i started gaining in college because a) i was drinking a lot, and b) i was no longer part of a cross country or track team... although, i lost some weight last summer, and then when i was living in the same city as my boyfriend again, i gained it all back and then some. it's so easy to have some pizza or lasagna or whatever if he's having some. that'll be a challenge again when i move back in a week. |

just watching what i eat has made me think twice about what i'm shoving down. i'm much healthier, and definitely have more energy. losing weight has also made me feel (for the first time in a couple of years) that i can set a goal and actually achieve it. last weekend i prepped and painted my room, which is a big project to do on one's own. but i had the energy and the drive to actually finish the project, which hadn't been the case in years. |

that's brilliant! i just did it with all the weight that i wanted to lose when i started... holy cow! it's amazing that we get so used to that extra "stuff" hanging on. definitely a GREAT motivation to get moving again. |

right... which makes sense to me... but i figured that adding running for 20-30 minutes would up the deficit, and thus make me lose more? (other days i swim for 15-25 minutes, or play tennis for a hour) don't get me wrong, i realize that 4 lbs a month is more than i've lost in the past year before starting cc, but i just figured being more active has to be better (and help me get to my goal a little faster) than doing nothing at all. |

i hear ya. my bf just cuts out his extra frozen pizza once or twice a week, and he drops 10 lbs. just like that! ugh... and i have to work soooo hard to lose that much. |

I'm doing some light strength training every other day. I'm also drinking less... which helps a lot. :) What I Want from a Group: I want motivation when I hit the rough spots... and just someone to be accountable to, a group to share the highs and the lows with. |

sometimes i go for a half hour walk with a dumbbell in each arm... and do bicept curls as i'm walking. you definitely feel the burn the next day. |

drink lots of water for the rest of the day, eat veggies when you get hungry b/c they're low cal and very filling... and even if you just go for a walk or a run, you'll up the amount of calories that your body needs for the day, and thus won't be going over your limit by having dinner. good luck! |

this is a great thread... it's encouraging to see so many people have the same needs. i want to lose weight so that i feel like i can still set goals and achieve them... knowing that i succeeded will make it easier to go back to school and achieve there too. i also want to have kids someday, and when i'm pregnant, have people not be able to tell that i am from the back... only when i turn around. |
