| Foods | Can You Train Yourself To Like Certain Foods? | Apr 17 2009 21:00 (UTC) |

Tastes change with time. I used to hate ice cream, but now I can eat a little every now and then. I didn't train myself to like it, but after almost a decade of avoiding it, I'm again okay with eating it in moderation. As a kid, I was a very picky eater, but as I grew up, I exposed myself to a variety of foods and told myself that I will try everything at least once. I don't eat things I don't like (like basil, I can't stand even a little bit of it as garnish on my noodles, which makes me avoid any kind of Thai food unfortunatelly), but there are many other things I do like or can comfortably eat. That said, what you are doing is alright. If there are foods you'd like to get used to, try them every now and then in different forms. Don't force yourself to eat them, and try to eat them in situations you enjoy. That might sound irrelevant, but it does help. Food is just something you get used to and if you can associate it with something pleasant, it will be a lot easier. |

So wait... there are actually women here who believe it is perfectly normal to go through the agony of waxing pubic hair every few weeks and then the period of it growing back out of (or even worse under) the skin all of which is very painful and uncomfortable not to mention dangerous as it creates multiple wounds in the most sensitive part of the body? You can't be serious? O_o |

Sweets: any sweet fruit, usually whatever is in season. Strawberries, peaches, nectarines, apricots, grapes, melons, cantaloupes, apples, etc. I don't add sugar, because I don't really like sweet stuff that much. I also love Lindt chocolate, so if I'm craving something fat/sweet, I eat one of their Lindor truffle balls which is some 80 calories. Salty/fat cravings are usually addressed with a meal (soup, sandwich, something cooked), so I don't feel the need for salty/fat snacks, which means I can't really help you there. :/

Ironically, I don't even have the time to research how to meditate, but my friend suggested this website to start off with meditation: I hope it helps. I should take the time to explore it too. |

Max & Erma's have "no guilt" meals on the menu with some nutrition information such as calorie count and they are pretty tasty. However, when I eat out, I try to find a sushi place, since miso soup and one special sushi roll are usually enough for a nice meal that leaves me full, yet isn't too rich in calories. |

I'm in pretty much the same situation. I eat to fit in, so when I'm with my boyfriend or friends it usually means eating out and not always healthy food. When I'm with my family though, it's mostly healthy food, but since I love my mom's cooking, I tend to eat more than I should. When I was in college, I didn't exercise, but I didn't eat much either, so I was very happy with my body. Now I try to exercise more and get back to where I was 5 years ago, but with a more active and social lifestyle. |

| Health & Support | Distorted Body Image? How do you deal? | Jul 10 2008 19:19 (UTC) |

DO get a mirror and use it. You are probably used to your image from before and that's stuck in your head. It might have averted you from looking at your image in the mirror, which then lead to a discrepancy in your actual image and the image of yourself that you have in your head. I would suggest getting a good flat mirror and putting it on the wall somewhere in your house where you pass often. Then stop by that mirror and look at yourself for a few minutes several times a day. The more often you see yourself, the more familiar you will become with what your body looks like. It will also give you some insight in tracking your progress on those pounds you still want to lose. Take care! |

I'm 5'6" and still have to lose 15lb to get to my goal of 115lb. So far I've lost about 9lb since April 30th when I started using CC. I feel okay as I am right now, but I would like to lose some fat from certain parts of my body. My biggest problem with losing weight is that I get bored with counting calories, and then after a while forget how much I'm supposed to eat, so I eat more than I should. I did become more active since I started counting, and it hasn't changed. I have to make sure I log my calories at least for 2 weeks each month just to keep my food intake in check, but it's not that easy. :/ |

Have you tried talking to your parents about it? Parents are usually concerned about their kids even when there is nothing to worry about. Eating healthy and exercising to lose weight shouldn't be something your parents keep you away from, but they might be concerned that you will eat too little and go under your healthy range. My way of dealing with my parents in those situations is to just talk to them, remind them of the times they said something about my big butt, tell them what my goals are, how I plan to achieve them, and make sure they understand that my goals and means of getting there are indeed healthy and good for me. It helps to post that on the fridge or some place easily visible, so everyone can get reminded of what it is you are trying to do. Just hang in there and eventually they will accept your way of dealing with your body, especially if it's the healthy way.

| Young Calorie Counters | skipped exercise? | May 15 2008 22:58 (UTC) |

One day skipped due to weather shouldn't really matter much. You could go lower on calories if you are worried about it, or do some exercise at home. Walking is a great form of exercise, but it's not the only one you could do. Some calisthenics would be a good substitute for your regular walks, and might even be more beneficial, since you would exercise different muscle groups than when you are walking. |

Don't stay under 1200 calories. Even for one day it's not healty. Better get your normal daily calories and do some extra exercise. That way you will feel a lot better about yourself and you will not feel like you are starving yourself. You took 4000 calories in one day, but you shouldn't try to make up for that in one day. Spread that over the next few days by eating a little less and doing a bit more.
Good luck! |
