| my high school cross country coach told me this: 'if you cut your hair, you'll lose ten pounds and run faster.' at the time i had straight hair down to about the bottoms of my shoulder blades. i didn't cut it. i was nearly done with college when i decided on a whim to chop it all off above the shoulders. i did not lose ten pounds. i don't even think i lost one, but i've never gone back to long hair. | |||

| i am 5'11/6' (i've been meaning to measure all week and i keep forgetting) and i currently weigh 168. i get the 'you carry it well' comment too. i appreciate it, and i think that i really do look ok, not super stick, but not too soft, but sometimes i wonder if i too am a little delusional. i'm within a healthy bmi, but a bit to the higher side and i'd like to be closer to the lower side. and i have this crazy idea that if i lose 20lbs, and then my husband and i have a child, if i only gain say, thirty pounds, then i won't look too bad because i've been almost that weight.
anyway, i'm with you. i'm tall and sometimes question just how fit i look. |

| we don't have kids yet, but we're hoping for one in the next year or two. i didn't give marriage and kids much thought until i got to those stages of my life. i alway thought i would get married and have kids, but at 17 i wasn't excited about it. hell, i wasn't really excited about our wedding untill it was a week away (wedding planning really sucked for me). and i wasn't excited about kids until we started really talking about the timing of them and things we'd like to accomplish before they came. at 17 i was excited to go to college and get out of my mom's house.
i think when those things come within reach, you'll get excited about them. but how can you be excited about getting married when (i assume) you haven't even met the person you're going to spend your life with? just tell her you're excited to be an adult and all the things that come along with it. |

| 'our song' is a gram parsons' song, a song for you, but at our wedding we danced to whiskeytown's cover of that song. my husband loved the song, and i love just about anything ryan adams sings.
as for now, he usually pulls me close when two by ryan adams and the cardinals comes on. and i second the suggestion of death cab's i will follow you into the dark. it seems a bit dark for a wedding, but the meaning is there. |

| i think facebook and myspace ads cater to your interests, or things you might say in your profile. i've noticed in the past few months (i have accounts with both sites) that there are more and more ads for knitting and baby products. i enjoy knitting, and i'm starting to plan for a family. it's directed advertising. | |||

| we white water raft most weekends. that burns some calories, but most of the time i'm not rowing, so it can still be a day of sitting. i'm not a big beer drinker, but i do make sure we've got plenty of water and i've started drinking a lot of the lower calorie juices or sparkling water and juice (like izzie). i also make sure that when we camp, it's not an excuse to pig out on chips and junk food. i pack a lot of healthy stuff, fruits, veggies, a few chips with dinner. for sweets i've been brining the 100 calorie cookie packs. it is hard, but it's a lot of will power and the desire to finally loose the 15 that i can't seem too. | |||

| Weight Loss | women, what are your goals? | Nov 28 2007 00:10 (UTC) |

| i want to be healthy. i want to be about the weight i was before i met my husband, when i was the healthiest i've ever been as an adult. i'm 5'11 and aiming for 150-155. i also want to get back to that weight for a slightly superficial reason. we want to start a family in the next couple of years and i want to be healthy for the baby, but i also know that if i get to my goal weight and gain 30 pounds while pregnant, i'll still look alright. i've been 178, i wasn't exactly happy, but i know i didn't look that bad. it probably doesn't make much sense, that last part, but i just want to be healthy and toned, not rail thin. my frame will not support rail thin. | |||

| i'm a bride-to-be. september 1, 2007 is our date. i've been trying to lose a few pounds, but i wasn't trying very hard. now i'm more motivated. so hopefully i'll get where i want to be. we just bought a cataraft, and i love to row, so hopefully i'll burn off some weight doing that. other than that i run a few times a week and walk on the weekends with the dog. | |||

| my advice: watch your portions. i know it's totally left field, but i was 20lbs lighter when i lived alone. i read your profile and saw you lost 40lbs (?) congratulations on that! my boyfriend would dish me up dinner (we ate on the couch, bad i know, but we didn't have a table or a bar) anyway, he'd basically put half the food on my plate, and half on his. i'd eat it because it just didn't seem like enough to bother saving, and i didn't want to throw it out. and like an earlier poster said, you kind of have to get used to the hair in the sink. and pick your battles. i've learned that most of the things i fought with other boyfriends about are just not worth fighting about. good luck. | |||

| this might be a little to the left, but maybe he's depressed? maybe not clinical, but enough that he honestly can't work up the energy to work out and takes comfort in food? i don't know. i know how it is to have someone you care about whine all the time about losing weight but doing nothing about it. i have a friend that is that way. love her to death, invited her to come to exercise classes with me and some other girls, no, she's mentioned running with me but when i say yeah, that's a good idea, lets do it, then she says something dumb like 'you run faster, i don't want to slow you down.' please! i'm trying to help. she has some issues, we've talked about them before, so maybe that's what's up with your guy? just a thought. | |||

| i've had that problem. for a while in college i was flat broke, but i worked at a blimpies (like subway). anyway, i was pretty much only eating veggie sandwiches, milk, pasta (no sauce), and mac and cheese. i went home for christmas and had some of grandma's cookin. boy was that a mistake. she howls at me about how much salt i use, but she cooks everything in butter, lard or crisco. i've never hurt so bad in my life! i missed out on two days of snowboarding because i hurt so bad. | |||

| it's not hot sauce, but i just saw an article about this woman that did a 'reverse' diet i think she called it, where she ate dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. basically she's calorie loading early in the day with a better shot at burning them off, but she's lost over 100 pounds i think. interesting. but there is no way i'm going to get up any earlier to make dinner for breakfast. | |||

| i guess i could be considered a 'picky eater.' i don't feel that way, i try everything, but whatever, i don't like mayo and i don't like mustard or ketchup or american cheese, or pickles. ok - i like my stuff plain. so usually the one time i'm craving a burger and i can't get it to go away and give in is the time that even though i say plain, no cheese, it comes with everything. i'm too nice to bitch (unless i'm at applebees or someplace kind of pricy) so i do just what you did. wipe it all down and remove the gunk. this usually leaves me with half a bun and a wiped down pattie. i fold it in half and eat it. yum. | |||

| my grandmother has taught me lots of things over the years, but the one thing that stands out is the one time we were making the bed and she told me that the open ends of the pillow cases should always face the edges of the bed, never the middle. i was probably like 8, but to this day i have always made the bed so that the pillows ends face the edge. | |||
