Like everyone else has said, it's most likely a waste of your time and money doing something like fatloss for idiots.

Even if  you could stick to it and make it work until you lose the amount of weight that you want to, when  you go back to 'normal' eating, all the weight will probably come back.

It would be easier to learn about portion control, and try to cut down on the higher calorie foods, replacing them with healthier alternatives.  That way you don't need to restrict yourself to certain foods, you'll be so much healthier, and because you can always plan for those 'naughty' foods it's something you can stick to forever because you can still eat anything you like.. just in manageable amounts to fit into your calorie budget for the day/week/month, however you want to do it.

I hope you find something you're happy with and that will work for you

I had a slice of DP's pizza (300 cals) and a chocolate chip cookie (350 cals) tonight, AFTER my dinner.  I'm way over my usual calorie budget, but within maintenance, so I don't feel too guilty about it.

They were delicious though, so totally worth it =]]

Hey all!

So I haven't posted for.. probably about 2 weeks or something because I just started a new job. The training course started last tuesday, so I've been getting up mega early everyday since then (including the weekend cause we went away.. lol) and getting home totally exhausted, most of the time I've been in bed for 8pm!!

Anyhow, I've basically been eating maintenance calories the whole time, and have done almost zero exercise. It's been really difficult to get good foods to take with me to work since I've not had a chance to get to the store to buy anything, so it's mostly been junky stuff from the work canteen.

Feeling really crappy now, which I think is a mixture of being tired and not getting as much fruit and veggies that I was able to get before I started the job, plus doing no exercise, it has all really taken it's toll on me.  The only good point about it all is that I have been able to drink a lot more water.

I am gonna try to get up earlier.. arggh.. to fit in some exercise, and am considering taking my gym stuff with me to work so that I can go straight to the gym and get a half hour or so in right after work, instead of just getting the bus home. Oh, and of course a grocery trip to get all my lovely fruits and veggies in for next weeks lunches!!

I can do 1 1/2 girl style push ups!! lol. I'll try to work that number up. Also, I find jumping jacks near impossible on floors/pavements, but doing them on grass or a mini tramp is much much easier because the soft land/tramp absorbs most of the impact, instead of my poor joints!

Hope you all are having an easier time of it!

Hey,

I found this calculator which has Tae Bo on it, you just enter how long you do it for, and your weight, and it will tell you how many calories burned.

AUGGGHHHHHHH!!!

So I went to a job interview today because I'm desperately low on money and DP is getting just a wee bit piste off that he is having to pay for everything.

Horrible shifts + good pay = auggggawh;kdfj;dsfhhh

Anyway I need the money lol

I think I'm at like a litre and a half at this point.. 2 litres to go.. and about 4 hours of awake time!! lol.. I think I'll just take the 4 litres into the bathroom and drink it all at once as it goes right through me. That's a fun friday night, right?!

OH, we ended up not going to the movies because the movie that DP wanted to see wasn't being shown at any of the places in the city! So disaster was averted - however, last shopping trip I did actually buy popping corn! Doesn't have anything on it at all, no sugar, no salt, nothin! So I'll take that with me next time we go to the movies - good idea jackie =]]

So I seem to be on like a mini plateau (i hope it's mini) right now. Up to now I've been spending two days on each weight, and then the next day I'm a pound down. Today is the third day of being 238, hopefully tomorrow I'll be 237!

Also today I finally got my digital scales, had to actually go down to the store though, but I was already in town from the interview so that was fine, also got a cute little food processor, so no more excuses to put off making my veggie soups/burgers etc. LOVE it!

Oh, this is something I always think about when I go for job interviews, it really does make the nervousness so much worse!

I don't think that I've ever actually been discriminated against because of it.. maybe one time that I applied for a barmaid type position.. but you never know.

I've got a job interview tomorrow, and again this is weighing on my mind. I know that my weight has zilch to do with the position [it's a call centre] I still feel like employers would rather have thin people around *sigh*

Anyhow, chub2lose makes a good point.. good luck with the interview!

Weight Loss Lymphatic drainage..? May 15 2008

You can help your lymphatic system probably in a lot of ways much cheaper than this.

The two ways I know are:

1. Swimming - Something do to with the water pressure around your body.

2. Trampolining - Being weightless for a split second between jumps allows the valves of the lymphatic system to open, and so allows movement within it.

Plus both of these methods of exercise strengthen your muscles and burn lots of calores.

Good evening, and a Happy Thursday to you all!

Welcome to the newest recruits, Nathan and Liz =]

Ball exercise sounds like good times.. the closest I've got to one of those is a BEACH BALL! I've been using it to do leg lift type things while lying on my mini tramp, much fun!

Water update: today and yesterday I was super lazy and really could not be bothered with water, probs less than a litre both days. I'll pick it up again tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow! A trip to the movies is planned, which means a dodge the PICK n MIX will be in order, eek! I love love love pick n mix, which I suppose is one of the reasons that I'm in my present condition. Fear not, I'm sure I can make it!

I'm like this too, there is no time or place that I can't go to sleep!

I used to sleep as late as possible, right into the afternoon if I could, and would always just ignore my alarm clock.

After doing a bit of googling, the trick seems to be 'practicing' so much that eventually getting up as soon as the alarm clock goes off becomes habit, controlled by the subconcious, rather than having that internal discussion with yourself about just another 10 minutes, one more snooze, etc.

This has worked for me, and I can now quite happily get up at 7:30am when the alarm goes off, no matter what time I go to bed! I can actually get stuff done with my days now.

Here is the link, if you're interested to try it =]

Welcome, welcome to you all! Of course you can still join, the more the merrier, I say!

Update: Water is driving me INSANE! I managed 2.5 ish litres yesterday, and sure I felt good, but I swear I must've been to the bathroom about every 15 minutes! It's ok, if not very annoying, if i'm at home all day.. but what if I want to go somewhere?! lol.. *sigh* still I shall plod on with my watery quest.

Weight loss is going really good this week, I'm seeing a loss of about 1 - 1.5 lbs every second day, so right now i'm way ahead of schedule! Hope it continues!

Also been swimming for 30 minutes two days in a row!! Which I am rather pleased with myself about, although I suspect it's because this week I am able to get a lift to the pool, I'm not sure how well I'll be doing next week when I have to get the dreaded BUS! Eeeks!

Been doing my Billy Blanks Tae Bo DVD aswell, and just want to say that I LOVE it! Highly recommend it to any of you looking for a workout DVD. The part at the end of the cool down moves is really quite touching =]

Today I'm going to attempt to make some low cal banana muffins - wish me luck!

And finally! Well done on 15lbs down Kekri, that's awesome!

Welcome to our happy little gang Jackie and Moolah!

Congrats on the 10lbs lost in 4 weeks Jackie, you're losing over 2lbs a week which is great! That speed of loss seems to be generally accepted as the most healthy way to lose your weight, so well done you =]

I had a quick scan of some articles about  hypothyroidism and how it can cause a lot of problems with weightloss - some suggestions made to help with it are taking St John's Wort [ http://thyroid.about.com/cs/dietweightloss/a/ losingweight.htm ].

"Eating right with hypothyroidism is usually low-sugar, low refined-carbohydrate and high protein" - [ http://www.suite101.com/lesson.cfm/18912/2313 /2 ] <<< this website has a great section about which foods can cause problems for you with hypothyroidism.. something about goiters?! lol I don't know, but if you're interested in more information about how the condition can affect your weight loss, and what might help, this site is great =]

Forgive me if you already know all of this!

Super, mega, ultra determined to get all my water today! 1.2 litres and counting..

Weight Loss So I've noticed May 12 2008
20:36 (UTC)

Yeah I've been eating mostly healthy stuff for the last 2 weeks.. I'm not sure about the low blood sugar thing at all.  I don't portion out my day to like 40% protien, 25% carbs, etc or anything like that.. so it could be some kind of imbalance with that?! Ahh I have no idea.

I'm not particularly worried about it yet.. I'm not getting shakes like you are though :s It just seems really weird.

Congrats on the loss.

Once I get to that stage, I plan on taking my clothes in. Luckily I have a sewing machine and just about enough know-how to do it. I too have spent a lot of money on the clothes I have now, and I won't for one minute consider just giving/throwing them away.

You could always take your clothes to an alterations place if you can't do it yourself =]

The Lounge Is it me or does everyone else seem like PIGS!! May 09 2008

Me too! Friends is an endless source of hilarity..

Anyhow, I think labeling people as pigs is a bit harsh just from looking at their shopping carts.. however I would like to add that for me when I'm out shopping (whether it's just in my head or if it's real) I always feel like people are watching what I pick up and put into my trolley, and it actually gives my will power that little extra boost to walk right past the crisps, sweets, cakes, etc.

So for that reason, I thank all of you judging cart watchers out there.

To answer the original question, I do not feel cheated when the people around me apparently on diets are eating whatever junk food is lying around.  I do feel a little jealous, because quite honestly I still love the way that food tastes.  What keeps me going is knowing that my healthy meal is also delicious, but nutritious, and is making my body a happier place.

Weight Loss Does sweating=calories burning???? May 08 2008
23:04 (UTC)

Yeah I'd have to agree with haley.. from research I've done most sources say that you burn most fat after elevating your heart rate for 20 minutes or more. I think it was meant to be between 55% and 85% of your.. something.. heart rate, which you work out by subtracting your age from 220.

So for example, for me to burn fat effectively I need to raise my heart rate to between 55% and 85% of 198 (220 minus my age 22 = 198). So I would get my heart rate up to between 110 bpm and 168bpm. After 20 minutes, and up to 60 minutes, is determined to be the optimal fat burning period.

Hope that makes sense =]

karefreeman At the moment I'm doing the Hacker Ladder exercises on it (the jogging and jumping parts anyway) so basically jogging and star jumps. I also like to just bounce on it for as long as I can cause it's plain good fun =]

Here's the link to the hacker ladders if you're interested http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/www/subsecti on1_2_5_0_5.html#SECTION0250500000000000000

Links at the top of the page take you back and forth between the pages, and links at the bottom of the page will tell you how to do the exercise lisited.

It's a really simple program and only takes about 10 mins to do a day.

I also do the exercises that came with the instruction leaflet for my mini tramp which are:

toe stepping - just lifting the heel of each foot in a stepping type motion, but always keeping the top part of the foot in contact with the tramp.

jogging for 1 minute bursts, 1 minute rests in between.

and seated bouncing - basically just sitting on the tramp and using your upper body to get a bounce going.. looks kinda silly but fun lol

I know that there are a load of videos you can get to use for mini tramps, but I haven't bothered to get one as yet.. maybe when my balance improves a bit!

Don't think it means you're burning extra calories.. but you would be flushing out toxins from your system which is always good, as long as you're replacing lost fluids with water/tea/juice/whatever.
