"Cheer up goth!"

hahaha

But seriously, I'd tell myself not to take things so seriously, and to cut down on the alcohol. I'd also tell myself to save some money so that now I wouldn't be so poor!!!

YES! My stomach!

For some reason I have pretty good legs and arms, but my tummy is as round as....wel, I look like a teddy bear.

Sit ups seem to be helping, but I need to find other things that just use the stomach. I'm getting bored!

The Lounge Cats. Dogs.. Why? Jun 17 2008

Original Post by deviant:

Same thing for me! No matter what bad things my cats did, I could never stay angry at them for long. It's the whole I'm-so-cute-with-my-big-shiny-eyes thing every time. And I think I may like cats more than people. :S

I DEFINITELY like my cat more than people haha.

Which is odd, because my cat thinks she's a person. Or sometimes a dog. Or even a rabbit. She's definitely not 100% cat in the brain department haha. !00% mental, yeah.

Never Gonna Stop - Rob Zombie (chants "never gonna stop", excellent for getting through last 10 minutes or the fast periods of HIIT!)

Pretty much any Rob Zombie or White Zombie. There is one song in particular that goes out to all the meanies and jerks who have sought to tear me down...it goes "one two three, who should I kill? Every m**f**r runnning up the hill"...I always imagine those jerks chasing me up a big hill and i get to the top and have ultimate power and can decide who lives or dies muah hahaha (I have issues) (I am actually a very gentle person lol)

I love bouncing like a mad thing to Dragula or Living Dead Girl haha. Rob Zombie = awesome :D

When you go for a run at 8am because you want to go out for a meal in the evening (sad but true)

Looking at all the burgers and fries on the McDonald's website is on a par with porn...and you feel dirty and guilty looking at it.
And then you check all the nutritional values of all the burgers you just slobbered over.

Yeah, I recently switched from cider to spirits too to avoid calorie nighmares. I do miss the appley goodness though :(

I think diet coke should be ok, but if you are drinking it in large quantities remember you still need to be hydrated by water too. Plus, be careful of the amount of additives you are filling yourself with.

But I think pepsi max tastes better than regular pepsi anyway...

Fitness Mini Trampolines? May 30 2008
08:58 (UTC)

wew wew! Trampolines!

I tend to work out mostly every day, I started doing 20 mins, but I'm hoping to build it up to 45 within the next two weeks. Try making up your own moves that use different muscle groups - crunches standing up, jogging really fast on the spot whilst punching straight up in the air....it's all good!

I found also that music makes you finish each excercise after 5 mins or so when the song's ended and not before, because my body seems to think it's dancing or something haha

I'd recommend a mini trampoline to ANYONE. I got mine for £5.50 from ebay, i can workout whenever I want, nobody can see me get sweaty, and it's already helped me lose 2lbs in a week. BRILLIANT!

Fitness Body Pump May 30 2008
08:54 (UTC)

I love body pump! I moved house though and they don't do it near me :(

Thing is though, I don't really like to lift weights too often, because I muscle up WAAY quickly, and I end up looking like heman.....so body pump is good because you don't have to use mega weights if you don't want to.

I love shoulders and collarbones too. Nom nom nom.

And sometimes if a guy has a super nice nose, I'll go weak at the knees :D

I made a list of things to treat myself with when I reach my 5lb goals that are NON food related (even though I love tasty treats :( )

5lb from start (so 3lb to go) ----> New haircut

10lb ---> Tuxedo Jacket (awwwwww yeah! :D I'm not mad..HOW cool will a tuxedo jacket look with the sleeves rolled up and skinny jeans? The 80s are gonna be huge :p)

15lb ---> Bottle of Sailor Jerry's (A girl's gotta drink...and premium spiced rum is the way to do it)

20lb ---> Tattoo/re-pierce my lip (depending on where I work at this point)

25lb ---> HOT NEW JEANS FOR MY NEW TINY ARSE!! wew!

and after that I dunno, I'll have to think of awesome cool stuff.

I wish:

  • The food that makes me the happiest was the best for me
  • That exercise made me look healthy instead of turning me into a sweaty blob
  • That semi skimmed milk tasted half as good as whole :(
  • That my life wouldn't revolve around food
  • parties/going out didn't mean going to macdonalds/pizza hut
  • I could drink gin straight, to save on calories :p

I walked into town and back (around 45mins altogether)..

and then I did my made-up trampoline workout for 30 mins, and did 5 mins of sit ups (I'm not yet at a stage where I can do enough so it's worth counting...I just do it along with the music until the song is over and then I scream with pain haha)

Oh GODDD I love sugar :( Especially honey. I can't go a day without it. I heard that some honey is good for you though? I just can't seem to cut back, all my foods tend to be sugary - tomato-based pasta things, apples, dried fruit (nom nom nom raisins!!) and of course my obligatory honey/square of dark chocolate/jelly.....

I think as long as it's in moderation it should be ok...but I dunno what moderation is! haha

Young Calorie Counters HELP! I can't give up diet soda! May 28 2008

I know diet soda is the holy grail on here, but I'd really advise cutting back - there's just something about artificial sweetners like aspartame that just give me the heebie jeebies.

Of course I drink a little diet irn bru occasionally (hey, I am kinda scottish :p) and vodka wouldn't be the same without soda, but really water is the best best BEST thing for you. I heard that phenylalanine can't be absorbed properly by your body and settles as tiny amounts of formaldehyde. HOW scary?

Young Calorie Counters Why? May 28 2008
11:25 (UTC)

I've definitely found that round where I live, fatter people are allowed to be overweight because they are seen as happy and living their lives....and people just accept that overweight people are normal. Wheras thin/underweight people are constantly berated and seen as unhealthy and told they should eat more. Even I get called "skinny" and I'm 160lbs at 5'7".

It annoys me becasue although yes, people can eat whatever they want, I'm not going to stop them, why should I get told constantly that people being "chubby" or "cuddly" is not a bad thing? Comfort eating is just as bad as starving yourself - it's a mental condition where food is used to make you happier. And I have some friends who I love to bits, but I can't get them to see that they are harming themselves - to them, being fat makes them an elite club or something ridiculous like that. They even call themselves "the fatties".

I'm also sick of seeing overweight people shove pasties and sausage rolls into their toddler's mouths. These kids do not have a chance if their parents are feeding them awful fatty food. It makes me sad.

I think this has touched a nerve since ever since I began this diet, I've had a least one person every day say to me "aw god Katie, you don't need to be on a diet, look at you! Go on, have a biscuit". FOR GOD'S SAKE!! I'm at the high end of average, if I weighed 2lbs more I'd be slightly overweight! NOT SKINNY! arghhhhhh!!!!

er, sorry about that. Bit of a rant there.

Foods Sea Salt versus Regular Salt? May 27 2008
00:03 (UTC)

Personally, I'm a great believer in my homemade saying "salt is salt wherever it came from". I mean, what health benefits would you get from grecian goddesses hand-drying delicate salt flakes on the pristine beaches of babylon as opposed to just mining it out of the ground.

I was reading the Observer food monthly today (a day late I know) and there were loads of interviews about what chef's couldn't do without. Most of them said a certain brand of sea salt (i can't remember which one). How can salt taste different from other salt? It's all sodium and magnesium, right? I understand the texture might be different, and if you were making baked sole with a salt crust or whatever, you'd use flakes but.....well, I just don't believe that sea salt has any great pros against rock salt.

This is just a rant of mine that my housemates heard earlier today haha (what lucky guys, they get to live with a girl who gets worked up about salt haha)

Saying all this, I LOVE salt. I eat it in mostly everything - to a safe level obviously.

Foods What are you eating now that you weren't before you started this ? May 26 2008

- whole-weat pasta

- drinking tea without sugar!!!11!!! omgg

- semi-skimmed milk instead of whole

- soy beans

- sea bass...in fact, any fish that isn't in a tin or batter/breadcrumbs

- bran flakes

- dried apricots

And I'm sure there's a lot more! I'm so surprised I like most of these things...I have such a sweet tooth, but my change in diet has helped me appreciate the tastes in foods that I thought were bland. Lessons I've learned:
1) Salt doesn't need to be on everything all the time
2) Ditto gravy
3) Fizzy drinks are overrated

Foods Cooking fish May 26 2008

Well I tried a Jamie Oliver thing today with sea bass (OMG yum!)

Plop it on some tin foil, squeeze half a lime on it, twist some salt on it if you want, wrap it up in the foil, and put it in the oven for about 15-20 mins.
ABSOLUTELY yummy.

If it was tuna I'd have used soy sauce or ginger (or both) but it's a really good way of keeping the goodness in the fish while cooking it, and keeping it moist as. yum!

Well...anything by those guys haha

And Crimewave by Crystal Castles as I discovered today...I can't resist it on the dancefloor, it seems I can't resist it's charms on the old trampoline either!

And if I'm in a lazy mood where I give up easily, I kick my ass with Aphrodite drum and bass brutality. If that doesn't force me to work up a sweat I may as well just go back to bed haha
