Motivation Someone want to help me stay accountable? Jun 25 2008

This might get lengthy. Currently I am 5'5 and 198 LBS.  I started on June 6th at 24 LBS.   My weight has been up and down since high school.  In 10th grade I weighed about 170, then the summer before senior year I got down to about 145 and stayed there until after high school.  When I got pregnant at 20, I was 155.  I was 184 when I delivered, and I lost the weight in 2 weeks.  After a few months, it crept back up and hovered in the 160-170 range.  I started taking phentermine in March of 2004, weighing in at 183.  I got down to 150 for my wedding in July of 2004, but as soon as I stopped taking the pills, I soared back up to the 180s.  I was on and off the phentermine for a couple years, hovering once again at the 170-180s range (I never could take those pills regularly, so after that first big loss, I never lost much after that.)  When I got pregnant in April of 2006, I weighed 184 and delivered him at 224!!  I ended up going BACK on the phentermine after I had my son in January of 2007, and the lowest I got then was about 180.  I stopped taking the pills, only because my insurance no longer paid for them.  I quickly ate my way to 204, and FINALLY decided that I need to quit with the damaging pills, if I want to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF I have to change my LIFESTYLE!!  So I’ve started somewhat following the Weight Watchers Core plan, and counting calories, trying to keep between 1200-1500 each day.  My goal is to eventually be back to the 140-150 range.  My eating has NEVER been healthier, and I’ve lost 6 pounds since June 6th.  In the past, with the diet pills, I lost that much in a week, at least!!  Now I’m content to see GRADUAL, HEALTHY weight loss, I’m patient and determined to change my life.  I’m a single mom, and I finally threw out ALL the junk food and empty calorie foods from the cupboards.  My kids are eating healthier with me.  My mom OBSESSED about her weight and looks her whole life, and is still unhappy and although she looks great, she’s unhealthy.  I don’t want my daughter to be caught in the same self depreciating trap I’ve been caught up in, I want her to be respectful of herself and her body, and to LOVE herself!!  So girls, I’m in.  For me.  For my kids.  I have a friend in my office who is doing the Nutri System plan, and although we cheer each other on and keep each other motivated, I don’t want to get trapped in a FAD diet.  I’m going for life long lifestyle changes.  I need help when I’m having cravings, and when I want to eat for the sake of eating, even when I’m full!  I also need help to get motivated to start exercising…we have a GREAT fitness room here at work, I just need to pick up my feet and go use it!!  So here’s to us, let’s help each other be healthy!!!

I second that...this is my 2nd day here and I'm very excited!  It's been about 5 years since I was at any healthy weight for me...currently I'm 5'5 and 198 LBS.  I too hate going outside, or anywhere public with my kids or boyfriend, because I hate how I look and how I feel.  I'd like to lose 40-50 LBS, and I want to FEEL GOOD about myself!  I'm 26 and I'm really looking forward to meeting friends my age, who are going through the same things as me.  I need lots of support, from people who understand!!!  Good luck to you all, and let's help each other out!!
