I am in the same boat as you! I have lost 15# and felt like I was the same. The last time I measured was about 2 months ago and I lost 14.75 inches over all. I still weigh 164# but I am wearing size 8 pants and dresses! I am going to measure again on Sunday. I am getting frustrated because I have been around 164 for what seems like forever. I am looking forward to measuring and feeling better! Hope my situation helps you. Get a tape measure! :)

Make sure you make a note of what bra and underpants you are wearing when you measure- you know all these new technologies hold things in - you want to make sure to always wear the same thing and measure like once a month. You can do this!

I just had my first time this past Saturday. It was hard but I completed the 5k in 41m30s. During my training I averaged 4.5 mph. I have never been a runner before - this is a new hobby for me.

Good luck on yours!

Oxygen, Shape, Fitness, Self and Women's Health magazines have a lot of workouts on their websites. You can download them for free. Many of them are for a traditional gym but they do have some you can do at home as well. Check them out.

Good luck!

Good morning! I am happy to report that I completed my FIRST 5k today! I ran the entire thing without stopping! I have not been able to do that before now in my training. I am so freaking excited. I will get my final times later but the clock said 41:25 I am so happy! I am on the road to making this a real hobby! My shins were really sore and it was hard but I just kept telling myself I would only get 1 shot at my first 5k and I did not want to say that "I ran my first 5k but... I had to stop x number of times" I could not have done it without the support of my friend Christina who inspired me to do this in the first place. I could not be happier than I am right now!!!

Great job! I am a newbie to running / jogging I guess I should really say. :) I am in a 5k on the 16th. I can jog 2.5 miles on a treadmill like it is nothing but outside I can barely get 2 without feeling like I am going to die! I am so proud of you! You should be so excited!

You are doing great! I have NEVER been a runner and I have been working out hard since April and can barely do 2 miles (outside) without stopping! You can do it!

I did it! I went for 4 miles again this morning - luckily there were no bugs this morning BUT it was sooo hot! Already at 8:45am!?! I do love it here but come on! :)

I jogged the first 2 miles and only had to stop 2x - I did a 12m 30 sec mile!! Can you believe it. I made myself a deal since I did not want to go in the first place I pushed as hard as could for the first half and then I walked back. That only took me 35 minutes that is a 17m 30 sec mile - still not bad. I cannot wait to see how many calories I burned!

I love CC - this is so much fun!

Where exactly are you getting these podcasts and what are they called? Do they have music? I am out for about an hour at a time - do they have some that long?

This morning I am struggling. I do not want to work out at all! I just want to lay on the couch and be lazy! BUT I already took 2 days off this week! UUGGHH I'll let you know how that works out.

Thanks Tankerraid! I am so excited! I am very interested in these podcasts - I am going to have to look into that!

I have not found a bra yet. I have been wearing a regular bra with 2 stretchy sports bras over top - the stretchy ones are a size too small on purpose. It helps but they also cut my ribs - you can't win. I am doing some research - but they are so expensive!!

Update on my progress. My 5k is the 16th and I signed up and paid today. That makes it real to me. I went out tonight to run again - BUT I live in Florida and it has been raining non stop. So tonight I battled gnats and mosquitoes. Let's just say they defeated me. It was awful - I made it 2 miles and I had to stop 3x because they got in my eyes - on the way back I mostly walked because I was miserable. Tomorrow I am totally sticking to the treadmill inside - too many bugs!

Thank you for including me. I am a little ahead of the game on this one though. I have struggled with my weight for what seems to be forever. I have a friend who says "You have been on a diet as long as I have known you and you always look the same!?!" (We have been friends for 15 years). Well I am finally doing something since joining CC I think in April and believe it or not my friend has finally seen a difference. I am already on track to do my very first 5k on 8/16. If this is OK I would still like to be in your group.

I am 32 - no children - married. I am a Commercial Construction Headhunter - what do those Construction husbands do exactly?? :)

I have never been a runner because I have been 'blessed' with curves, I am a 36ddd. You can imagine exercising is difficult with that. I am determined not to let that deter me.  I have been exercising in the gym about 5 days a week since the end of April.

GW will take 155 but would love 145/140

I am fortunate to build muscle fast and I am very evenly proportion - if I was alive in Marilyn Monroe's day I would be one HOT chick! I really want to be healthier for one and for two we want children and I do not want to be a 200+# pregnant girl and I want to be healthy for my unborn child. We have been trying for years off and on with the intensity of it. We have been intense lately and I am frustrated so this 5k is exactly what I need.

I am up to jogging 2.25 miles without stopping on a treadmill at 4.5 mph. I went outside last night and jogged/ walked 4 miles in a little over 55 minutes. I have a friend who is a runner who is helping me. Like I said if you will accept me based upon where I am on - I would love it - but understand if you would rather  not.

Have a great day! It's Friday Eve

Fitness What is your workout schedule at the gym? Jul 24 2008

Well I just started going at 6am before work in the morning. Although it was a transition it is the best thing I have ever done. This way my workout is done before life can interrupt me. I do 30 - 45 minutes on the elliptical because I can burn a lot of calories and it is mindless. At 6am I am mindless. I try to vary the program and the intensity as to not get "too comfortable". I do 10 - 20 minutes of weights everyday. I do legs one day, chest, back and shoulders on another, then another day of legs and then bi's and tri's and start the cycle again. I have lost 12# and 14.75 inches since the end of April. I am fitting into size 8 pants again and I still weigh 167#!! I highly advocate building muscle - being toned is an amazing feeling! I still have a long way to go but this is part of my life now and I love it!

PS I go 5 - 6 days a week.

Well if it is not effecting you - you are VERY lucky! I have been struggling with this the last 2 weeks and I have 'gained' 3#!! I am planning on sitting down today to come up with a plan to get more 'unprocessed' food into my diet. If I just say 'salt' I am bloated for a week! Everyone on here is right - all that extra salt is not good for you BUT I do believe in baby steps. If you are new to this and trying to get your eating under control tackle that first. Once you have made some decent headway on that - THEN proceed to tackling the other areas like better quality food in terms of vitamins and minerals. Personally if I try to change too many things in my life at the same time - it is only a matter of time before I fail at them all. Good luck!

Good news! This part of the inconvenience will be over very quickly. I ate tuna and eggs a lot unfortunately I also had a lot of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes! NOT Healthy. I just got my braces on in March and it is not so bad. You will learn to smoosh things on the roof of your mouth! Good luck

Weight Loss Is it just me, or does the burn meter overestimate? Jun 19 2008

Well I have been keeping close track of all my calories going for a weekly deficit of 5250 a week - and I have been losing just a little over a pound a week. So it is hard to say.

Original Post by gpm55:

In order to supply a female body with the required nutrients (we're talking vitamins and minerals here) you need a fairly healthy 1200 calorie amount of foods. Hence the 1200 nutritional minimum. That's for pretty much any female body.

As far as calories for weight loss is concerned look at the example:

at 5'10" 231 lbs female, my burn meter indicates 2070 BMR at a sedentary level. I burn approx. 730 cals bicycling and swimming, so now my burn meter indicates total calories burned for the day at 2800. To lose one lb. a week, eat 500 calories less (2300), to lose 2 lbs. a week eat 1000 calories less (=1800 calories).

To avoid starvation mode, never eat less than 1000 calories under your burn for the day, better would be only 500 calories less.

I wish I had known this when I started in February 2008 ... I didn't find CC until mid-May, and it appears I underate and messed up my metabolism. Don't know how long it will take to get it back on track.

I love this! It makes so much sense!
