It's possible that with all of the excersise you're doing, you're not actually eating enough calories. I'm also 5'4" but don't excersise at all and have an estimated calorie burn of 1800 a day. To lose weight it's recommended that I eat 1200-1300 cals a day so the difference between what I burn and what I eat is still less than 1000 calories. I imagine that if you exersize you burn more calories in a day than I do, so you also need to eat more. When you said you don't eat crap, did you mean you don't eat bad foods or that you hardly eat anything? Believe it or not, you can stop loosing weight if you eat too little.

Pizza Crust
Printable Version
Phase: 2
Preheat Oven: 450
Cooking Time: 10 min

1 package Rapid Rise Yeast
1 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
1 t garlic salt
1 t Splenda
1 Tbs olive oil
2/3 cup of warm water

Favorite Toppings
4. oz tomato sauce (no sugar added)
Italian spices as desired
17 pieces of Hormel's Turkey Pepperoni (70% Fat Free)
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese as desired
Use any veggies as desired...be sure they are dry

Mix dry ingredients well together in a medium bowl. Add the olive oil and cut into the flour mix. Add water to make a nice dough and knead a few times. Oil spray a small bowl and place the dough in it and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Set aside for about 20 minutes. I put mine in the microwave (and didn’t turn it on!) Oil spray a pizza pan and dump the dough onto it. Spray your hands and spread and stretch the dough to fit the pan with a slight turned up rim. You can use a food processor or your bread machine on manual to make the dough, but it is so easy I just use my hands.

At this point you can either bake the crust at @ 450 degrees for about 10 minutes and save till later, or top with your favorite topping and bake on lowest rack of the oven for 15 minutes (I cooked it 20) or until cheese is melted and rim of crust is brown.

Enjoy, i made this pizza last week.

The link to print it doesn't work. Can you give me the link to go straight to the recipie? I'd really like to try it. :) Also, do you know how many servings this makes?

Health & Support Cravings and Vitamin Deficiencies Feb 14 2009

anyways... it hasnothing to do with vitiman deficiency. our bodies dont crave bad food when we need nutrition. they just crave food in general. make sure your eating enough and healthy variety.

I disagree. I was eating healthy foods, every 2-3 hours and I was craving sweets/carbs like MAD. I'd eat healthy but even right after the meal, I'd want something sweet. I think that some food cravings are a sign for our body trying to tell us something, so I went to a doctor and had my blood work done. I was deficient in Vitamin D and Iron, which greatly was affecting my moods too of being overtired even on 9 hours of sleep and depressed/sad feeling for no reason. Now that I'm on a good quality multi vitamin and added in more dairy to my diet, it's totally different. I don't get cravings like that any more and I'm not as tired. Everything else food wise/exercise wise remains the same as before.

to the OP if you really want to know for sure, go to your doctor and get your bloodwork done.

Thank you, silverbutterfly. This was the kind of response I had in mind when I first posted this. I had heard of cravings signaling deficiencies and wanted to see if anyone had experienced something like I'm experiencing right now. Your craving isn't exactly like mine, but your response is way more on track than the others I've recieved. I have the same problem of craving this so badly even after I've eaten a good meal. Like I mentioned,  I will eat like half a bag of chips each day, and I've never had cravings like this before.

I did call my doctor (before even posting this) and have an appointment to see him. I'm just the kind of person who likes to do some research before going in so that I can be informed.

Anyone else had similar experiences with cravings and vitamin deficiencies? :)

camilyna: I couldn't get to the video with the link you gave me... what was it about or what were the search words you used? Thanks.

And to clarify for anyone else who reads this post, my question is not about the nutritional value of my cravings or how to stop them.

There are certain cravings that signify certain vitamin deficiencies and I was wondering if this could be one of those.

If you are not a doctor, nutritionist, or other health expert, please do not respond.

Thank you.

Weight Loss Im Confused Feb 13 2009

I agree that for the amount of activity that you get working out, 1300 cals is probably too little. (I don't work out at all, have a desk job, study all night, and still eat 1200-1300 cals a day... And still lose weight if I stick to that count.)

You might want to try sticking to your "maintainance" calorie count for a few weeks to let your body's metabolism get back on track. Then try recalculating your burn, maintenance, and restriction for weight loss calorie amounts.

Another suggestion (if you're still not happy with the results), is to include more protein in your diet. I've read about several studies that proved that people who included 10-20 grams of protien above the usual daily recommendation in their diet lost more weight than those who ate exactly the daily recommended amounts.

Also try to keep in mind that certain foods (like those that are high in salt and sugar) will make you gain a few pounds. Those pounds will drop again in a day or two if you drink plenty of water and watch the amount of salt/sugar you consume.

I don't know if any of this helps, but I hope you can find at least one of these suggestions useful. :)

Weight Loss Depression... Jan 21 2009

I know it's expensive, but counseling helps... even if you don't have much to say either than "I get sad around this time." It's still nice to have someone you can completely confide in and who is there to give non-judgmental help. I was so resistant at first because I thought it meant that I wasn't strong enough to handle my own life, but I've changed my mind. It never hurts to ask for help. :)

I've read that salt and sugar increase your appetite, as well as high levelsof  vitamin B. (Which is weird because vitamin B is also supposed to aid in weight loss. How can you loose weight with vitamin B if it makes you hungrier??) Copy & paste the following link into your web browser so you an see some examples of what this person claims increases appetite: http://loseweight.haktanir.org/2007/02/foods- that-increase-appetite.html

I would never reccomend  not using a condom nowadays. You need that protection from STDs because some don't show up on tests for months, and some are deadly. Plus, with the rise in sex addictions nowadays, you never know if your partner is telling the truth about who he/she is sleeping with or what they might have. Use the condom to protect yourself.

Foods Nutrition Bars Sep 06 2008

I have the same situation you do. The two protien bars that I really like are the Atkins Peanut Butter chocolate bars and the Special K Double Chocolate bars.

I like the Atkins one because it's not loaded with sugar and is pretty satisfying with a glass of water. It doesn't replace Reese's peanut butter cups, LOL, but it's close enough that I can pretend I'm just having dessert for lunch. :)

The Special K bars have a lot of sugar, but I only eat those when I'm really craving chocolate or just something sweet. I figure if I'm going to consume 10 g of suger, I might as well get some protien with it. They do calm my chocolate cravings pretty well.

Weight Loss I'm SO hungry today Sep 05 2008

Maybe you're just eating unhealthy foods. I just scrarffed down a couple of brownies, a cookie, and a raspberry tart... over 1000 cals and my goal is 1200 cals for the day... of course I'll be starving the rest of the day... So my suggestion is eat a huge salad for dinner with as little dressing as possible. That's what I'll be doing... And if you're worried about nutrition, maybe you should take a daily vitamin in addition to eating healthy foods. Something to keep in mind, foods that are high in added sugar, salt, and fat are not only higher in calories, but they actually increase your appetite, so you want to keep eating more all day.... Good luck, you're not alone :)

Yoga relaxes the hell outta me. I don't even bother trying to do homework on yoga nights... LOL

I told my yoga instructor about how well I sleep at night and we had a discussion about how much trouble I have falling asleep at night (3-4 hours is a GOOD night for me...). She said to try the downward-facing dog pose for a few minutes (like 3-5 minutes) and it should help me sleep better. Haven't tried it yet, but it's worth a shot. (Here's a link to some instructions in case you don't know how to do this pose yet http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/info/downward-faci ng-dog.asp )

Weight Loss Response to ALL succesful losers Sep 05 2008
19:26 (UTC)

I take a Vitamin B suppliment too, and even though it increases my appetite, I have successfully lost 2 lbs a week for the past 3 months. I just have to make sure that if I snack on stuff, that it's healthy, low cal stuff like fruit & veggies. When I forget to take my b-vitamin, I like to drink Propel waters because they are low cal and high in vitamin b...

My burn/eat deficit is usually at about 400-500 calories. When I eat healthy foods, I loose successfully. (When I eat junk foods, I'm always starving and can't visually see any weight loss.) I don't work out, so I don't know how changing your cals for those days works...

Sometimes you can find recovery programs for addictions online. I did a quick google search for "food addiction" and got these websites. Hope it helps a little bit...

http://www.foodaddicts.org/

http://www.addictionrecov.org/food.htm

http://www.realizationcenter.net/fdaddct.htm

http://www.foodaddictsinrecovery.com/id9.html

http://www.foodaddiction.com/Resources.html

The last one seems to be the most helpful. I would suggest writing to some of these organizations even if they're not in your area to see if maybe they know of places in your area where you can get help or of any online recovery programs.

Good luck :)

I've had something similar happen. My burn meter used to be set at 1800 (sedentary) then I add my activities. Now it defaults at 1740 instead, which means less cals I can consume if I want the same deficit... I didn't change anything either. It just showed up that way one day and I haven't figured out what happened or how to get it to go back to 1800...

CC will change your burn meter when you log your weight. Since your losing weight, your body burns less calories. This is why it is harder to lose weight when your closer to your goal weight. So if your burn meter went down 60 calories, you probably lost a few pounds, so congratulations.

My burn meter went down 10 calories because I logged a 1.5 lbs weight lost. It sucks that your body is burning less calories but great that your losing weight.

 Aha! Thanks :)

Another possibility is endometriosis. I've had this problem since I was 12 (I'm now 25) and didn't know what it was until I asked my doctor about it after the pains went away when I started taking birth control pills. Appearantly, it's to blame for the pains I got in my tummy, back, and colon every month around the time of my period. (Maybe TMI, but I couldn't poop because it was too painful. I thought it was just constipation, so I never asked about it until one week, after being on the pill a couple of months, I didn't have that pain anymore.)

And in case you're wondering what endometriosis is, it's something along the lines of tissue growing outside your uterus (instead of staying inside like it should). The pressure from the new tissue causes pains as it grows, but then it dies and the pain goes away after your period... but next month it's regrown, and the cycle continues. I was surprised to hear that this could ever happen in the first place, and even more suprised that the doctor had seen patients who had endometriosis up to thier arms or legs!

Anyway, it's appearantly quite common and the main treatment for it is birth control pills, so that's why the pains went away when I started taking the pill... I'm only going into this long explaination, because if I had only known about this, I wouldn't have had to suffer all through my teen and early college years. Go figure!

Salads, a pre-packed tuna lunch thingy (with a pack of gum or a toothbrush & toothpaste for right after!), sandwiches, protien bars, veggies and hummus, healthy cereal (you can get the little carton of milk at school)... any veggies/ fruit they sell at the cafeteria should be fine just take into account weather you think the veggies are fried, sauteed, or steamed, or if they have any added butter, etc. And of course, it's okay to treat yourself to something that's not TOTALLY healthy every once in awhile :) I pack breakfast on the go for myself (cuz I always wake up like 10 mins before I'm supposed to be in class...) and that usually consists of a  fruit (apple, plum, pear, peach, handfull of berries, etc.), some type of juice or propel drink, and either a slice of double fiber bread or stick of light string cheese. This wouldn't be enough for me at lunch time, but it's just an example.

He is an ass and will never love you as much as you've cared about him. In fact, he doesn't care about you at all. I'm sorry, I know this sounds harsh, but you have to face the truth. You deserve better. You deserve to be happily in love with someone who respects you and is faithful to you. He is obviously not that person.
