| Fitness | Is lifting weights enough cardio? | Nov 25 2009 13:21 (UTC) |

Thanks, dabrock! I used to do all my cardio first and then weights, but read on here that it is better to do it after. I think my problem is that I had taken about a month off from the gym when both my daughters got sick with the flu, then I got it, so I have decided that I need to back off with my intensity a little and ease back into it. I lowered my resistance and did 20 minutes after weights today! |

rosieblue - I was going to post that I thought my bra was too tight since I am now on the last setting. I never thought that would be a possibility but maybe you are right. I will pull out my 36's and see how they feel. I noticed my strap falling down all day today. |

Thanks fitnessgirll! I am more pear shaped or hour glass shaped I guess and definitely am out of shape. I usually feel great anywhere under 185. I have been as low as 140 but looked sick at that weight. My current ratios are 20-25 fat, 30-35 protein and 40-50 carbs. I actually increased my carbs because I was feeling irritable and lightheaded after a long cardio session. I started some great squats from exercise tv that have me squatting down and then tapping out one leg or sweeping it out. Kills me :) Just not sure how to target my upper stomach or rib area more. I usually do crunches but not sure if that will help the sides of my ribs or maybe I am just too squeezed into my exercise clothes :)

Hi sugarshocked! Thanks for the reply. I have noticed my lovehandles feel smaller and I feel great. Just surprised that I am not dropping faster. Still wearing the same size clothes. My major problem areas are my butt and thighs. Definitely pear shaped so I have been focusing on those areas. Started doing a great video from exercise tv that has you squatting on one leg while tapping out or sweeping the other leg. I haven't had time to hit the gym for more weight training due to my schedule, though. I noticed that when I increased my cals after the first week I started losing so I thought I might need to be up around 1900-2000 a day for my body to start losing again now that I have doubled my workout schedule every day. Just wondering what other thoughts were.

Thanks everyone for your responses. We live on a cut through road so I don't like to take the girls out on the road too often. We do have a great backyard (close to two acres) but by the time we eat and clean up, it's bed time. I've considered not eating dinner, since they do eat at their daycare around 4:30, but my husband doesn't go for that. We try to spend 20-30 minutes outside every night though! I agree that I will need some strength training, and I took a peek at the beginner workout that CC advises. Easily done at night, or even in the morning before the girls are awake. My gym (not that I go much with my new schedule) has a morning spin class at 5, but only two days a week. I have been getting up a lot earlier now that it is light out, so I will have to focus on getting over there before they wake up. Just wanted to thank you all for your posts. Have a great night! |

leelaa - somewhere in my travels, cc determined that I should be at 156.8 to be in an ideal range. I have been as low as 140-145, but looked anorexic, and thought that 165 would be good for my height. I guess I will have to see as I get closer. I assumed I was a large frame, but I am a small frame according to the finger/wrist test. |

Hi, I checked out the link for you, it says if you eat 1579 (burning 2274 a day) you will lose 1.39 per week. Hope that helps :) |

Hi, I am 5'10" and going for 155. CC said 156.8, but that seemed like a weird number, so I chose 155. I seem to hang onto the postbaby weight for a loooong time. After my first daughter, I was about 40-50 pounds over weight for about 2 years. I got down to about 180 before my wedding, but then got pregnant again (baby is almost 2) and now have about 50-60 pounds to lose. |
