I heard somewhere that can be related to a hormone imbalance which is sometimes caused by the body not getting enough fat. Females need at least 30% fat in their diet. I would give that a try..

Health & Support Bulimia Recovery - Day 6 (this is wearing on me guys!) Jul 25 2008
17:40 (UTC)

Hi. I totally agree that it's helpful if you think about your priority being recovery over weigh loss. After you recover, there are a million things you can do to reach a healthy weight.

About recovery: something that helped me is have structure in my eating. Don't skip meals, even if you're not that hungry when it's time to eat. And try to avoid your binge foods. I think the ideal thing would be to have about 5-6 small meals a day. Shoot to eat at least the amount of calories CC says you are burning. I know for me it's hard not so shoot for 1000cal/day, but to eat as much as I need. Think of it as part fo the recovery.

Another thing that helped me has been to make sure I'm getting all the protein I needed. An omlette with veggies and a piece of whole-wheat bread (english muffin/oatmeal with no sugar) in the morning helps me stay satisfied for longer. Also, grilled chicken/lean meat and salad for lunch and something hot for dinner(steamed veggies, brown rice/baked sweet potatoe and stewed/grilled/baked lean meat) for dinner. You should also allow yourself to have dessert every once in a while. And allow yourself to snack on healthy stuff: string cheese, hummus and veggies, pretzels, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese.

I also find it helpful to drink water, I replaced my urge to just snack on sweets all the time with just having a glass of water and drinking all the time. Green tea also helps, because I think it helps with metabolism with all the antioxidants it contains.

Try making a meal plan for yourself and stick to it. And if you feel like bingeing, go for a walk/chew gum/call somebody. Working out regularly (without killing yourself - just do something you enjoy doing) should also help.

Fitness Cellulite. Has anyone had success with it? Jul 25 2008

If you lose weight, that will reduce your cellulite. I had gained about 20 pounds about a year ago and I had cellulite on the upper part of my legs. I lost weight without even thinking about it and that reduced it a lot. I think cellulite is just fat, so if you lose fat you will loose cellulite too. I also used firming lotion, but I'm not sure how much that helped.

it looks like you will have pretty much all the ingredients in the eggs and sausages.. Some of the fat in the sausages will go into the water as you boil them, but then you boil the eggs in that water, so I would just log the sausages  (raw) and eggs.

Grilled chicken salad with a low-fat dressing on the side. Sometimes I make a salad at home and bring it with me. Or even a frozen meal that I can microwave at work. I also like to get cut veggies and hummus to snack. What do you usually have for lunch?

Don't try to make yourself throw up, because that can really kill you. Your body is craving food, because it's been starved for so long. Try to make a plan for what to eat and plan to have something to do after you eat. Ask a couple of friends for help. Have you tried a protein&fiber rich breakfast? For example omlette with lots of veggies and cheese? Eating some good fats in the morning helps you with craving fat later in the day. And eating eggs in the morning has helped me crave sugar later in the day. If you plan to do something right after breakfast, that would help too. You can even pack your breakfast and have it somewhere else where there is no food.

Here's a menu that has helped diminish my cravings(eat every 3 hours or so):

Bf: omlette: egg whites 1/2 c + 1/4 c shredded low fat mozzarella + 1/2 c cut broccoli , 1 slice of whole wheat bread, tea/coffee/veggie juice

snack: 1 string cheese, 1/2 red pepper OR 4 tbsp hummus+ 10 baby carrots

Lunch: grilled chicken salad with vinaigrette dressing OR tuna on tossed greens + sugar free jello

snack: low fat cottage cheese, cherry tomatoes OR low fat cream cheese, celery OR low fat turkey breast slice rolled on a lettuce leaf and stripe of

Dinner: grilled/baked fish/chicken, steamed broccoli (or any other steamed green veggie), tossed salad, low fat vinaigrette

Dessert: Low fat yogurt with fruit/ low fat ricotta with sugar substitute and some kind of flavor (vanilla extract, coffee, etc)

Take care of yourself..

Health & Support Falling back into bad habits - advice? Jun 17 2008

Hi, here's a thought that helps me: your body actually needs some calories.. maybe you can start by mentally saying to yourself that you will try to maintain your current weight. Using CC, you can figure out how many calories you burn per day and try eating those, making sure you're getting all the fat/carbs/protein you need. Maybe you can try maintaining your weight for a while, just to get into the habit of eating right again and then go from there. Try eating lots of protein, they help with curb the appetite a lot. What I realized is that eating the right thing helps your body function well.

Weight Loss Paiyouji Tea Jun 16 2008

Hi, The tea probably made them lose lots of lbs of water, which doesn't really help.. Even if you would not eat anything and burn 3500 calories a day (which would be hard for most of the people), you would lose 1 lb/day, which over 3 weeks may be 21 lbs. But it would be crazy unhealthy and would probably be gained really fast+ you would totally mess up your metabolism and also think about all the protein/vitamins that your body needs for 3 weeks!! 20 lbs in 3 weeks sounds pretty crazy to me. 1 lb a week is good enough.

Hi, you should be patient with yourself. Sometimes our bodies go through weird periods of times. For example, I go through times when I'm not hungry AT ALL and just eat a little bit and gain weight and then I go through times I'm hungry all the time and eat more and lose weight. Especially when you're recovering from an ED things take time to get back to normal. Your metabolism has to get back to a normal pace, since it's gotten slowed down.

I think it's good that you are trying to eat small portions a couple of times a day. I would even try the 5 meals a day thing, if possible at fixed hours (if your schedule allows it). Make sure you get all the protein you need. Fruit sometimes help with raising your appetite.. and so do things that contain sugar (even though some of those are not very good for you, but they may help with getting your metabolism be faster)

Also, it would probably be very good to talk to a doctor about it. They would probably explain a lot of things way better than non-doctors.

Yes. I think that's why I liked it so much: because I love cheesecake :)
