ok, i can agree with the fact that those who are anorexic may be defended on someone saying they were for one month and then stopped on a dime. BUT based on his posts it does not sound like he has started healthy eating habits. Even though the definition of anorexia nervosa is having a BMI lower than 17.5, you could be anorexic and not be to that point yet. I lost 50 lbs in 3 months when i was 14 by only eating 600 cals a day, in the end i had 14% body fat and was under weight. My family was very concerned about me and i did have a distorted body image and thought of food the wrong way.

I think it is good to have a reason to want to lose weight. I will be a bridesmaid in my step sisters wedding in Hawaii in March. I also will be visiting my family in Indiana in November and the last time I went out there I took alot of pics. After looking at the pictures i was grossed out. I will be turning 21 in August and want to do something either at the lake or river and i want to be able to look decent in a bathing suit. Those are the things motivating me.

my weight fluctuates anywhere from 1-3 lbs. every day. Don't stress on it unless it stays for more than a few days. I weigh myself in the morning on the same day of the week once a week. I think that gives me the most accurate reading.

I think Saving calories is not a bad idea, just make sure you are not under 1200 cals. a day. I know that on the weekend i will be drinking so i try to do the same thing. I also do that during the day, if i know i will drink that night then i dont eat as much since every beer i drink (bud select) is 98 cals. That is very true about the Weight Watchers points. I know a lady that saves her points to drink on the weekends. she is losing weight too.

I also love the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" SPRAY. but i never understood why it jumps from 0 cals to 25 cals ??? weird. if you know why, please explain it to me!

i saw those and they made me quite curious. Keep me posted on how well they work. sometimes your mind can play tricks on you and you think it is helping you when it is really not. (ex. i tried trim spa and made myself think it was working, like i wasnt as hungry. but it really didnt do anything. ) I am very skeptical about weight loss aids now since i have tried a few. I am not looking for the quick way out, just something that will make that 1 pound a week 2 pounds a wk. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your advice. It wasnt even my thread but i got benefited from it! lol. My protein really only comes from those power bars i guess. they have 10g of protein, but i dont even know if that is enough ? I have actually been laying off the Smart Ones lately. I have been eating more salads and sandwiches, is that better?

The crunches do hurt my back haha. well i have had back probs since i was 14 so i never thought it would make it worse, but i guess they do. I can handle strenght training, i do have a membership to LA Fitness which i rarely use. I used to be in a weight lifting class and i loved it. Everytime i do cardio i think i over exert myself because i want to be able to do what i used to be able to do before i gained weight. plus i am a smoker now. my heart rate gets up in the 180- 190's and it scares me. i know the obvious thing to do would be quit smoking but i have never really tried before. I have an oral fixation and i know if i took the cig away, then i would cram food down my mouth instead.  I do go out and do things after work, like play with the horses, go shopping, play with my friends kids. so its not like i sit all day at work and then sit all night at home.

once again thank you for all your advice , it has really helped!!

AHHH! thats a toughie. Last time I went to Panda Express I got a 3 item combo w/ orange chicken, mandarin chicken , and chow mein. I went home after and went on their website to tally the calories.... i could not beleive it! It was over 1,000 cals. ahhh! It was kinda a mini binge for me though since that was all I ate that day besides a granola bar, so i was still under my cals for the day. I did notice on their site when compairing chow mein, white rice, and fried rice that chow mein is actually the lowest calories. I dont know about brown rice though? after reading all the nutrition facts i decided if i eat there again I will get the chow mein, broccoli w/ beef and thats it! I think garlic shrimp would be a good idea though. The frozen garlic shrimp in my freezer that is a chinese version is actually pretty low in calories. Hope that helped!!! :)

power bars!!!!! I LOVE them, they actually taste good. I have one every day. they help me not be hungry throughout the day. They have a full serving of whole grain, 10g of protein, and 5g of fiber. if you haven't tried one...do it!

oh, and my fav. is strawberry crunch which is 240 cals.

I also eat when I am stressed, normally snacking foods like chips or crackers. I have started drinking hot tea alot lately. I didnt even do it as an alternative but now that I thought about it, it does work. I used to be able to sit there and munch on a bag of doritos or pringles until half of them were gone (obv. before i started counting calories) .Now after dinner I make my tea and sip on it for a while. My job stresses me out and I dont stop thinking about it when I get home. Of course there is money, relationships , and other issues in life that stress me too. I would never reccomend this but after I make my tea I have a cigarette on the patio w/ my tea. I love my patio since it overlooks beautiful pine trees, a green belt, and kittens play in the grass. I live in AZ, the desert, so it is nice that my complex has an almost forest getaway. All i need are these 5-7 min. on the patio and i feel sooo much better. Maybe you should try to find your own getaway place to help you de-stress. Im lucky to have found a place in my apt.

I have thought about it, but i have had way too many cheat days lately (pretty much stopped counting for 3 days straight....not good!) Plus i am not a mom so i dont feel that i get to use that excuse haha. My dad is going to be grilling tonight but luckily they are on a diet too , so he told me that he will have chicken. I really appreciate how supportive my dad is of my dieting, he even gives me tips and i give him tips! So i will prob. have a small peice of chicken and some veggies :) yum! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you moms! Don't you dare feel guilty about treating yourselves, you deserve it!

Alot of people will actually reccomend that you do that. At least then you will stay away from high calorie foods and make better choices. Since you have a plan to stick to you are less likely to go over your calories for the day since you know what will make you full. I normally log my food while I am making it or just before i eat it. I dont have a "plan" but that is just because i never have plans, even for my day. so I never know where i will end up that day and what food choices will be available to me. I can understand not wanting to depend on a log to make good food choices but I think if you do if for a while it will just become habit.

thank you fadeaway. it did make sense to me as long as it is a lower calorie soup (like you said, the broth based ones). The soup i eat is about 200-350 cals. i normally cant eat much after the soup anyways. I needed some confirmation on it and you helped :)

my guys friends tell me that i have a big butt alot. they always make sure to say "oh, but that is a good thing" right after they see the expression on my face. I wouldn't say i am disproportionate though since i am a C cup. my mom and sister haveFLAT butts so i am actually happy to have my butt haha. some of my exes said that was there fav. body part on me. that is prob. since it is cool to have a big butt now lol. i believe biking helps tighten your glutes. But until then be proud of your big butt haha! i know i am :)

Thats true, I want to eat on my own schedule. I think it helped me understand why people eat 6 small meals a day instead of the regular 3 meals. One thing that was hard for me was that he said no more than 100 cals for a snack. Most of my snacks are around 100 anyways but i hate being told what i am not allowed to do lol. That made me feel deprived. So i just took some things that I liked from the book but dont follow it really haha.

breakfast is usually btwn 200-450 cals, lunch is 300 cals, snack 100 cals, dinner is normally btwn 350-500 cals, and sometimes dessert 100 cals.

so btwn 500-750. i started my day late today so it is almost 3'o clock and i have had 475 cals and nope im not hungry right now. I woke up at 9am. I will prob. have a big dinner tonight. lol

i just thought about it and maybe weighing yourself every day does help since it is a constant reminder to yourself on how much you actually weigh. I might actually start to do that to motivate me a little bit more!

yes, your face does look thinner. that gets me excited lol. i have a chubby face and it needs to go away! i have lost 4 lbs so far but no difference in apperance to me. keep it up!

well that is good that it didnt make you gain. I only weigh myself once a week and at the same time of the day otherwise i am all over the place on the scale. my weight (weighing on the same scale but diff. hours of the day, diff. days of the week) flucuates 1-3 lbs at any time. It is really weird because a day after I have drank alot sometimes i feel skinnier. maybe that was one of your days that people say you can use to "shock" your metabolism and maybe you needed it since you are so good about staying on track w/ your calorie counting! well i hope you had a fun night lol.

HAHA , i totally agree w/ the coffee and cigs! lol i have had to put out a cig before ( a couple times) to go inside. My sister and I have mentioned many times that cigs can do that....AND coffee that is def. a laxative

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Power Bar, 250 cal, full serving of whole grain, 10g of protein, and 5g of fiber! keeps me FULL. I eat one almost every day and i love how they taste :)

or... you can always eat 500 calories less and burn 500 calories extra per day by excercising if you cant imagine eating 1,000 calories less, and want to lose weight quickly.

I use Celestial Seasonings (i think that is what its called? it might be Celestial Seasons..). I get the variety pack or just honey chammomile (dont know how to spell it) by its self. For iced tea I get Arizona Iced Tea diet green tea, it has ZERO calories :) yay! It's crazy how many iced teas have a lot of calories!

I never add anything to my tea. I think it tastes great without anything extra. My mom always added honey and i thought about it, but it is just extra calories.

I really doubt it does anything good for your metabolism. Its an energy drink so it is made to make you feel awake. I doubt it will slow your weight loss, it just adds calories and as long as you stay under your calories for that day then, why not have one.

I have always thought of dreaming as the bodies way of staying sane, we play out things like that in our dreams so we dont become crazy in real life. So maybe since you feel deprived of these foods you dream about them so you dont go off and eat them in real life! well, thats how i like to look at it anyway :)

I feel your pain. I have been on my diet for 2 weeks now and i have lost 4 lbs. which is what they say is healthy to lose, 2 lbs a week. I want to lose more and faster. I know if I excercised more, I could lose more... like 2-3 lbs more a month. 

so far today i have had....

breakfast: coffee and cinnamon toast crunch cereal bar(180 cal for the bar)

Lunch: oatmeal raisin power bar, 250 cal. ( i work on the phones and dont get a very long lunch break. I eat these and i dont feel hungry and they are quick)

and right now i am snacking on sunflower seeds which are 190 cals for a 1/4 of seeds w/o the shell. but 15 grams of fat....

dinner: plan on a fettucini alfredo smart ones dinner and prob. some triscuits. for a drink tea :) no cal=love

I dont even feel hungry right now, i think i may be snacking out of boredom. i weight 181 and im 5'9, so i am overweight. I used to be 115 when i was 14, but dont want to be that skinny again. I was happy when i was about 145, so i am trying to get back to that ASAP!

oh yeah, excercise... im really bad w/ it cause i am lazy

I have an aerobics video that i prob really end up doing once a week w/ 3 lb dumbells. I was going for 3-4 days a week, but i am seriously just too lazy. I do 100 crunches and 15 reverse sit ups every night. last night i went w/ my roommates to the track at the highschool and ran 1/4 mile and walked 1 3/4 mile. i have no clue if this hepled you at all since i have some bad habits. hope it did though!
