Weight Loss please help me I am about to give up. Aug 19 2008

Well, I am even more discouraged than ever now...Since I started taking those pills (profast), I do lose weight. BUT the problem now is, the second I stop taking them I gain the weight all over again!

For example: On the 15th I was at 148, on the 17th I was at 145.5, yesterday I didn't take a pill and today I weigh 147!!!

Now I can't help but think that even if I do lose the weight through diet, exercise, and these pills...I will just gain it all back again. I just don't know what to think or do anymore. Should I just give up on the whole thing?

I am not trying to be a downer, but I had my first daughter last July. I am 26 now and I weigh 151 at 5'3"!!! I breastfed for 8 months, ate healthy, did kettlebell 3 hours a week for 3 months, then adjusted my calories down to 1200 a day, tried pilates, and I still weigh 151. I haven't lost any inches either!!! So finally I went to the doctor who ran tests on me, and he said I am in perfect health except for my BMI. He agreed that I am overweight, so he put me on a weightloss pill. I always thought they were for the lazy, but now I know some people just can't lose the weight (especially moms) not matter what we do. In a nutshell, my doctor said having kids can really screw you up. So if after a year of exercise and dieting you don't get the results you want, see your doctor.

All I can say is I have been eating 1200 calories, did kettlebell 3 hours a week for 3 months, then started pilates, and I never shed a single pound or inches for that matter!!! I went to the doctor who after doing blood work and some other tests found I am in excellent shape and should be losing weight. And he agreed my BMI isn't healthy. That being said I am on my second day using Phentermine. I used to think diet pills were just an easy way out so people didn't have to work at losing weight, but now I know that some of us just can't lose weight no matter what we do. Sometimes we just need a little extra help. So if after following this website's guidelines for a healthy diet, and doing your regular exercises you still don't see results...talk to your doctor if it is really bothering you.

Well, I have cheered up quite a bit since my last post. I had to quit bfing because I have a class that requires me to camp out for two weeks that starts this next week. As a result I will not be able to take my daughter with me, and who wants to be miserable out in the mountains by being engorged? But my daugher is 11 months, so I don't feel too guilty about quitting. Anyways, since I quit bfing I lost 5 pounds in 4 weeks!!! The funniest thing is I weigh 20 pounds more than I used to, but I can still wear most of my clothes I had prepregnancy. There are a few pencil skirts I can't wear due to my scars still, but I figure if I keep toning up and eating healthy it won't be so noticable before long. I am just so happy I have my daughter, we are both healthy, and I can still get into my favorite pants! Thank you Caydison for bringing to light how bfing causes us to hang on to extra baggage, but it is worth it. After all the hard work and everything my body has gone through (I almost died giving birth due to HELLP) I can finally appreciate it again and love it. Scars and all!

I am new on here too, and all my friends think I am crazy because I insist I did not lose any weight while bfing. Then again, none of them bfed to begin with. While I have tons of weight to lose, I did feel good when I found out one of my friends, his boss, and a coworker all saw me moments before I told him I was pregnant...and they all thought I was hot! Even though I was already in my second trimeser. That was such an ego boost. Your post just reinforces those feelings.

But I have to admit, it is a constant struggle for me to walk an hour everyday with my 10 month old, do kettlebells for an hour three days a week, and keep to my calories on here...still the scale doesn't budge! Instead I have an additional 10 pounds to lose, and no I don't think it is all muscle. I just want to fit into my prepregnancy clothes that everyone assured me I would get into again, but I am about ready to just take them to the thrift store. I am honestly just ready to give up on the whole thing, cry, and just get over it.

I am not trying to be negative, just honest.

I would love to start by saying congrats on being close to your goal. I know it won't make you feel better, but I do kettlebells three hours a week plus diet. I am postpregnancy also, and I only see the scales going up!!! My clothes still fit, but I want to lose my tummy. My real goal is to just fit into my prepregnancy clothes, and I am close to giving up too. The difference is I started with only 20lbs to lose, and now I have 30!!! So just know you are really close to your goal and others are getting farther and farther away from theirs.

I know tons of guys who think confidence is sexy! LOL That is awesome you have lost enough weight to feel that good about yourself. I think the only person who finds me sexy right now is my husband, and I don't even understand why. I don't even find myself sexy right now! Isn't it funny how our weight plays so much into our self-esteem? I keep telling myself it's all in my head, but I just can't get past it honestly. Sad thing is, it's all baby weight.
