Good afternoon ladies, well I did it, I gave it two weeks (and suprised myself by my willpower not to check for so long) today I weighed in, not good. I am now the not so happy owner of an extra 10lbs from my lowest weight. That's 135lbs looking back at me, and the batteries are new. Measurements are all up too so I dont know if I can shrug it off as waterweight either. I'm hoping and praying that its as high as I go and my body will just begin to accept the extra food Im giving it but who knows, aiming for 5lb loss by Christmas though, anyone with me?

Hi ladies just quick check in from an internet cafe. I have moved over to London and am kind of settling in. Ive been here just over one week and have not weighed myself once. I am terrified to in fact, as the first day here I weighed in 137lbs, up a drastic amount. Anyway I figured that I have to be good to my body and get myself a break, not logging at all, so I have been eating at just below maintenance (I think) and although I am more active I defintiely have noticed it in my thighs which is odd as usually It goes straight to my belly. Anyway I have taken a huge step by promising not to weight myself for 2 weeks because I know seeing a huge intial gain (prob 140s again) will make me restrict further and its not the best for me. Im still squeezing into my clothes, def tighter though, but thats my update for now, hope everyone is doing well, keep your fingers crossed for me finding work here and not gaining much more. Good luck all.

Hi ladies, sorry I havent been on in ages, my laptop is broken, never to be fixed :( Im on the search for a new one but lack of funds prevents any success really. My weight has just gone crazy, Ive gained about 5-7lbs and they truly are not going anywhere for the last month or so, I can get as up to 135lbs and go to 130lbs but the days of seeing 126lbs on the scales seems way too long ago. I'm thinking of upping my calories to maintenance which really scares me but Im moving to London Saturday and could do with the extra energy quite frankly, I cant really afford to gain much more though because my clothes are already really tight so Im totally confused and frustrated about what to do. Anyway could be worse. Hope you are all keeping the chins up and I will try to as well.

Ideally you're looking for a 700 cal deficit per day, so take that as 4900 deficit per week, divide up that deficit as you like maybe two days of the week try to shoot for 1000 calorie deficit (eat 1200, work out a little extra). That means you've 5 days to burn up to 2900 more calories than you consume, fit it into whatever  works for your lifestyle. For example if you eat a big family dinner on Sundays, have that as your mainenance day. This ought to see you losing 1.5 lbs per week and will set you up nicely for maintaining this for life.

Thanks, I figure its not lactose intolerance seeming before all this i coped fine with milk. i realise that it really does sound like Im pregnant indeed but thats not it and Im not on BC either. Its a bit of a mystery for sure. A lot of the time when Im retaining water due to alcohol I seem to retain it in my breasts as well, very odd.

Hi ladies, just to chime in (although Im not having much success these days), a typical day for me looks like...

B/F: 30g rolled oats + 15g oat bran, water & splenda (hoping to wean off it)

L: 50g smoked salmon, 50g jumbo prawns cooked, 2 wholewheat ryvita,1tsp hummus

D: Omelette = 3 egg whites, tbs salsa, 80g broccoli, 1/2 small onion, 50g smoked salmon/turkey/lean ham/prawns.

S: Yogurt / small cup Oat bran / frozen pineapple chunk/ prawns dipped in hummus/ chocolate brazil nuts when I need a treat

I'm making a big effort to get protein here, if I ate intuitively it'd prob be all carbs..

Funny, I came across this topic right now, I am feeling generally down on my body image these days, I get so frustrated at my wardrobe and my lack of cool clothes, and Im sometimes afraid to try stuff on in the morning because I dont wanna feel even worse when they dont look well, and Im wondering if the saturation of London fashion week in the media at the moment is penetrating my self image. Mostly I find model perfection just unattainable, style blogs influence me more, because they are real people and not airbrushed, but very stylish and invariably tiny slim agghhh - frustration!! Also tall one here 5'10 and didnt fnd that too insensitive, each to their own.

I guess its similar to saying Canadians are American because its considered Northern America, its just simply untrue, that is why it is wrong.

Am I the only English person who gets really irritated by the way Americans say "British" all the time?!

I am, technically, British. I am also, technically, European. But I prefer to refer to myself as "English". Because I am from England.

Saying "British" would imply that you don't know whether the person is from England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Why is that irritating? I would understand if you told someone already that you're English and they still referred to you as British, but if they don't know then???

Personally, the reason I'm asking questions about British people is because I'm interested in them as a whole, not only Irish, Scottish, English, etc. I don't discriminate, lol Laughing

Some more Irish to throw into the mix

Pants = Trousers, in Britain its undies

Sh*te (pronouced Shy-it) =**** Tongue out

Gobsh*te/ Ejeet/ Langer= idiot

Boot = Trunk, of a car say

Jacks = Toilet

Craic = good fun

Going for a few = going out for a few drinks

hangin' = hungover

off on my holidays or on my Jollys (British) = on vacation

Hi ladies, it seems like a good week on the thread overall, congrats. I have to add my voice to Danielle looking like shes 155lbs of lean muscle mass, not an inch to pinch IMO! I would give my 128lb of wobblyness for your 155lbs looking like that any day. SO yeah.. 128lbs this morning, hurray back to my comfort zone. that was a freaky couple of weeks. My major change this week, was knocking back about 2-3 litres of water a day which in US terms is about 70oz I guess. So I was peeing a lot and finally got rid of the water weight my ass has been dragging around. Its been nice weather here too so I've gotten a few long walks in and feeling good about that too. I'll get back to my 4 mile run a day soon I hope.. even if it seems a long way off. In other news Im researching my move to London and going over Oct 1 to try find an apartment, wouldnt mind losing another lb or 2 before that stress occurs!!

Anyway, long post.. Welcome to the new girls, I'm sure you guys will find this thread a big help, its good to be accountable weekly and seek solace and common sense from time to time on this madness that is weight loss/maintenance.

Yes this happens to me as well, it feels sometimes like when my breasts were still growing (from what I can remember lol). Then other times its like someone has physically beat me up and it hurts to breathe deeply around my diaphragm. It probably has something to do with extra fluid and retention but I would also be very interested to find out what is going on really.

Oh ladies, ladies, ladies... Woe is me this morning. The sun is out and its a fab day here in the emerald isle, but alas, I am gaining lbs like I am putting away all the pies, which I, sadly, am not. I am eating as well as usual where I tend to maintain (Although NOT on maintenance calories) yet I am gaining pretty much one lb per week, Im up to 130lbs now, and its pretty consistent. In 6 weeks I have gained 4lbs since I reached my goal 126lbs, sure I had a few splurges along the way but overall I thought I was doing pretty good, always having a deficit. Now I KNOW that cals in vs cals out is a winner, but it just does not seem to be working out for me anymore.

In other news, I will be attending an Oyster festival tomorrow (which I had hoped to be 128lbs). This is a celebration for all things seafood which my little village is famous for. So I am so excited free seafood chowder, mussels, oysters, smoked salmon all day and wine. I'm really going to try stay away from the scales for a while after all that, I think my heart would break to see the scale keep going higher!

Weldone to everyone who lost, or stayed put this week. Yours in this constant battle,

Hi ladies, hope you all had a good weekend,I was on mini vacation last week and I had a good time eating delicious food, ice cream and a good two bottles of wine, ugh.. To be fair I did a little hiking and swimming and wasnt a completely lazy yoke! But so not cool, Im up to 130lbs now which is my heaviest for a while, its pretty depressing to think I've put on 4lbs in as many weeks, I thought a lot of that was water weight but it hasnt gone down, the scale just keeps going up and up. Its frustrating me really. Other than my 2-3 days of eating over my usual, I'm being good with my diet, the only difference i can attribute it to is my upping 10-15grams in protein the last couple of weeks, Ive been adding extra fresh prawns, egg whites and smoked salmon into my lunch daily to try and balance out my ratios. Maybe the sodium in the smoked salmon is contributing, but I only eat about 1 oz of it with 600mg of sodium, could that make such an impact? I dont know, its just a pain to see the numbers going up. Anyone else have any weird spikes?

Well firstly congratulations on losing somuch weight. I completely understand your fears of piling the weight you've worked so hard to lose, but you have to try not to dwell on the negative. That will bring you only further from your goal. Begin today, right now with making the best choice available to you. I am also just back from a weekend away and am up about 5lbs on the scales, and yes it upsets me but this morning its straight away oatmeal for breakfast, egg whites for lunch and so on because that is the only way of reaching my goal. So really my advice to you is you clearly know what works for you and you hav the willpower and motivation to lose 120lbs you ae amazing, focus on what you know and implement it TODAY!! Good luck

Oh Danielle, I so understand your frustrations, i purposely did not log in last friday because I did not want to believe the 3lbs I gained from one weekend splurge (a wedding and my grandparents anniversary party) were to stay but yes almost 10 days later and I'm still 129lbs and Ive been unbelievably good with my eating and water consumption since, I'm so mad at my scale Im beginning to think its broken (wishful thinking), my only solace is my measurements are the same if not a little down but still I dont know what is up, I think Im retaining still (mostly in my boobs it would seem - this does not make me happy!) Anyway, I had really hoped to be down these lbs again this morning as I'm going for a mini-vaction tomorrow and it'll be nice food and wine for 3 days and I just know i'll be back seeing the 130s again by the weekend.. arghh!

Where about do you take as your 'waist' measurement? to keep an eye on my progress I usually measure 3, just under my ribs, then again around my navel, and then again the widest part of my belly, but I always wonder is the waist the smallest of the 3 as in just under your rib cage?

Anyway, I get told all the time that I look like Renee Zellweger.  Funnily enough, I got stopped on the street TWICE yesterday and was mistaken for her.

I don't see it, at all.

 Looking at your pics, you really do.
