I can tell I am really out of practice with this as I have been forgetting to count my calories.  However, I did exercise yesterday, even though it was a mere 35 minutes.  I did the Hill Interval program on the stationary bike and made it 8.2 miles (144 calories) before I had to bolt to the bus stop in order to get home.  I will be working out for an entire hour today, so I should get better distance and burn more calories.  I have decided to do the bike, rather than run, because I want to go mountain biking with the BF this summer and need to practice.  I also signed up to walk/jog a 5K today.  The race is April 4.  I did it once before, but am excited to do it again.

I haven't weighed myself today, but I have a rough estimate for the beginning of the Sumemr Challenge.

CW: 204 lbs

Calories per day (I am assuming this is intake) 1750

GW (for June 22):  190 lbs (Goal Loss 15 lbs)

Hello All.  I howe all of you a HUGE appology for being absent for the past month.  I am truly sorry.  Unfortunately, my job has kept me so busy that I have had very little time to focus on my health, much less check in with the group.  However, there should be a shift in the demands of my job, and I plan to be back in action as of today.  I have added a few pounds, so I am going to be playing catch up, but I am not worried.

So, in a month's time, I am at my starting weight.  Not excited about that, but it is my own fault for not staying active and giving in to cravings.  I went grocery shopping yesterday and think I have come up with "healthy" alternatives to the bad foods that i have been craving lately.  I am also doing a practice week this week for the perfect burn challenge.  Wish me luck!

Women who live together or work together or are friends have  a way to "syncronize" their TOM. It's a proven fact.

Since I've been on the pill of course, I didn't have same experiences b/c TOM comes at a set date and is maybe off by a day. But before that, I used to have TOM at abt the same date as  mom (when we lived together).

 It's pheramones (not sure if I spelled that correctly).  Anyway, if I can remember freshmen pshycology, pheramones are responsible for the natural "smell" that people emitt that causes members fo the opposite sex to be attracted to them (which increases when you sweat) and cause women who spend a considerable amount of time together to adjust to the same cycle.  That was proven quickly when everyone on my floor in college ended up on very similar schedules.  Pre Birth Control, it happened with me and my roommate and with my collegues at work...we call one of my coworkers teh Alpha Female because everyone adjusts to her.

Congratulations, Yiscah!  Maybe it was only ten minutes of exercising, but ten minutes is better than nothing.  Plus, it shows true commitment and follow through,,,it is really easy to blow this stuff off, but you stuck to it.

Hello, All.  I have been reading through your posts and am sorry to hear about bad weather and illness.  We have been blessed with upper seventies temps this week.  Unfortunately, I will be headed up to see my parents on Tuesday and as of now they have snow.  I wish they lived closer and in a better climate.  

I checked my weight this morning and found that I am still at 201.  That is good considering that I haven't exercised since Monday.  On the other hand, I have been careful with my food choices.  I will be doing some serious house cleaning this weekend which should help me burn a few extra calories.  I also plan on getting at least one workout in so maybe I will be able to report a loss on Monday.

Since we officially start our target area challenge on Monday, I was wondering what those of you focusing on abs and thighs are planning on doing to work those areas out. 

I hope everyone is doing well...or on the way to being well.  I will check back in on Monday.....after all of my morning errands.

Good Afternoon, All.  I have been slow on the uptake, but here is my information:

My name is Kara.  I am 25 year old professional.  I am not married and do not have kids so there are two fewer excuses for me when it comes to why I am not exercising.  (I applaud those of you who can maintain all of that and manage to workout.)  I do have a pretty demanding job so there may be periods of time in which you do not hear from me.  However, know that challenges like this have been the main source of my success since I started CC and I will not abandon you. 

Today's Weight: 201lbs.

Goal Weight for September: 180lbs.

Overall Goal: 140lbs.

I took my measurements the other night, but failed to record them.  (I was really tired that night.)  I will have them posted by the beginning of that portion of the challenge. 

Areas I would like to see get smaller: thighs and stomach/gut....yeah, I have one.  I would also like to tone my arms, but I guess I should take it one challenge at a time. 

I hope you all are having a great Monday.  You can do this!

I am at 204 today which is a 3lb loss.  I am so happy to be back on track.  I am also proud of myself for choosing healthier options and smaller portions while eating out this weekend. 

I am totally into continuing the group, but I would like us to keep some sort of challenge portion to it...something to keep us goal oriented.  Whatever you all decide to do, I will be right there with you, providing that I am informed of the new group's final name and link.  Wink

Happy Friday, Everyone!  I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I am expecting a loss this week!  I have been doing very well with sticking to healthy meals and snacks as well as exercising everyday.  I hope that you all are making progress as well.  We have just under 3 weeks to get this done and it would be great to see everyone walk away with some weight loss, inches lost, muscle gain, or all of the above.  I am cheering for you all.  Have a great weekend!

The temptation of Thanksgiving, and the following weekend, caused me to gain a pound so I am now at 207.  I am back at square one, but I am not going to give up.  I am planning a new year's party and will be my sister's maid of honor in July so those are keeping me motivated. 

Yella, I too think that I am becoming a victim of weight loss in the chest.  It took until about two years ago for me to be comfortable and happy with the size of my boobs, and now they are going away.  I really wish that weight was coming off of my thighs instead.  Oh well, I will make do with whatever I end up with.

Sarah,

You are not letting the group down.  Please post, especially when things are bad, so that we can do our job of keeping you up.  I understand that lack of will power; that is what has kept me from losing weight for the better half of my life.  The thing that is different now is that I have gotten into a momentum.  I set goals for myself and I share them with others to get that sense of accountability.  They are not difficult goals compared to everyone else, but they are what I know I can accomplish if I push myself just a bit.  Take baby steps to get back into the exercise game....a walk down the road a couple times a week, one day at the gym, doing some crunches or lunges during comercial breaks during Grey's Anatomy (or whatever you enjoy watching), even your own little dance party in your living room a day or two a week.  Let your energy, and your momentum, build and you will start to push yourself more.  I sometimes think of a picture or two of myself during a workout thatI hate and it  makes me pedal or walk just a little bit faster b/c I don't want to go back to that. 

If nothing else, I will get on here every day and ask you what exercise you did during the day.  (And you can do the same to me.)

Above all, don't be so hard on yourself.

203 this morning.  That was wonderful to see.  It reflects the work I have been putting into losing weight this week.  In the past week I managed to cycle for 45 mins. twice, do three 1hr long walks, and do yoga once.  That means that I am short 30 minutes of yoga and my toning/strength training, but I am up one hour of walking.  I am going to try to have a perfect week of nutrition yet again, hopefully this week will be better...the candy is far away from me. 

Just a fun suggestion, try shampooing your carpets.  I did that this weekend, and not only worked up a sweat, but also didn't continually snack while I was watching TV later on because all of the dining room furniture was blocking food access in the kitchen while the floors dried.  Tongue out

I am sticking to my Monday weigh-in so I dont' have anything to report in that department.  However, I do have a pre-weekend report of my "Quest" progression.  I have done okay with my nutrition part, I just need to get the left over Halloween candy out of my office.  I am lagging behind in the exercise department.  I started the week off strong, but the past two nights have been late nights at work and I just wanted to eat dinner and go to bed when I got home.  I still have time to get caught up so wish me luck. 

Here is my question to the group today: I am wanting to host a game night this weekend and serve some snacks.  Besides veggie and fruit trays, any suggestions on tasty yet healthy party snacks?

Lynn, Thanks for the advice.  Planning in advance is something I need to accomplish because my schedule is never the same two days in a row. 

I have been able to get back into the exercise routine again and am feeling great after just two workouts.  I still need to research some running programs so that I can get the slow start I need and be able to stick with it.

I am up for the perfect eating challenge, and possibley the learning to run challenge. 

I sat down last night, after my workout, to make my November Game Plan.  Here is what I came up with:

Name of the Game: Quest for Kara's Sexy Figure

Exercise: Cycle for 45 minutes 2X per week, Walk for 1 hour 2X per week, Strength Training/Toning for 45 minutes 1X per week, 10 Minute Yoga routine 4X per week

Nutrition: Breakfast-oatmeal and 1 scrambled egg, Morning Snack-yogurt, Lunch-Salad, Soup, or Sandwich, Afternoon Snack-fruit, fruit cup, or raisins, Dinner-Protein, whole grains, and veggies, Evening Snack-low calorie jello, Other- Add Wheat germ where possible, 60 oz of water per day, and take daily vitamin.

I am at 206 today.  Not good, but, once again, not as bad as I imagined it to be.  Now that my life has returned to normal, I anticipate the weight to start coming off again.  I am supposed to walk with a friend after work today, but, of course, it is raining.  However, I have decided that if that doesn't work out I will go to the gym on my own.  I  WILL be less than 200 lbs. by the New Year!  Lynn, thanks for sharing your plan with the rest of us... I need someone with discipline to motivate me to do the same.  I will probably come up with a plan later today so that you all can hold me accountable.  Good Luck to you all!

Hello, All.  I am sorry that I have not reported my weight this week.  I came back from my hometown/homecoming visit and have been working like crazy ever since.  I did do some walking yesterday, but I can tell it has been a while because that little walk hurt my tush.  Anyway, I will wiegh in on Monday and hopefully I won't be back at square one.

Hey, All!  Sorry for the lateness of my post, but I am currently visiting family and friends in KY and IN.  I did, however, check my weight on Monday to find a surprise, I was up to 205.  I was surprised, because with the amount of junk food I ate last week and the lack of exercise I did, I thought it would be higher.  I am trying to get back on track even in the midst of home cooking, dinners out, and long distance driving.  I think I am doing okay....we will find out next Monday.  I just want to get under 200 lbs.  For now anyway.
