i didn't generalize the entire population with the same stats.  this was subjective not objective.

"anyone who is 5'2 and under shouldn't weight any more than 110 anyway"

Lessee. Generally inclusive term. Qualification. Requirement.

Seems like a generalization to me, reads like a mad-lib.

If your reading comprehension can't hold water with your own writing, it's time to step away from the keyboard.

"smoked salmon egg white and brocolli scramble"

I don't like fish, but this sounds scrummy XD.

But yeah, doesn't seem like enough food. Not seeing a lot of portion size specification though, but it's all so voluminous that I think large portions would be difficult (And sooo un-feminine, c'mon. ... *rolls eyes*)

Plus, there's that whole veracity thing. Magazines aren't under oath ;)

"steak and chips" - My kind'a meal! Better not be fish steak. Blech. Fish.

Foods Eating Out... The Salad Trap Jan 19 2009

I usually just get a side salad; my friends can deal with me standing out, or they can not invite me next time ;) (I'll either eat my own meal before or after to keep sanity). To be fair though, I'm not really comfy eating things I haven't cooked myself. Not that I'm a good cook, I just like to know what's going on with my food XD

On another count though, an occasional treat isn't going to hurt you, and the best you can do is try to find out where you're going before-hand so you can have the full facts at your fingertips. If you can't find out, then do what you can, and know that you still made your best effort :)

Foods Egg whites Dec 14 2008

Let us not forget meringue, which I find absolutely delicious and incredibly voluminous. ;)

I don't know of any negative effects of egg whites that are inherent. Some people may not deal well with them, but that's a different story XD

Just so long as they aren't all you eat, of course ;) haha.

Weight Loss What might my size be at 5'2" and 110 pounds? Dec 13 2008

I'm 5'4", but a 110 lb pear XD so my sizes probably equate (or I may even be larger, because I don't have a lot of muscle, I'm working on that!) to a better-proportioned 5'2" person :)

I looked up a few sizing charts, and from those I'm usually from a 2 to a 6. Size will depend a heckuvalot on the store you shop in however, so it's not a great (I mean, it's not even a very good) way to check progress, so don't expect that you'll be the same as everyone or anyone else XD, they may shop somewhere else, or have a different build, or a different percentage of bodyfat. Waay too many factors ;)

Which bugs my boyfriend XD Poor thing.

Amberwolg; I weigh naked in the morning after using the bathroom (not fun in the winter! Goosebumps ahoy!)

A set of my clothes can put on 2-3 lbs instantly, depending on if I'm wearing a hoodie or a heavy pair of jeans/camos.

Light summer clothes (cloth shorts, tanktop) are probably fine to weigh in, but any more than that, strip it. (I usually leave my undies on, especially when it's cold!)

As to pills; none that are worth it. Diuretics and laxatives can screw up your electrolytes, and can be habit forming (very, very bad thing). 'Thermogenics' and caffeine supplements screw with your heart. A heart murmur for 3 lbs of water isn't worth it.

In other news; my birthday was yesterday! Officially an 18 year old :)

I am back up to 119 today, but considering we had Chinese for lunch I'm hoping it was water weight! My mum baked me a scrummy chocolatey-chocolate cake ^^ I stopped myself at a reasonable sized slice, and it was delish.

I'm getting a new system for my birthday, although it hasn't arrived yet. It's gonna be fun ^^ usually my 'new' hardware is everyone's old stuff, I get hand-me-downs from my brothers. Which is fine, I don't do anything that needs really highgrade stuff; my brothers are gamers, and gaming software is being made to higher grades than many computers can keep up with!

So yup. Gonna be fun :).

Anyhoo. Rambling ceased. Enjoy your day :D

Weighed in at 118 today! That's a pound down from starting XD (I've been 119 all week, so s'about time! Ah... oops. Did I get impatient... again?)

Now for today, Saturday (neither much of a problem), Sunday carry-in lunch (bit more of a problem, a lot of people in our congregations are really good cooks!), and Monday... birthday time XD Oh dear...

Gluten or other such allergies can cause bloating without specific discomfort or 'hives', or other reactions. Try eliminated glutenous foods for awhile and see if it helps? Google for foods that contain gluten. Many have gluten-free substitutes.

It could be something completely different, but it's a start!

"Without much muscle mass" IE, elevated BF%.

You can weigh 120 and have 17% bodyfat, therefore looking trim and athletic, or weigh 120 and have 27% bodyfat, which means the more of your bodyweight is fat, and therefor not very trim or athletic.

Skinny fat just means they're normal weight but without much muscle mass. I'm the same; in clothes I can look normal, but I know how I really look, because I see me naked!

Never had trouble finding a guy, although granted I don't go through them like broccoli florets. I've been dating my current prospective for 9 months, he still tells me I'm gorgeous, even when I don't prompt him. He's almost got me thinking it's the truth XD.

Thankfully I haven't noticed in myself any of the effects of artificial sweeteners touted by scaremongerers on other sites I visit. Switching to diet is what I did when I first started losing weight, it hasn't slowed me down so far. I know I overeat when I'm being too lax, and I know that's what makes me gain XD.

I'm allergic to aspertain, or else I'd be all over diet soda. I have my AZ green tea, thats ALL I drink. I know it has caffeine in it, but not much I don't think. I'm allergic to caffeine too. It makes me woozy. Friends actually bring me 2 green teas when they know I'm going to a party with them because I will drink 2 and be tipsy, almost drunk-like. It's quite funny. Aspertain makes me fall asleep and make me dizzy. NOT fun. I hate being such an allergy Frown. When I stopped drinking soda, I was drinking just water, trying to be healthy. My god I thought I was going to kill someone. Then I decided to go back to AZ green tea (I stopped drinking it when I was drinking Pepsi religiously). Now life is better, I'm drinking about 64oz I'd say, so thats good... right?

Aw, don't get me wrong ^^ I know some people have bad reactions to it, I was saying more the cancer-blindness-etc effects that people say it will cause in humans but strangely enough it hasn't been shown to... XD.

My boyfriend really likes that AZ stuff. Which is rather odd, but I suppose that means it must be good; that kid is the kinda guy they market MD Game Fuel to.

So is it just aspartame you're allergic to, or splenda (sucralose) as well?

As for the good-to-oneself discussion; Haha, the best thing I've been doing for myself is staying on aspirin for the past couple of days. Probably won't need it anymore, just the first couple of days are quite painful. But otherwise; I've tidied my room some, and have been really good at avoiding some urges (like when I open the freezer for my frozen vegetables and there sits two pints of ice cream, two boxes of popsicles and three M&M ice cream cookies.). If I feel not-up-to-snuff already, no need to make myself feel bad with empty calories I didn't really need or even want (wanting something without wanting it, it's odd).

Johgar; well done on being down another 3lb, goodness, we've barely had the chance to get started!

Jessicakait; ^^ I started CC at 123! (I'm technically down from 135, but I maintained at 125 for awhile before starting to lose again). Welcome to the group!

Original Post by amylsmith:

A low intake of fats and oils (less than 20 percent of calories) increases the risk of inadequate intakes of vitamin E and of essential fatty acids and may contribute to unfavorable changes in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

  • Consume less than 10 percent of calories from saturated fatty acids and less than 300 mg/day of cholesterol, and keep trans fatty acid consumption as low as possible.
  • Keep total fat intake between 20 to 35 percent of calories, with most fats coming from sources of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, such as fish, nuts, and vegetable oils.
  • When selecting and preparing meat, poultry, dry beans, and milk or milk products, make choices that are lean, low-fat, or fat-free.
  • Limit intake of fats and oils high in saturated and/or trans fatty acids, and choose products low in such fats and oils.
  • I just had a question about fats and I was refered to a site that provided me this information.

Whew you're a goldmine! Well done ^^. It makes me so happy how helpful and informative people are here, and you explained everything so well!

Dry hair, skin... hard time absorbing vitamins as I understand it. Basically, it's just good to get enough of the right kinds of fat.

I think the recommendation is 20-30% from fat?

Adge; Hmm, sounds tasty ^^, I wonder if it's in stock around here... thanks for the tip!

Is decaffeinated tea (think there is anyway) not an option then, or are trace amounts a problem as well? I can't remember how much actually ends up in the tea after it's decaffeinated...

But I've been 135 at 5'3.5" and felt so happy and content with life, it's when I started dating my current boyfriend, started earning my own money, hung out with more friends. I don't really hang out with them anymore because my brother got paintball guns and they all adore him XD plus one got a new girlfriend, and you know how that is.

I still drink diet regularly. Whenever I 'quit', I still crave it. No matter how long it's been :(

Well anyway, cross out regularly, put obsessively. Thankfully I haven't noticed in myself any of the effects of artificial sweeteners touted by scaremongerers on other sites I visit. I'm really happy that others who found it a negative influence have been able to give it up  ^^ it just goes to show, you can do anything you really want to! I guess I've just never wanted to... Aw, I'm hopeless XD.

umm, I was taught that kcal=calorie.

    • The small calorie, gram calorie, or calorie (symbol: cal) is the amount of heat (energy) required to raise the temperature of one gram of water by 1 °C.
    • The large calorie, kilogram calorie, kilocalorie (symbol: kcal), or Calorie (capital C) is the amount of heat (energy) needed to increase the temperature of one kg of water by 1 °C, exactly 1000 small calories, or about 4.184 kJ.

    From WikiPedia.

XD Thank goodness there aren't any cookies in the house right now, I seem to be starved! I think it's actually a sign that I should be sleeping now though, cause it's not 'hunger' hunger, y'know?

    kcal = kilo-calorie

    k= kilo = 1000

kcal is short for kilo-calorie or 1000 calories.

    1.2 kcal = 1200 calorie

    1.2 Calories also = 1200 calories.

What a difference a capital can make. But the shorthand lowercase is good enough for most people to deal with.

    thanks.

700 :) Still a safe range, I think the ideal is anywhere between 500-1000.
