Diet pop. I bought a case of the mandarin orange flavored diet Sierra Mist a couple weeks ago after MONTHS of not spending money on beverages and I'm officially back on the diet pop bandwagon...happily! :) |

| Foods | Are you feeding your kids the worst breakfast possible? | Oct 23 2008 21:40 (UTC) |

Original Post by gi-jane: I completely agree. Growing up, my mom NEVER made me breakfast while I was school-aged because she didn't want breakfast. My sr. year, I would leave the house with no breakfast and MAYBE go to the gas station to get a 32 oz. Mountain Dew and then go to my first class which was weight lifting. Ah, if only I'd known back then what I know now. |

If you have a scale, weigh it first then weigh the refuse and subtract that weight. If you don't have a scale (like me) you can get a better estimate by slicing or dicing it and measuring it by cup. |

Maguro (sp?) rolls! They are my favorite and happen to be the most healthy of all rolls (imo) because of a very high protein content and no creamy ingredients. I get them with brown rice, but you can get them without rice at all (or take it off) for a lower calorie/carb count. Or sashimi of any kind :D |

I usually call it my bajingo. Or nether regions (Chris1208, your definition makes me laugh and like calling it that even more lmao!). |

lol, if this site had that feature it sure as heck wouldn't be free anymore! The closest feature this site has to that is your daily analysis. It will give you a grade from F- to A+ based on what foods you log. |

Not everyone considers the same foods to be "lunch" or "dinner" per say. I'd check under "main course" or search "lunch-y" type foods like sandwiches or something. |

Yeah I'd pay good money for 40 cal per 1/2 cup refried beans! |

It's a cultured dairy product, sometimes marketed as "liquid yogurt". Most people (I know) drink it as a beverage. I hated it immediately upon trying it so I wouldn't know how filling it is, lol but from an article I read in Runner's World, it's ok for people who are lactose intolerant :) |

| Foods | Coffee | Oct 20 2008 22:57 (UTC) |

In my opinion, yeah that's ok. I am a coffee addict. I don't *usually* use coffee to suppress my appetite, but occasionally I do. I always add lowfat milk to my coffee anyway, so I'm getting a little nutrition as well no matter what (fat and protein). |

| Foods | Frozen Grape Ideas? | Oct 16 2008 21:41 (UTC) |

A fruit salad? I think that halved, frozen grapes, grapefruit sections and maybe a diced peach or nectarine sounds tasty :) The frozen grapes within the non-frozen fruit would also be pretty texturally appetizing I would think. |

| Foods | Coffee! | Oct 16 2008 21:40 (UTC) |

I'm literally a junkie when it comes to coffee (I drink AT LEAST 4 shots of espresso a day), so I guess I'm one of those people who are so addicted, they don't care about how healthy it is or isn't! I try to make it as healthy as possible though (lots of lowfat or skim milk for some protein and stuff). Kinda scares me when I get withdrawal symptoms when I don't have it though... |
|||
| Foods | More protein | Oct 16 2008 21:30 (UTC) |

Nonfat yogurt is my new favorite way to get protein without fat! Also, lowfat or skim milk in EVERYTHING. I've been thinking about using protein poweder and the honey flavored powder OP mentioned sounds tasty, what brand is this, kyashiis? |

| The Lounge | why do you like him/her? | Oct 15 2008 07:18 (UTC) |

I love him because he taught me how to rock climb for my birthday, because he spent all day replacing the starter in my car, because he supports me in my unusual choice of work, because he likes to dress up as much as I do...and of course he's a hottie lmao |

| Health & Support | ED and boyfriend? | Oct 15 2008 01:39 (UTC) |

In your situation (saying that you might be in an ED clinic soon) I'd lay it out on the table. I understand about being triggered by rejection, but if he rejects you simply for being honest to him, he's not a positive person to have around you. |

| Health & Support | Ok so, about drinking and weight loss | Oct 15 2008 01:35 (UTC) |

I understand about being young and it being part of your life (in an enjoying-it-moderately kinda way ;))! I don't think that the amounts you stated (only being 200 cals over your limit or a couple drinks during the week) will cause you to gain MUCH, if any (especially since your weight seems ideal or even a little thin for your height). Especially if they're within your cal limit anyway. Personally, having a drink or two is usually in conjunction with dancing the whole night, so that's how i justify the calories :D Then again, that's just my two cents :) |

| Foods | Portion Control Quiz *fun* | Oct 15 2008 01:17 (UTC) |

I missed two. Both were fresh produce questions, one was about a serving of baby carrots (I chose 1/2 tennis ball) and the other about a serving of grapes (also chose 1/2 tennis ball). I don't like baby carrots that much and limit grapes because of sugar, so I understand why I got those questions wrong lol And the bonus round sucked! OP was right about not knowing how many ounces the foods were so it was hard to determine how big the serving was. But it was a fun game! |

| Recipes | your fav smoothies | Oct 14 2008 22:32 (UTC) |

I don't have a specific recipe, but in general my philosophy is "the more berries, the better"! I usually do 1/2 a bag of frozen berries, 2 containers of yogurt, splash of milk and if needed, a splash of sparkling flavored water (this makes two smoothies). |

Put in a bowl. Eat :) less than 105 calories |

| Foods | Brown Rice | Oct 14 2008 21:16 (UTC) |

I LOVE brown rice! I also agree it's a textural difference, once you switch and "get used to it" white rice will taste like tasteless mush (at least this is my finding lol)!. I absolutely adore brown rice sushi :) |

**How I did this week, goals for next week: I did awesome this week! Especially with the fitness end of it all. It was the first time in MY LIFE that I've been able to run 2 miles straight through lol. Goals for the coming week are to work on doing more, keep logging miles (I have a goal to run 100 miles in October) and keep life running smoothly :D |

I also don't follow the 40/30/30 plan either and I agree with vwiki01 about fat free yogurt. Egg whites are also a great source of protein w/little fat as well as skim milk! |

That sounds yummy! And I like the fact that those Morningstar things are called "veggie wings" :D Here's a nifty mini-meal I'm eating right now:
Cook pasta according to directions or taste. Add broccoli in water with pasta during last 2 mins of cooking time. Drain and place in bowl. Top with cheese and crunchy peas! about 300 cals :) |

Original Post by lyndieloop: :( First off, I'm quite short (5'3''), secondly I'm an athlete so I'm always "training" for something, thirdly! no man will EVER be the reason for losing weight (or keeping it off)! Pumpkin- another congrats on the race! Ah, it gets me pumped to run mine hearing how well you did! Can't wait til I can post about my race time :D Karey- I'm both loving and hating the rebuilding of my wardrobe lol! It sucks that I have so many clothes I used to LOVE that look ridic on me now b/c they're too big, but again...shopping is fun! |

TABASCO! Or anything spicy; salsa, Frank's Red Hot, Louisiana Hot Sauce... Soy sauce on certain things. Other than those few things, I am pretty anti-condiment lol. |
