| Motivation | what do you do to reward yourself? | Aug 17 2009 02:09 (UTC) |
23 |
I found the biggest problem with rewards that I have was sticking too them. By the time I reached the goal, I no longer had interest in the massage, or, it was winter time and I didn't feel like spending the $$ on a pedicure only I would see. My hair is down to my elbows because I hit a plateau, and I ended up having to buy more clothes anyways because my pants kept falling down. I found the best motivates were skinny-people things that I wouldn't use or need until I was thin, and things that I always wanted to do but couldn't because of my weight. *Skinny leather pants (Right now they would make my hips look rediculously big, but, 10 pounds from now, maybe not) *A Belly shirt (I've always wanted one) *Navel Piercing (when I can show it off) *Gymnastics classes (I've always wanted to, but always been too fat and unfit) *Sexy Photoshoot (same as the gymnastics) That way I can't cheat. |

As far as Food? Cookies and General Tso's Chicken. Though, any Chinese food and any sort of baked sweet really. Luckily, this new Asian restaurant downtown has hired THE HOTTEST sushi cheif I have ever seen, so, I'm no longer tempted by the Chinese morsels. I want to ogle him under the pretense of watching him make my avocado roll. Oh Whatever! I'm a chubby girl who doesn't get a lot of action! Food triggers happy-endorphins to release in my head! Hot man making me food?! As far as non-food? Friends, they're very supportive of the idea of my weight loss, just, not very supportive of the actual process. I am the skinniest one in the circle, a measly 165 pounds, with them all well over 200. (This has gotten me the nickname 'boney') They also tend to self medicate with food, so, when they are depressed and want to hork down half a chinese food buffet, a gallon of chocolate ice cream, or a pizza and a half, who am I to stop them? I used to be near 200 pounds, I know the solidarity we fat girls feel, and I know I will make them feel bad about themselves if I don't eat a lot. I don't want to blow their already low self esteem any lower, so I blow my week instead. |

yea, being in art school I've modeled and drawn from the model. It's a good way to make money, and you can even bring some props if they'll make you feel more comfortable. I remember that there was a lot of gossip around the classrooms about the models, but not about their bodies. It was always "I don't like her because she moves too much in the pose." or "He always takes the same pose over and over, I'm bored with it." nothing like "she is chubby and I don't like it." |

| Motivation | My boyfriend broke up with me because I'm big. | Jun 20 2009 04:15 (UTC) |

Ok,there is no way to say anything for sure with the backstory, but, I think your weight was never the problem well, not a problem because it was making him unattracted to you. Men are very visual daters, if he is as hot as you are insinuating, he probably has no problem getting girls, he wanted to date you. Maybe he liked the way you looked but his friends were teasing him about it so he was ashamed. Maybe he broke up with you because you LOST twenty pounds and he was no longer attracted to you. or, Maybe he is just a jerk. I'd say, if you want to lose the weight, throw yourself into it as a distraction. Read books, compare routines, pick out music . . . make it into a hobby. It will keep your mind off of things and make you feel like you're doing something productive, which will remind you how strong you are and make you feel better. In theory. |

HAHAHA That happened to me too, only it was my Dad. I tried the technique of not friending him, but then he called me and asked me why I wasn't friending him. Total guilt trip . . . Long and short of it, he is now my Facebook friend. |

Ouch.
All I can say is, at least if they're already skinny, your body can't yank from them for long, and if you kick the squats up a notch, you'll be the envy of every girl at the beach this summer with your fat-less nicely toned legs. Just buy one of those t-shirts with all the dangley beads to camouflage your arms.

I bought the book a while back, (Technically the Abs Diet for Women), and have been on the diet ever since with a smattering of the New Rules of weight lifting for women. I want a more than just subtly toned figure, not a skinny figure. It is actually really really helpful.

| Weight Loss | Stretch-marks and saggy skin? | Mar 07 2009 16:20 (UTC) |

Ugh, I am in the exact same boat. I'm 23, and I lost 25lbs last year. I have streach marks on my stomach, chest, and the part of my back shoulder thats right above my armpit. I have tried all sorts of things to get them to go away . . .
Vita-K solution, I give it 4 out of 10, it helps, but not that much.
I have never heard of any totally sucessful streach mark treatment. I plan to get a tattoo over mine when I am skinny. I'd much rather look at a snake coiling around my bellybutton than a bunch of pink marks. |

Thanks guys, you're really a big help. I am sure plenty of you are dealing with the same problem of suddenly bringing sexy back (some of us, like me, from the grave).
So . . . I'm not exactly dealin with the most girl savvy guys.

I had one a few weeks ago.
I must have made about six trips back and forth first trying on the XLs then having to bring them back and grabbing Ls instead. Then, suddenly, it hit me. It was pointless to keep picking up the XLs and trying them on first so I wouldn't have to do the dreaded scrounge around for a larger size. I was a size Large. |

::sigh:: I know, I mean, I gained my freshman fifteen onto my stomach, and then lost them off my breasts. So frustrating. Seriously body, you're messing up my game. I need those to attract shallow men that I can totally reject. |

| Weight Loss | Is putting Crystal light in water the same as just drinking water? | Sep 13 2008 16:44 (UTC) |

I use the special K Protein Water mix, It tastes better than Crystal Light to me, and even though it's not great, it gets me drinking the water and gives you a shot of protein as well, which is helpful |

I always had this theory that whenever someone asks a man what size he prefers, he always says somehthing along, "A size twelve, I like a girl with a little meat on her bones." but as a man, he does not know what a size twelve looks like.
That's my theory anyways, because I hear the "size 12" answer so often. |

| Weight Loss | Any trail riders here? | Jul 20 2008 16:20 (UTC) |

If your horse isn't easily spookable, you can do a little trick riding. I know I used to try to lift my legs and touch my knees to my elbows, and touch my toes, its really stupid to try on a skittish horse though. and I think its more about balance and strength than calories.
I also have a bad ankle so I usually rode without sturrups, and like Mkculs said, bareback is a good alternative. I used to also sing on the trail, though I think youre not going to be able to squeese too much more excersize out of riding. |

| Health & Support | stretch marks? do they go away with weightloss at all? | Jul 15 2008 00:03 (UTC) |

I hear Mederma is good, I also heard that the Avon streach mark smoother works well, shea and coco butter are good, really anything with the Vitamins B and E, I know I got them on my stomach from the freshman 15, and it looked awful to me, a bunch of red lines around my bellybutton. Using the Jergen's Tanning lotion on them in the summer helps to stop them from sticking out when you have a tan. But they will never go away 100 percent, I know, I tend to stress and obsess over mine, and I have resorted to getting a little ink over them. |

Hahaha, this reminds me of the quote from Kathy Najimy "If youre not blonde and thin, you develop a personality real quick." Yea, for the most part it seems like guys like large chest-small waist-large hips, which, if youre a heavier girl with a large waist, it all looks 'thin' to you. All men are different though, and some do have fetishes for obese women, some are attracted to big girls, some(most) like the "all american" fit girl with t&a, and some like the Xylophone ribed girl who has a 'fast metabolism'. I'm sure if every man made a 1-10 list in chronological order of what physical characteristics they noticed first, they would all be quite different. I dont understand the bone thin attraction though. I know I dated a boy for a while who had the boy version of the stick bug figure. I never asked but I would guess he was never a pound over 115 or 120, and it was actually rather unpleasant that he was so thin. Nobody likes a rib bone suddenly jabbed into their breast while youre. . . cuddling, or a pelvis bone jutting into their inner thigh while you're . . . cuddling, or vertibres digging into your side when youre . . . cuddling.
But girls, what I have learned is that if you think youre hot and you act like you think your hot, men will beleive you. Everyone will beleive you. Look up, take your eyes off the floor of shame and look around, I bet you are more appreciated than you think.

I'm really lazy too, I think it's the fact that I speant my hard earned money on a gym membership that really keeps me going. But what I found helped break out of the cycle of being lazy was picking up an active hobby that I always wanted to learn.

I heard, a sort of 'friend of a friend' or 'urban woman legend' that you can get them tattooed over with the permanant makup tattoos. Does anyone know anything about this? It seems like it would be hard to match skintone, but anyone who isnt shy of a little ink might be able to hide their streach marks with it. |
