Is the location of your story an actual place or is it imaginary?  I'm searching my memory and can't recall a place in the Tetons where you could fall off a cliff and land in a lake with flat rocks.  I even looked up some information

http://www.free-press.biz/Grand-Teton-Park/la kes.html

I think the old saw about writing about what you know produces better stories.  If you actually visit a place, keep a journal of your impressions and write descriptions.

I am referring to Jenny Lake, I visited there last year and did numurous hiking trails. There are many spots  I saw where you could trip off rocks and land in the lake. I'm not aure about the thin rocks, although my English teacher won't grade me against it (She said she doesn't have time to look everything up, she has 90-100 of these to grade) =)

By the way, the word pungent refers to smells, not to pains.

Pungent also means sharply painful, as quoted from the Merriam Webster dictionary.

What is this? Can you edit your post and delete this stuff?

I poasted it with tabbed paragraphs, and I don't know why that happened. Ignore it, I guess.

  • Cold tomatoes- weird, isn't it? I LOVE room temperature ones, but if you slice it then put it in the fridge it is SO BAD. EEEWWWW.
  • Ranch Drssing- The smell makes me want to gag.
Foods commercials for high fructose corn syrup .. what is the reality? Sep 17 2008
20:14 (UTC)
Original Post by artofphire:

I hate how just about everyone is so blunt on this issue and I hate it more when:

"IT'S MADE BY THE COMPANIES THAT MANAFACTURE THIS STUFF SO IT'S OBVIOUSLY PROPOGANDA."

Fine, don't believe them? Believe me, I don't work for anyone.

HFCS is just sugar. It's JUST sugar. It isn't any worse or better for you then ANY other sugar. It's just simple as that.

Does it break down differently? Maybe.

Does it effect your health? Well, let's talk about the REAL issue here. Anybody guess what it is, yet? OVER-CONSUMPTION. Yes, that's the REAL problem. HFCS aren't the problem. Fats aren't the problem. Refined sugars aren't the problem - OVER-CONSUMPTION is.

W
hy does everyone forget that? Nowadays it's just people whining about how certain substances in food are making them fat. A world full of excuses.

And I have to ask - Why are HFCSs even an issue? If you're not stuffing your face with a product containing loads of it, why are we worrying about it? It bothers me when someone whose been living and eating healthy, decides to stop eating a certain brand of food because they just found out it contains something the "majority" considers bad.

If you're not over-consuming HFCS - Hell, if you're not over-consuming sugars/simple carbs in general, eating healthy, consuming the right amount of calories, why are you cutting out every last thing out of your diet that people consider bad?

Then there's the argument that it's IMPOSSIBLE to have HFCS in moderation, IT'S IN EVERYTHING. Yeah, but that doesn't mean there's A LOT of it in everything. Let's just ignore the fact for now that the daily recommended allowance of sugars per day has yet to be established, and move on to a situation with the aforementioned dilemma...

Most breads nowadays are made-up with HFCS instead of brown or table sugars. Read the nutrition fact labels - You find that most will only have about 2-5 grams of it per serving. 2-5 grams, SOMEONE ALERT OF THE FITNESS POLICE. I will agree, however, that because there has yet to be an established daily recommended allowance for sugars, can cause a huge disorientation with someone trying to watch their sugar consumption.

Don't stop eating something just because it has HFCS in it; Check how much of it it has in it, then decide wether it's good for you or not. Besides, you shouldn't be consuming a lot of sugars in the first place.

I bet if HFCSs never existed - People would be complaining just as much about brown sugar/lactose/sucrose/fructose/cane sugar/and other refined sugars. Hell, I won't be suprised if someone starts a petition someday to ban some irrelevant substance in food and their stated reason for doing so would be: "Because it made me fat".

You made yourself fat; not the food. The government can't protect you from yourself.

Having had said all of that, mind you, I'm lost in this game just as much as most of you - Since there isn't any established daily recommended allowance for sugar, I don't know how much is too much. I'm often confused and I never know if I'm over-consuming or barely making it over the limit. It's worsened by people, after dozens and doezens of searches, all have different opinions on the matter.

20 grams a day! 50, no 100! NONE!

Bleh, I need some rest.

 Agreed.

I asked how tall you were because at 5' and 84lbs, you are very thin.  The thinner somebody is, the more noticeable it will be when they put something in their stomach.  Especially to themselves.  Think of it this way.  You have a balloon (stomach) that is empty (flat).  Put a piece of bread inside.  It will be a bit bigger until the bread has been digested.   Any change in size will be more noticeable in a very thin person because there is nothing to hide it.  This is normal.  But I think it is unlikely that you look 30 lbs heavier.  If you really do bloat that much, than you should see a doctor because that is not normal.  You could have an intolerance to something, ie milk, nuts etc.

I should post a picture of my stomach after dinner; then you will know what I am talking about.

I really am not super-thin, as I have a very small frame and my docter reccomended 85 pounds as my goal weight. I will gain as I grow; but for now I am pretty much fine.

ok i KNOW what you look like after dinner becuase the same thing has been happening to me since i was 14. You look so preggo, and it sucks, but the reality is you can:

1)  gain a little more weight (believe me, it helps)

2)  eat more frequent, smaller meals so the bloating isn't so bad

This distension will happen for a while, until your body is FULLY recovered inside and out from your Ed. I know though, girl...it's so embarassing. But don't let it get you down becuase if you think about it, it doesn't change WHO YOU ARE on the inside, no one will love you less, or talk about you more- and if someone does, they don't deserve to be in your life anyway =)

It has been happening since before my ED, when I weighed around 90 pounds.

Nothing from my ED caused it.

Also, tofu crumbled and fried with "tofu scramble" makes a good base for a wide variety of dishes. The seasonings don't actually taste like eggs or anything, they just make a nice base.

I am a choco-holic...extremely dark chocolate, I buy the 85% cacao by Lindt.

Just a little something I've taught myself to do...rather then just munch down a huge amount of chocolate to satisfy my craving, I eat it VERY slowly, actually tasting each and every bite.  I know this sounds weird, but put a small piece in your mouth and just let it sit on your tongue until it melts...seriously taste it, don't just wolf it down.

You'll find you eat a lot less of it that way, while still satisfying your craving.  30% is waayyyy too high.  I think the 2 squares of Lindt that I indulge (20 grams) is 105 calories, 2.5 grams of sugar, 9 grams of fat.  I only eat it when I've had a mostly low-fat day, so there's room for the added treat at the end of the day.

Hope that helps somewhat!
