After work I'm spending 4hrs in my psych class so I get out at about 8pm. Then it's a 1.5hr commute home. Hmm maybe I'll try some strength training. I have a 1000 page sociology book that's ridiculously heavy.

I’m a receptionist so I’m always sitting at the phone. Would simply standing while answering the phone burn more calories?

Thanks for replying. I usually have my cheat days on the weekends and I don't usually beat myself up about indulging one in a while. Maybe it's the birth control everyone is telling me it makes them moody. I don't think I'm moody but maybe I am?? But I'm definitely extremely hungry.

Weight Loss Females... The perfect body? Jun 11 2008

I absolutely love this thread thank you. It’s about time we see that beauty does come in all shapes and sizes kinda like shoes. I remember talking to some guy friends and they were all of the opinion that there ain’t nothing cute with a woman who looks as if she can bench press them lol. Right now I know a girl who hates being tall and thick. After talking with her I realised she not only wanted to lose weight but she wanted to lose height?! Since she considered the perfect body as one of the cute little cheerleader types. Beauty is really having confidence being yourself, a wonderful personality and a good heart and those qualities are not wrapped in a perfect size. If you don’t have those you’re basically a painting, just good enough to look at but let’s face it there is only so long you can stand looking at the Mona Lisa.

Since classes have started back I’m only able to go to the gym 2 days for the week but on weekends I get some jogging/running in. For the past week I’ve been on Diane 35, this is the first time in my life I’ve been on birth control and from day one I was seriously hungry! I would wake up absolutely starved and feeling really weak and shaky even though I’m eating the same amount of calories (1400). I refuse to gain weight on birth control so I’m totally ignoring these weird starvation feelings and the only thing that really helps is when I go running. Strange huh? The minute I get my body really up and moving the ravenous hunger disappears and I have more energy. Anyway here’s the big weigh in

SW: 182lbs

CW:132lbs whoo hooo

GW:120lbs

I’ve officially lost 50lbs holy cow! I was 182lbs in August 2007 my goal was to be 130lbs by August 2008. Looks like it’s gonna happen before then yeah.

When you want veggies on a cheat day.

When fruit is considered a snack.

When you don’t think it’s weird to know the calorie count of foods.

When you have to buy new undies because the ones you own are all baggy from the weight you’ve lost!

I just love food. Healthy food, unhealthy food it doesn't matter. Kinda glad I gave up the dream of becoming a chef I would like been ginormous! I'm also an emotional eater whenever I get mad I need to chew on something. I know weird huh? And when I'm depressed Lord knows I'd be able to finish a pint of Haagen Daz by myself and then reach for the large bag of potato chips and wash it down with a large box of cereal with milk. Sure glad those days are over. Kinda scared to buy that Haagen Daz haven't had the stuff in over 7months.

OMG you are exactly where I was a few months ago. Excercising, dieting and the scale or measuring tape not moving is enough to drive someone bonkers. I even went to my doctor and he told me I should quit worrying about losing weight since he believes it was the stress. I was so mad when I left his office wondering what the heck does he know? Turns out months later after even more worrying I finally gave up on the scale and could you believe I lost 30lbs in three months? Turns out there is some truth to that stress thing. Then I remembered the times I lost weight without even trying (no diet, no excercise) and it was always when I was on vacation. Go figure. So maybe it could just be a lot of stress. Well that my two cents.

Hi everyone, I have my before and after pics posted in my gallery. Anyway here is my weigh in

Height 5'4"

SW: 182lbs

CW: 136lbs

Wow I never thought I'd be this low again. You only realise you're losing a lot of weight when you have to consistently buy new undies because the ones you own are too baggy lol! Treated myself to some new clothes over the weekend beause I had a minor Janet Jackson moment at work because of a top that had become so baggy. There wasn't a total flash of boobage but definitely way too much clevage on display he he he.

I'm 5'4" tall and  weighed 182lbs which was the first pic taken in August 2007. Right now I'm between 136-138lbs. My doctor wants my BMI to be as low as possible beacuse of my PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) since body fat increases symptoms. So my goal weight is 120lbs I've lost a little over 42lbs. This site is so good since now I'm able to type in everything I eat and easily calculate my calorie intake which is between 1200-1400 most days and 1800-2000 on the weekends. Yeah weekends are my cheat days.

Yeah spotting and even breakthrough bleeding is normal on birth control pills.  I dont take the pill now though.  I have hypothyroidism that's why i have no or scanty menstrual periods now i had fertility problems and had to have help to have 2 of my children i have now.  I also have PCOS too (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and it makes it hard to lose weight too.  I have a double whammy!! I was told i didn't ovulate that's why i had to have fertility help.  Well low and behold last year (2007) i started taking care of myself joined weight watchers and wasn't on anything except my thyroid pill and i found out i was pregnant on my own this time last year!! I was shocked to say the least.  The reason i was on birth control years ago was to regulate my menses.  It made me sick to take the ortho though so i stopped it once it made me bulemic.  I knew it was wrong but hey it was making me lose weight.  The counseling helped tremendously and i found out alot about myself through it.  Found out i was very co-dependant through the counseling.  Thanks i might email you too! You can talk to me anytime too!! thanks!!

I also have PCOS and it is ridiculously hard to lose weight. I'm on Diane 35 and I'm hoping for no weight gain *fingers crossed*

OK - let me explain this gourmet meal to you Americans - missing out on soo much....First you need proper chippy chips - big, thick and yummy (kind of like "fries" but chunkier, and crispier).  Then butter two thick slices of soft white bread, and make a sandwich ("buttie").  Ketchup, vinegar,  and salt are all optional condiments on this particular English / Irish delicacy.  A gazillion ca lories, too many carbs and fat grams and sodium to even count.  A wee piece of heaven (drool, sob cos can't possibly have one.....)

Wait this actually has a name?Surprised  And here I was thinking I had invented this when I was a kid. I hadn't had one in years. Thanks for the memories.

Chicken breast and fish are my favorite protein sources.  Try to limit all the bread you're eating and crack open a can of tuna and eat it over a salad.

This is my first week back on bread in a few months and I’ve only been eating the one or two slices. So should I just throw back out the bread and eat the oatmeal with a banana but where do I add the protein? Ad how do I distribute it throughout the day? Does one chicken breast cover the daily allowance? Can you tell I’m a newbie at this lol?

I just love this question and all the responses. So here’s my $0.02

1. To be able to wear a Carnival costume and play mas with my bf and look hot. If you’ve ever seen pics of Carnival in Rio, Brazil you realise that the costumes are virtually extremely small string bikinis with a few strategically placed feathers and beads. Yeah I want to wear the itty bitty costume and look hot.

2.  To be rid of the infamous chub rub. I have a pair of black jeans that are rubbed completely white by the inner thighs.

3. To eventually run a marathon.

4. To have a smaller waist. Yes it’s superficial but once upon a time I had a 22” waist. Right now I’d settle for a 27” waist.

5. Maybe my stretch marks won’t be that noticeable if I’m smaller. I’m just plain hoping.

6. To have my bf friends be jealous of the kind of gf he has. Yeah makes no sense.

7. To forever banish from my life creepy weirdos whose pickup line is “I like thick girls like you.” If I’m not thick they won’t be around right?

8. To stop being referred to as the thick girl.

9. To gain more muscle tone to prevent my bubble butt from becoming a giant saggy sack. Yeah having a big booty is great but having to fight against gravity…….. not so great.

10. To be able to sit on my bf shoulders. Not that I actually want to but I would like that option to stay open.

OK, yeah, I glare at my pudgy spots a good deal. A lot, actually.

But what really has me tearing up every time I took in a mirror is all my scars. I mean, I have virtually no skin from the neck down that isn't covered in scars.

I have stretch marks on my shoulder, chest, back, stomach, butt, and legs from prolonged use of steroids (for medical purposes), a long purple scar on the front of my left leg from falling down when I had virtually no blood count (therefore the wound never scabbed over, just became this spongy purplish thing), a long pink line on my left shoulder from a partial replacement, smaller ones on my right shoulder from a core decompression (drill little holes in the bone so the body will hopefully repair itself, rather than needing a second replacement), and puckered skin on my chest from a few different central lines.

It doesn't matter how much weight I lose, or how toned I get. I will never be able to wear a bikini and consider myself beautiful.

Oh, wow. I haven't given in to the self-pity in a long time. I apologize for being the recipient of the long-awaited pity fest.

I also have stretch marks from medicinal steroid use. After visiting one of those expensive spas to talk about laser treatment the lovely lady there told me it’s cost me $5000 a session and I’d need maybe 3-4 sessions. Yeah right! After picking my jaw from off the floor I promptly told the lady that this is where I learn to love more of myself. What else can you do? They are there to stay. Glad to see I’m not the only sufferer though.

Hey everyone just wanted to share that yesterday at my sister’s company sports day I ran the women’s 400m dash and placed 3rd out of 14 people. Some of these people were teenagers and really really fit women (it was an open event). I even had to fight for that bronze medal from a girl with some seriously muscular legs. Wow I feel so proud of myself! You know what? That’s exactly what life needs more medals. I just love that “I did it, I really did it” feeling.

Hi I’m 5’4” tall to and only eat roughly 1400-1500 cals a day (on weekends I go to 1700 or even 2000) and it took me seemingly forever to drop below 140lbs (currently 138-139lb). I also fluctuate daily and it’s totally frustrating. Try either upping the amount of cals you’re burning or lowering (100-200) the amount of calories you’re consuming. I usually try to burn between 300-400 cals on the treadmill that’s like 60-75 mins. But slowly decrease you cals daily. Hope it helps.

I am feeling so proud of myself I got through the whole month of April and Mid May without gaining 10lbs or any weight for that matter. I actually think I lost a lb or 2. Let me explain. There are 5 people including myself who has birthdays in April and Mid May so that’s almost one slice of cake a week ranging from cheesecake to some sinfully dark chocolate creation all of which I ate since I’m just too polite to chuck something given with a good heart down the bin. Toss in 3 company bar-b-ques with lots of bread, rice, macaroni and potato salad but no tossed salad and one company dinner which I ate pretty healthy. But I made sure to attend the gym at least three times a week would go for five but don’t want to aggravate an old lower back injury. So some days I eat 1140 cals and others 1400 and on weekends as high as 1700 and so far so good.

I am sure we all go through this, but how do you ladies avoid those sweet cravings during "that time"? I am having major cravings and I feel like binging. just want to know how you guys get through this?

Now for the weigh in:

WW: 135

LW: 134

CW: 133.4

Have a great day everyone!

I either try to hold off until my cheat day on Saturday or just “give in” gently when the craving isn’t going away. My logic, it’s better to have one cookie and satisfy the craving than allowing it to build and build and before you know it you’re eating boxes of cookies and washing it down with ice cream. I remember someone talking about the whole forbidden food theory. If you ban the things you love to eat it then becomes more desirable hence you’re gonna crave it more.

He everyone, thanks for making me feel so welcome. Finished work pretty late yesterday so I only spent one hr in the gym and thought to maximize the time by doing circuits. So it was running for 5 mins, then lift weights for the back, chest, stomach, arms, legs and calves then back on the treadmill for 5mins. It’s better than doing nothing right? Recently told my bf how much I used to weigh and what I currently weigh now. He was like “180lbs real? Honey you never looked that big.” Aww isn’t he sweet? Blind but sweet.

Weight Loss What's your weight loss pet pieve? May 13 2008

My pet peeves:

#1. My mom making a comment that my butt is looking all saggy! After losing 42lbs and finally seeing some muscle tone it’s not the butt it’s the clothes. Jeez Louise I’m now pinning up my work pants and punching new holes in my belts because my clothes are just way too big. I’m already spending money on healthy food I can’t think about clothes right now.

#2. Dogs. In particular people who leave their dogs to wander around freely when I go for my morning jog. Nearly got bit just the other morning.

#3 People who were quick to tell you when you were getting fat but those same people refuse to mention your weight loss. I mean why did you feel the need to mention that my butt was starting to become the size of a small middle eastern country hmmm?

#4 The people who I call the mannequins of the gym. They only come to the gym to be seen but not to sweat. I’m sorry when I go to the gym it’s to sweat A LOT. I don’t need dirty looks because I’m working on me thank you very much. This is a gym not a catwalk.

#5 Men who ogle your butt at the gym when you’re running on the treadmill. Yes I am aware that there is some jiggling going on and you staring is just making me feel self conscious.

Okay I’m gonna quit while I’m ahead. If I go on any longer I may need a therapist’s couch lol.
