I had that problem when I went on the Slim4Life diet. I went for months doing everything they said and never had a problem, and then one day I got so sick I couldn't even go to work (though I was feeling just fine before, and about 2 hours later when it finally stopped) Think it was just a virus or something, I went back to the same routine the next day... same problem. I stopped taking the supplements after that (partially just because they made the problem more foul..) and it stopped. Until I ran out of money and started drinking the Slim Fast Protien Shakes instead of their snacks, and then a couple months later tried the weight control vitamins by onea day. Yeah, same problem. Turns out it was Vitamin K.

Vitamin K is sort of like fiber in that your body never actually digests it.  It lines the intestines to aid in digestion, and some claim, reduce the body's absorption of fats. About one in ten people have extremely adverse reactions to the high dosage that is recomended as a diet supplement. Turns out I was one. Whatever I was eating in combination with the supplements was just too much for my body.

I'd wonder if maybe prunes pack any K? And your multivitamin?

I've heard that the minimum that any woman's body can run on is 1250 cal/day. And that was from my Doctor.... Which means that you should never eat less than that.  If you do, your body tries to store it's fat because it thinks that it is starving.

Muscle tissue is much easier for it to break down than fat to begin with so, even if you do lose weight, it will probably be muscle. Especially as women who were designed to store energy (fat) for when our men were off hunting food (back in the day... when we were the hunting gathering type o' folk) for days at a time, this genetic predisposition will be triggered if you are not eating enough.

Even though we have evolved, if we don't maintain our bodies needs our animalistic functions will return.

Fat free frozen yogurt... up until a couple of years ago my mantra was "if it doesn't have fat it doesn't count" needless to say I O.D.ed on sugary pop and sweets of all sorts.

Luckily I'm wiser now. And still fighting to fix what I did to my body, but I still can eat a pint of Fat Free Frozen Yogurt if I'm not paying attention. Now I eat those skinny cow treats, they are great because they are preportioned.

Weight Loss Meal Planning? May 19 2008

These are all really good ideas, I guess, strange as it is, I never thought of actually preparing the meals in advanced.  I'm excited to try this. Although, I do have to admit, I'm a bit of a snob about variety.

I like to have a lot of different things all the time.  But, I could have wildly different meals from week to week probably. Just the same thing for a week at time.

Quick preparation is key, I have a day job at an office, where I sit a lot and go home for my hour long lunch break. And then a night job as a waitress, where I'm tempted for hours while running around and completely exhausted (which doesn't help those carb cravings.)

Lindsay, I'm totally game to be your buddy.  I'm at 156-ish, so you and I are in the same place right now, and I can't honestly say I'd mind getting down to 125 (though that's beyond my wildest imaginings at the moment) in the least before my wedding!

I'm certainly up for this challenge. I need to lose 20 pounds by September 21. (Well hopefully before!) And I could sure use all the friends I can get in this! Have you recently lost a lot of weight? I ask because you said the "last 10-20" I have, I know this is how I feel... I'm already so much better off than I was... I really shouldn't have to work THAT hard should I??? hahaha, but I do. :) Besides, I want to look hot as hell on my honeymoon, and maybe break out my first ever 2 piece!!

Any particular reason you chose October?

I agree with all of the above, I also like dried fruit. And if you have access to hot water or a microwave, the instant maple and brown sugar oatmeal now comes in "weight control" it's a goodway to curb a craving for sweet cakey things.

What an awesome discussion!

1. Saw my mom go through Gastric Bypass after YEARS of yo-yo dieting and it scared the hell out of me.

2. I'm getting married. Not only do I want to fit into the wedding dress I picked out 20 pounds ago. But also, I don't want to be freaking out on my wedding night that my muffin top will send him packing (I know how lame this sounds... but, what can I say! Nerves!)

3. I have NEVER worn a two piece.

4. I have always been "the fat one" and I'm down 60 pounds, almost the thinnest I've been in my life (with the exception of a few months ago), if all it takes is another 30 to be another face on the street, why not?

Yay, I'm so exceited about this forum!! I'm getting married Sept. of this year, I bought my dress back in January and left it at the store for storage (I live with my fiance and a wiley cat neither of whom I want to get their paws on it....) And now, four months and twenty pounds later, I'm AFRAID to go get it... because I know it won't fit me. So, the question is, half way to my wedding, can I take off the weight as quickly as I put it on?! Four months to go down 20 LBs. The thing is, in january I'd just reached my goal, I'd lost 60 lbs.... and I was so excited about the timing, since all my family and friends I hadn't seen in how long were going to be here... unfortunately, the way I lost (strict, STRICT diet control and no excercize) made it impossible to keep up longterm. Grr... So, here's my attempt at doing this ina healthy sustainable way... Whilst dealing with the tremendous stress of the whole wedding thing....

Your goal is pretty much the same as mine!! Do you have a time limit? I have a wedding Sept. 21... and unfortunately... I bought my dress three months ago... and have gained 20 pounds since then. So, as much as I would love to weigh under 130, the essential part is getting to 137 by mid-Sept! :)
