All I have to say is dial up. Sometimes the tranquility of rural life sucks. |

Absolutely well done on seeing the problem. I strongly encourage you to talk to your doctor and find some outside assistance. Your bf can be a support but you might/probably need more than he can give. You said your mom is an alcoholic so your whole life has been spent seeing this an answer. You sound like you have motivation and a desire for your life to be different, good luck. |

Thanks everyone. Kashikat - I have even less confidence in the gym now she didn't do any of that. Spirochete - the treadmill made me dizzy at 2mph I nearly fell off! (I did get better) Bootser - I agree formal education makes me feel better. Thanks again. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | I'm a Stay At Home Mom...How do I stay sane? | Jun 06 2008 17:02 (UTC) |

Oh, I so understand. I spend time thinking, "But I wanted to be home so why are there days when it drives me crazy?" In the words of my therapist (yes it came to needing therapy - not the kids fault!) you need to acknowledge that you need something more in your life - it might be something as simple as a cooking class or a book group. Not another play group to talk with other moms but an actual adult setting so you can remember that although being mom is your most important role in life it is not the only thing to define you. Good luck, try to have some fun every day both with and without the kids. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Slings vs. Carriers for Newborns, Your thoughts/experiences please | Jun 06 2008 16:53 (UTC) |

I have to vote for the sling. It was a lifesaver with my son. I never had to put him down. We like to say that he lived in it for the first year of his life. There are different ways to adjust the sling depending on the amount of support you require (age of child). I recommend having an experienced sling wearer show you the ropes. Mine had a long life as I used it when my kids were my toddlers as well. My sling came from a mail order company called 'babyluv'. Good luck. |

With my first all the weight (I'm talking 60lbs) came off quickly ( alot of it was water retention anyway). I was walking with baby almost every day. It did take time for my body to change shape ( I was 26) I mean my hips were/are wider than pre- baby. With baby 2 (born 23 mos later) again the weight came off (didn't gain nearly so much) but the shape and contours of my body were very different (highly recommend toning when your body has healed). Of course in the 5 years since my 2nd I gained a bunch of weight but that's a different story. Kudoos on the activity so soon after baby. |

Thanks everyone! About the weights are those velcro wrist weights any help at all - I could easily add those to our daily outings. |

The eating habits of my children have been a great motivator for me. They think you should eat every time you are in the car (don't know why lol). Fortunately for me they love veggies, fruit, yogurt, chicken and fish. However I have given them a love of McAnything. That is my current biggest parenting regret. They are young (5&7) so hopefully we can overcome this - probably harder for me at 33! |

Thanks for the feedback. As for activity I consider myself to be in the light range. Outside walking with the kids and doing houswork. I Free weights scare me and the pec machine/ cable row hurt ( I know that means something was wrong)! I like swimming. I know it is an excuse but I have recently experienced a major upheaval in my life and geetting back on track at the gym lost priority. I am worried that now that things are settled and I am out of the habit I won't go back - of course I am paying for it...any motivation ideas? |

Hi. I am brand new (both to CCC and chats). I am also a home schooling mom. Do you find having the kids at home has been a help or a drawback in snacking? |
