Weight Loss Can you really lose weight with Nutrisystem? Sep 15 2009
15:58 (UTC)

Yes you can, I did it a couple months ago and lost about 7lbs in the first two weeks. Unforutnately, thats all I lasted! The food was TERRIBLE! (I only enjoyed the pizzas really..) and none of it needed to be refrigerated, which kinda grossed me out because some of them are MEAT packed in gravy and stuff, that just sit out 24-7, so you have to wonder what sort of chemicals must be in them to keep them from going bad!

Alot of it is powdered (like the soups, some pastas and cake) and you just add water, and they taste pretty gross! Trust me, they DO NOT look like they do in the tv comercials! lol

Bottom line, it works, but after two weeks I wanted to vomit at the thought of eating one of those meals!

Hi Everyone!!

I guess im a little late but would love to join! I too LOVE halloween and it also happens to be one of my best friends birthdays, so we always get all dressed up and have a huge party! This year my girl friends want to go out as Moulin Rouge (The characters from the song, not the movie lol) Which is a little scandalous for my tastes but im up for anything!

But of course, they are all teeny tiny and im well...not. So I would love to lose at least 10 lbs so that Im not the sore thumb of the group!

Halloween goal: 155

Good Luck Everyone!!

There are a couple of variations of this one already up here. But I was at the bar once and a girl came up to my friend and made a fat comment, my friend replied with:

"I may be fat, but you're ugly and you can't run that **** off"

I nearly peed myself laughing, the girl had absolutely nothing to say after that!

I had/have the same problem! I started spinning 3 times a week at the gym and I just couldnt put in 100% effort because I was concentrating too much on how to position my butt so it didnt hurt so much! ha ha

But I have since bought one of those gel padded seats and LOVE it! It feels soo much better and I can finally put in 100% effort when I spin because im not concentrating on the pain anymore!

I bought it at Sport Check for $15, best workout investment ever!

I have a similar problem! Im 5'5 and my boyfriend is 6' and although he is a good 30lbs heavier than me (he is very muscular) we recently found out (as he wanted a pair of tight jeans for an 80's party we were attending) that he can fit into my jeans...snugly...but his butt looked better in them than mine did!

Weight Loss Is it possible to lose 20lbs by September 1st, 2009? Jun 16 2009

Hi There!

Im in the same boat! Im also 5'5 and 160lbs and am looking to lose about 20lbs for a trip to Vegas in November!

I work at a desk all day too and get very little exercise during the day so I too was wondering what kinds of things could help me to lose 20lbs!

Calorie count suggests that a person my size that is sedentary eat roughly 1400-1600 calories a day to lose weight, because it says I burn about 1900 just by living. So I have been trying that, I havent seen any results yet but it has only been about 2 weeks since I started really watching what im eating!

Keep me posted on your progress!

I agree with the above post, After!

My personal trainer told me the same thing, that the glycogen stores are depleted after lifting and once you do cardio it will then burn the fat!

Ha ha I can totally relate to all of these!

1) Chub rub!

2) T-shirt arms being too tight and making your arms look like they are sqeezed in there!

3) Pulling up the pants when I sit down, so as to avoid muffin top!

4) Having to buy pants that fit my waist and not my legs! (tight in the waist, loose in the legs!)

Weight Loss Alcohol? Apr 28 2009

I had the same problem! I hate liquor with pop, I have never liked the way it tastes and normally will have it with juice to mix. However, My personal trainer hated it because juice has a lot of sugar! So he suggested vodka with water and crystal light, which is 0 calories and it tastes great! (And comes in many flavors!) So I would give that a try!

Weight Loss Nutrisystem? HELP PLEASE! Mar 24 2009

Thanks for all the advice!

Im not using NS for a long term fix, I want to do it for a month or two to just start my weight loss (since summer is fast approaching!) and then switching to eating healthy on my own, I figure NS will teach me about proper portion size (while getting my body used to it) and what types of food I should be eating at every meal. This way when I stop I wont go back to my old habits (hopefully) and i'll add in the gym a couple times a week and hopefully be able to maintain the weight loss instead of gaining it all back!

Thanks so much for all the replies!

Weight Loss Nutrisystem? HELP PLEASE! Mar 23 2009
17:06 (UTC)
10

Hello All, And thanks for all the replies!!

The reason I want to try nutrisystem is because I have tried everything else! I cant seem to stick to a diet on my own, and im not the best cook in the world so my options are limited as to the healthy foods I can make!

I have also tried a personal trainer, who worked me to the bone for 4 months but still not even one pound lost! (or inches!!)

So this is kinda a last resort type option, Im hoping its something to do with my eating and not a bigger problem (I have been tested for thyroid disorders etc)

So that you for all the responses...hopefully I have some luck with this!!

Weight Loss Fish oil, eh? Feb 05 2009
19:22 (UTC)
12

I just started taking fish oil about a week and a half ago as per my naturopaths request and have noticed an increase in my weight loss. So far I have lost 1.5 lbs in about 8 days (I have been at a plateau for a while now) So it feels great to finally be losing again. But I am combining that with diet and exercise (which I have been doing this whole time)...so Im not sure if I would still have lost if I wasnt eating right and exercising, But it has definitely helped!!

Health & Support Hypothyroidism?!? Jan 19 2009

Thanks for the replies!

I went and had blood tests done on friday and am just waiting for the results. I have alot of the symptoms typical for hypothyroid like unexplained weight gain, fatigue, sleeplessness, depression, cold intolerance and SUPER dry skin on my face lately...to the point where every hour or less I have to apply cream or it looks like I am peeling from a sun burn...I hate it!

If the tests do come back negative tho, is there something else that could be doing all these things to me?

Thanks for all the replies, you have all been really helpful!

A typical day for me looks like this:

Breakfast:

1 piece of whole grain bread with either peanut butter or margarine
1 Egg - Scrambled
1 Glass of skim milk

Snack

Apple + Almonds

Lunch

Salad (with light/low fat dressing)
Tuna or Chicken

Snack

If im working out after work I will have a protein shake here if not just some fruit

Dinner

Varies but either a stir fry, wrap, or meat potato and veggies

I have a tea in the morning with sweetener and drink water all day. I dont think there is a problem with my eating, but feel free to pick it apart and tell me what to fix if there is!

Thank you for your reply, that kinda makes sense.

One thing im worried about tho is the opposite, if I eat 1200 cals and burn 500 at the gym, will I not put myself into starvation mode?

As for the trainer, I do work very hard with him, harder than I would on my own! He pushes hard and I barely have enough breath to make conversation in between sets let alone during them! lol but I know what you mean, there are some girls in there that are paying for a friend basically!

Thanks for the replies!

I do take my measurements regularily because that was the first thing I thought of when I wasnt seeing any results on the scale, and still nothing has budged there. Maybe a quarter of an inch or so since ive started, but its not consistent.

My clothes feel the same as they always have, not any bigger, so this is why I am so frustrated!

I dont measure my food, but I write down everything I eat (and the approximate portion) and then report back to my naturopath who then tells me if its too much or too litte etc. So even if I was underestimating my cals it wouldnt be by much. As for overestimating my calories, I am only going by what my trainer tells me and some tools on this site (which I realise arent all that accurate) so I usually try to low-ball how many cals I burn in a workout. And my body fat percentage has dropped maybe 1% but that could be due to how hydrated I was at the time it was taken.

I have been tested for hypotyroidism as well and that came back negative, so I just dont know what else it could be?

"I watched too much biggest loser, and I thought in a bit over a week I could lose like 2 or 3 kilos, but I guess I need to just stick to it! It is a big shock to my body, and I don't know I need to stop stressin!"

Also on the biggest loser they work out a crazy amount...like 5 hours a day I heard! So dont compare yourself to them, cuz thats just insane!

I agree with everyone else, stop stressing about the weight, maybe your gaining muscle and losing inches? you should try to take measurements and maybe you will see more progress there. Also, Stressing yourself out only makes it harder on your body to lose the weight!

Keep up the good work!

Weight Loss Question, I've read that in losing weight - You lose from the last place you gained first... Dec 15 2008

I have lost mainly from my arms and legs and my mid section has taken the most time to shrink. Its annoying because I have nice toned legs that could fit into jeans 2 sizes smaller than my waist, so I can either have jeans that fit my legs but give me a muffin top, or that fit my waist and are baggy on my legs!

Down about 1lb this week! And who knows if that is accurate because my body fluctuates so much each day! But it wasnt a gain so Im happy about that. Im just hoping that this process speeds up a little bit since I have been calorie counting and working out 5x a week for about a month and a half now! starting to get a little frustrated....

How did everyone else do!?

I wish I had an answer for you as well, as I am going through the same thing! I work out about 5x a week, a mix between cardio and weight training, and watch what I eat (with the occasional slip up on weekends :S) and still havent lost a pound! All im doing is gaining and im not sure what im doing wrong!

It could be because your body is getting used to the exercise you are doing. I find that if I do the same thing for a couple of months at the gym my body will get used to it and not have to work as hard as it used to. My trainer told me to switch up my routine once I feel like it isnt as difficult anymore and now im sweating and working hard all the time, and when im not, I know im not working as hard and need to change it up!
