| Weight Loss | Logging my food before I make it! | May 11 2008 05:22 (UTC) |

I do it as well, and it is getting a bit tedious! I think once I get used to eating healthy (still relatively new here) I'm going to try to wing it for a day and see what I end up with. Though I do create my own recipes and I like using the tool to figure them out! I worry that I will get tired of logging and fall off, but I'm hoping that once I get a good amount of recipes down I won't have to do it so much, lol. I suggest just sticking with it until you get back into a routine and have a good idea of what you need to incorporate into your diet to meet your goals. Then maybe you won't have to "pre-log" so much. |

| Foods | What do you eat nearly every day? | May 11 2008 04:40 (UTC) |

I always have yogurt as my after dinner snack! Breakfast- usually cereal with fruit, but if I have time I'll make an egg white omelet with some veggies and a bit of cheese. If I'm really short on time, I'll have a carnation instant breakfast. Lunch- varies depending on what I've cooked lately, but I always have some kind of vegetable and a fruit as well. Dinner- varies a lot! been looking up a lot of really good recipes, I always include a veggie and some protein though. Snacks- string cheese, pretzles (I LOVE sourdough nibblers!), fruit, rice cakes I also always have coffee every morning, and while I've switched from half and half to skim milk (VERY hard for me to do!), I still put raw sugar in it |

I feel your pain! I've only been working at this for a couple weeks, bringing my lunch to work/school every day, and every day people are asking me what I'm eating and why. I happen to like healthy food, like tabouli, but I had such an unhealthy lifestyle and I was so lazy that I would never make myself good stuff to eat. Last week I made a batch, and it was really good! A co-worker came up to me, asked me what I was eating, then asked me "Why would you eat that?", then tried to convince me to go get a sonoran hotdog with him! I know I should be proud of what I'm trying to accomplish, and I am, but people look at me funny when I tell them that I'm just trying to eat healthier. Like it's not obvious that I'm overweight? That making these choices is me working at being a healthier person? Stick with it! We're all here to help each other! |

| Weight Loss | Was anyone woman here "the fat kid" in school? | May 08 2008 19:12 (UTC) |
33 |
Clarice- I know where you're coming from! I was definitely the fat kid! My mom tried to put me on a diet repeatedly starting when I was 11 years old. I love her to death, but that was not helpful! I started out a skinny kid, but then slowly started gaining weight when I was eight and then I just ballooned from there. I know I hit the 200lb mark when I was still in high school. I was definitely anti-social and not very outgoing. I often wonder as well, if I had been a healthy teen, if I would have done better. There's no sense dwelling on it though! I'm doing really well now (academically anyway!), and for all the things from our childhoods that could have messed us up, it's up to us now to do things for ourselves :-) Good luck! |

Original Post by infiniteheart: Thanks! I do try to not set unrealistic calorie intakes, and I've only felt hungry one day this past week (don't really know why). My CC recommendation is 1550, and I've been averaging around that, some days more and a few less. On a side note, I have a banquet tonight and I looked up the nutritional info (it's eggplant parm) and it is ridiculously unhealthy. I don't want to not eat it because the people throwing the banquet put a lot into it, but even just eating half is almost 500 calories and over 2000mg of sodium! That's a lot of salt!! Anyone have any suggestions? |

Thanks for all your support! I know that quitting smoking will help me to exercise (won't be wheezing, lol tbolto- Thanks for the congrats! And congrats to you for quitting! tini87- I'm hoping to kick the oral fixation with nicotine gum, we'll see if it works! I know that constantly looking up calorie info and adjusting my log can't be good, maybe we can try to stop obsessing together? lol fortyandfab- I think it's great that you managed to stay motivated (or get re-motivated!) I don't know if I would have the strength to keep trying, kudos for all your hard work! I've never managed to stay on track for more than a few months, hopefully with CC I'll be able to! Thanks all again, and good luck! |

Thanks for all your help! I've only been keeping track for a week or so, but I have definitely increased my whole grains, fruits and vegetables. As far as seeing a doctor, I could go see one without insurance- they can't turn me away, but I can't afford it! I'm in line for a job in the fall which would give me health benefits, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks as well for the book recommendation, I will check it out! |

I'm eating there this afternoon for a staff lunch and I was searching for nutritional information as well. I found this site (which doesn't have the California Turkey, sorry!) but it does have a few items, and a sandwich that is similar (minus the avocado), and the cookie! Hope this helps. http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrition/search .php?q=paradise+bakery&x=0&y=0 |
