totally cried each time, & instead of crawling she used to push herself on her bottom w/ one hand behind her.  That lasted a few weeks & tada! she started walking when she turned 1.  That is early for walking - though my other kids were freakishly early.

Don't worry!  Unless your doc thinks it's time to worry, each kid moves at their own pace.

Yes!  I missed that too, and if you wouldn't have posted this, Plume, I wouldn't have noticed it.  It's even better than before b/c it shows many more posts on a screen.

I don't shop there often & I agree w/ what a lot of you are saying against it.  However, once a year, twenty cents for a box of Crayola 24 count??  I mean, there are things I just have to stock up on.

Wish I could take one off your hands!  All I have is yogurt & I'm not in the mood for that at all!  I want a grilled salmon salad or something.  Or a muffin.  Er, and a muffin.

Oops.  I didn't mean to tempt you, Lily.  I was talking about egg whites w/ salsa & cheese as my pizza replacement.  Kinda.

Oh, or instead of salsa you could use spinach.  I'm sure much healthier & was my passion for a while but now I'm on to my little healthy pizza replacement.

I was exempt from pre-calc but didn't really remember my stuff so suffered unprepared through calc1 & calc2 in grades & ego as I was always best in math in HS.

I do not remember a thing.

And I have no idea what I would want to do if I could start over.  Bleh.

GH, you can have an egg white omelet!

4 whites, fluffed up well, & fold in it an oz of mozzarella & 2 Tbs salsa - my new fave combo!

Oh, GH, like you I think I was just reacting to someone's opinion that women's shaving practices are uneccessary!  But you're right, any hair that was never shaved is soft... but not necessarily smooth &, you know, mmm, you know... as nice as if it was waxed.

Oh, GH, I was gonna say that too!

Women don't "come" all soft & smooth, ya know?

I was waxing my eyebrows once (never again!) the night I had a date & I got the wax all over 1/2 of one of my eyebrows.  It came down to a choice between going on a date w/ 1/2 an eyebrow missing & going w/ wax on my face.  Ugh.  I don't trust myself anymore!

Hair removal cream lasts about as long as shaving & it smells yucky, & grows back as rough as shaving too.  Unlike waxed hair, pulled out by the roots, temporarily painful but grows back soft & takes much longer.

Why I felt the need to add that information in front of all these men, I don't know.
