hello ladies.

I cant help but wonder...why do we all stuggle this much?Life isnt supposed to be this hard...the girl who is 15 and always the fat kid(I have been there honey , I sooo know what your talking about)the women who want to be thin by their wedding day,the heroes who got kids and lost their figure, the jojo dieters ,the binge eaters...Lets just all think about it a little...why do we one or the other way struggle with this? Are we lazy?Do we lack willpower? Are we phisichally or mentally ill?

I personally am the binge eater therefore jojo er in the line...I have been the fat kid and I will surely be the one who will still struggle with it before my wedding day and after I get to have kids.SO let me just say that maybe the answer is not less food, more exercise or an incredibly diet minded attitute...Maybe the answer is much deeper...Much well caved in our can't-stop-wanting-the-last-snicker bar minds!

SO I would love to ask  each and one of you to write down why do you eat?WHen do you eat?And why is it sooo hard to resist...why do you have to fear the weekend...in one word why are we slaves to food?

I was hoping that by making this group we can discuss THIS not only harsh cold facts and numbers on the scale..Sure we will  get to that as well.I read a book recently the NO DIET,DIET. maybe you all know it...it just leads you to quit your bad habbits and start good ones...Let me tell you day one was to NOT turn the television ON (or any other source of entertainment in my case my laptop)WOW I could not do it.

SO as a new ball has been dropped lets see how we can solve this FOREVER!

Hi there,

I am back ot the wright loss thing AGAIN.....done the WW thing once before losing 84 lbs and it came back plu some!  just started with weight loss thing again and wondering how to start again mentally.

SJ

hy!

I do not follow any diets,I am trying to stay at a healthy way of eating for the rest of my life.I tried the diets though...none of them worked.I felt imprisoned by not being able to eat what I want or having to count carbs or points or values or preparing shakes and I could go on and on.So what I do (when I am on track, not yet)I count calories, exercise and try to go by percentage with protein, carbs and fat.The mindset is what I am also looking for...so that is why I made this group:)

Good morning Good morning!

I'm 23, 5' 6" and currently weigh 195.  My personal goal to begin with is 160 lbs.  I haven't been that light since elementary school.  After reaching that goal, I'd like to re-evaluate before setting a final goal.

I feel like I have a pretty decent plan for weight loss and personal fitness, I just cannot stay motivated.  I struggle daily with over-eating.

So, here I am!

oh yeah that is what I am talking about!I also know how!but to stay on track and not binge its a different story!so lets try to stick together girl!

Thank you for the replies!

I exercise regularly and I recently lost almost 20kgs.I am most of the day outside. It is not a question of that....it is the way I feel the ...moodswings the reactions.I take obstacles and changes with  a lot of suffering.I refuse to make peace and say oh thats just my character.I have no possibilty to look for help earlier than fall.I am not saying I am borderline, but it would explain a LOT!

i struggled for several winters in a row.  then i got a dog (last feb) and started getting outside every day.  i'm much better now; in fact, i haven't had more than two bad days all winter.

OH MAN,thank you soooo much,I had no idea that im not alone!!!I just thought that Im weak!!!(please note that I am also recovering from binge eating.quite succesfully,I got insanly fond of working out, body combat especially, and now that I feel like this my day is exactly the opposite of the past 9month)

I have gone through this before but I just could not put it in words, and now I am also before a huge change in my life so all of these put weight on the whole winter depression.

oh yes and here in holland it is not really cold, but it is constantly cloudy so you cannot see the sky almost at all.I come from a country where this is not usual so I have extra hard time getting used to it.

Thank you all for the replies!!you helped me a lot...only the thought that I am not alone helps.

I think what you are describing is called Seasonal Affective Disorder..(S.A.D.) I have it too and I have had to move because of it in the past. You can look up info on it, but in a nutshell it happens when there is not enough sunlight. Your body needs sun to "eat up" x-tra melatonin. If you don't get it, you have too much of that in your body, which is the same thing that makes bears hibernate....so of course it makes you sleepy and groggy. They make artificial lamps that help TREMENDOUSLY! Don't delay in getting help....if it is what you have, there is a simple solution, and no need to suffer. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions. I wish you the best!!

hey,

thank you for the advice.I do have the lamp but it causes some serious headaches!!It is really annoying.I am sooo low about this all.

From what you said it seems like you are waking up every morning hope to lose weight. To long for it so much everyday makes your life boring AND make everything seems impossible and long.

A diet is forever, its not like something you do for a month and lose weight then you can eat whatever you want.

Please make diet a *fun* part of your life and you will get what you want.

erm,I agree with making diet a lifestyle.BUT this is my life now....I did not just get here....it took me a loooong time to eat healthy and exercise.I used to practise lying on my bed as much as the olimpic swimteam spends in water.I used to eat 4person meals at the mcdonalds pretending that there are other people I am waiting to join me at the table any time someone passed by.SO I changed who I was radically for good, but I would like to see some results else I think I am doing something wrong and I cannot afford to do anything that would make me go back to bed and junk.I feel confident about what I am doing and gives me a reason to wake up in the morning but still I would love to see that what I am doing is beneficial for my body and mind.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I lost about a pound a week for the first 8-9 weeks. I have a weekly average deficit of about 5000 calories and haven't lost ANYTHING for the last 2 weeks! Yesterday I took a 3.5 hour HIKE and still only ate about 1900 calories! I teach yoga and spinning and walk my dog. I am trying REALLY hard not to drink wine (my biggest downfall--but still in my calorie count and a deficit). UGH!!!!!!!!!!!  I will keep at it if you will :)

I will also keep at it especially because I want to finally wake up one day that YES I found what I am doing wrong and can write a nice post here that might help others that are in the same place:)

ok,what I do is the following....my stats are 5'6-start weight 212lbs-current weight 185lbs.I started on the 6th of may 2008 and did not lose anything since 25th of june.I am fluctuating 2-3 pounds up of course but never down.I ate 1200cal for the first 7weeks and than I started to exercise. What I do is 5times a week grouplessons,I dont know if you are familiar with the LesMills group lessons.Body Jam (loads of jumping aerobic movements)BodyPump (weightlifting, squats and lounges with weights)BodyBalance (sort of yoga and tai chi) Now these I do 5 times a week.2 times the weight training lesson one and the rest once or twice, sometimes I go to 2 lessons a day.Plus for my job I bike a lot.I upped my cals to 1550-1700.And nothing hapenned basically since I started to exercise that was on the 18th of june. What could be wrong?

OMG!I hated it so much!!I  was on  it for like 6 months when I saw a picture of myself....it was  schocking!I looked like a huge baloon that is ready to pop!I was and am overweight but the way I looked back than was not a pretty sight,it was a kind of fat I did not know before....now I was in a binge period at the time so it could have been both, but I always had problems with my metabolism so giving such a hormone shot to me was like giving sugar to a diabetic person....needless to say that I quit as soon as that month was over and I never want to see any of those kind of birthcontrol supplies. It was a very bad experiance.

hello surviveors!

I want to thank for all the insipiring stories.I am extremely happy to see that what I am going through is not all that special, meaning that it can happen and end at the same time.I am doing my very best but when I see no change... it makes me ache.Almost 5 weeks.I have started to exercise 6 weeks ago,so basically I did not lose anything ever since I am working this hard.It is hard...I am sometimes 2times per day in the gym, people think I am out of my mind.Others have a 1 time per week abonament and they sleep good at night that they are exercising.... and me?I am there 5-6times per week sometimes both in the morning and evening and I am exhausted and there is no change in my body....however I also enjoy it...it is not just pure weight loss related. It gives me a great vibe.I really hope to get over this and see what I am working so hard for.

ah yes,I know what you mean....but I couldnt help but get in the dressing rooms and try on things that I never fit before....what I do I try to buy on sale things that could be good for any weight.Like now I bought a pair of pants that are a large model now are a bit tight but in a few pounds (I expect 15)they will get to look like they are meant to be:)So its like 2in1.Of course if this does not work, there is still the safety that I bought them on sale and I did not give out a whole lot of money.I also experianced that by the time they get to be too big I am either bored or they are too used:)But congrats on the loss!

hello everyone and may I say WOW!

Congratulations to all of you!I am happy to see some real warriors in here!(Not just the wow I lost 5 pounds so now I went from skinny to anorexic skinny!I am sorry to be this blunt but overweight is not something to be taken for granted and sometimes vanity takes you there)Anyway I am 22,5'7 and currently 186lbs.I started at 212lbs on the 6th of may 2008.I have been emotionally struggling with eating so than came the weight gain.Food was my ultimate "happy place" and also that made me hate myself the most.I feel that is over, but also that I am not healthy long enough to consider it final.I am hopefull though:)I would love to get down to 121-125.But with a muscled, toned figure.I wear my weight everywhere so my upper body and arms arent really feminine at this point:( I started to sport like 6 weeks ago and 1 month into my new lifestyle.Grouplessons and cardio 5 times a week, sometimes 2 times per day.I just love these lessons and my job and lifestyle atm allows me to focus on such a schedule. My weightloss stopped when I started to sport and I am plateuing atm.It is frustrating but I learned the longer it takes to lose it the longer it stays off.I loose hope every now and than but I decided not to weight in only every 2 weeks.Well I am happy to see soooo many succes stories and I wish you all the best of luck!
