These are a few of my favorites:
Buckcherry: Next to You Bush: Machine Head Christina Aguilara: Fighter (dedicated to my mother) Elvis: A Little Less Conversation Eminem: Sing For The Moment or Lose Yourself (for pushing myself) Fall Out Boy: Dance, Dance Kanye West: Stronger or Jesus Walks With Me Madonna: Four Minutes Muse: Time is Running Out Rihanna: Shut Up and Drive Smashing Pumpkins: Rat in a Cage or Zero (I find the anger helps)
I know, pretty ecclectic musical choices, but whatever works right? I find that as I get older, and the weight becomes harder to come off, the angrier songs of my youth (i.e. Smashing Pumpkins, or even Alanis Morrisette "You Oughta Know") seem to work the best. But sometimes you get bored with being angry all the time, so the peppier, upbeat songs work too. I'm not an angry person by the way, actually, I'm a pretty upbeat person myself.

#42. Avoid the scale like the PLAGUE!! I weigh myself once every 2-3 weeks, that way, I see a few more pounds lost, and it makes me happier, so it motivates me more. I know that as long as I am making healthy choices, I shouldn't need to weigh myself daily. |

Hello all- I am originally from Corpus Christi, now living in Rockport (about 30 min. northeast, up highway 35). It's a small town, with not much in the way of fitness clubs, so I mainly bike ride around my neighborhood, or walk, and jog on my treadmill. My last weigh in was at 166, about two weeks ago (I avoid the scale like the PLAGUE, it helps motivate me.). My goal is 125-130, which is what I was until about 3 years ago. My pregnancy with my third child was a little difficult, and I gained more weight than I should have, due to a bad hip, I couldn't walk very well. But, I'm better now, and aching to fit back into all my pre-pregnancy clothes that are still hanging in my closet. Hope everyone is doing well, and enjoy a healthy Memorial Day holiday!!! |

| Weight Loss | 3 day diet | May 14 2008 05:18 (UTC) |

If your talking about the 3 day diet that's suppossedly for heart patients, where you eat a cup of tuna for lunch with like 4 crackers, and nothing to drink but water, coffee or tea, no sugar, me and my husband both tried it. We dared each other that we wouldn't be able to stick to it. He lost about 14 lbs, but gained it all back over the weekend. I lost about 4 lbs. And gained it back. Immediately. There is no quick fix to loosing weight. No 3 day diet, or 10 day Master Cleanse, is going to help you. You might lose the weight, but you won't keep it off. And the yo-yo dieting is worse for you than starving yourself for 3 days. In order to lose weight, and keep it off, you have to change your complete lifestyle. It's not as easy as a 3 day diet. Sorry. |

| Weight Loss | My problem is snacking.... | May 14 2008 05:01 (UTC) |

You know, I haven't tried the peanut butter bars yet, but I do like the chocolate South Beach bars...I have a bad sweet tooth (actually two or three sweet teath is probably more accurate), and these are DELICIOUS. The Special K cereal bars are pretty decent too. And no, tea isn't really bad for dieting, unless you load it with tons of sugar (which of course I do). Most teas are chock full of antioxidants, and green tea has the added bonus of egcg (is that right? or is it ecgc? i can never remember), which is a natural metabolism booster. I've never really been big on green tea though, to me it has a slightly bitter after taste. |

I know what you mean about the caffeine, those headaches are MURDER!! I've been limiting myself to one Cherry Coke Zero a day...what a heaven send!! I've been thinking about sending the person who invented Coke Zero a thank you card. Another trick I've found is not denying myself the snacks, but instead limiting myself to a normal portion, or even a half-portion. (I have two school aged children in the house, so of course I have the snack bags of chips in the house, graham crackers, and stuff like that.) And since I also have a two year old, I share my snacks with him, that way I'm not giving him too much junk, and I'm not getting too much either. Another trick: I keep all snacks in the kitchen. I count out my portion, and then I go somewhere else to eat it, whether it's the living room, or outside, and I find something to keep my hands busy (like posting on forums...). I leave the box or the bag in the kitchen, that way, I'm not tempted to sneak more. And I keep busy, for the same reason. Anyway, thank you for all your suggestions, anybody got anymore? |

The reason I say besides veggies is just because they are a given. Of course i snack on veggies, and fruits, and pecans. I guess you just have to be a girl to understand food cravings, and how they hit you at different times. for example, a woman will generally crave salty snacks right before her period (which adds to the whole water weight gain issue), i know i do. no offense to the men out there of course. i agree with the 100 calorie snack packs though, but just because they all taste the same, like cardboard. Thanks for the idea about the spray butter, i'll have to find that cause i love salty popcorn. |

| Weight Loss | Food Facts That Restaurants Hide From You | May 07 2008 23:03 (UTC) |

I agree with you, santonacci. When people sue fast food restaurants for making them fat, well, there is just something wrong with not only that person, but a legal system that would allow something so ridiculous like that actually get to a judge. I stopped letting my kids eat at fast food restaurants after a saw a video on YouTube from the guy who made that movie, "SuperSize Me." It showed how there was so much preservatives in McDonalds fries and burgers, that it didn't break down the way normal food does. Imagine how hard it must be for your body to break down that food. And people wonder why we have all these new diseases like autism, diabetes, cancer, alzhiemers, and heart disease. Just look at what we put into our bodies. Growth hormones in the chicken, and antibiotics in the beef and milk. Did they do that stuff in the early 1900's? 1800's? Did people get sick like they do now? True the population put a lot less demand on food production, but it's still a good argument for eating organic. As for eating out, I come from a small town with one Chilies, and a few fast food restaurants. The rest of the choices are family owned restaurants that cook their food fresh, instead of mass production, flash freezing, and shipping to your local Big Restaurant Chain. When we do eat out, we pick a family owned restaurant, eat half of what we order, and take home the rest. And try not to raid the fridge at midnight. ;) |
