losing_w8:  i have the same problem from time to time. i'll be good all day long then when night time comes...its all over! haha. i find drinking water really helps then ask yourself if you're really hungry or just bored. most of the time its just boredom. or have fruit. it really fills you up and satifies your sweet tooth.

good job randomlife!! :)

prettymess: good to hear! :) its always a relief when that happens. haha i love taco bell too!

randomlife219: good idea! i'll start e-mailing you my daily food + excercise routine starting tomorrow. and feel free to remind me im a fatass if you notice im starting to eat bad foods here and there or you think im lagging on the excercise. lol. ;p

i love skinny cow! i haven't tried their fudge pops yet, but i will.  i really like their 'skinny dippers' popsicles. (80 cals each). i can never stop at 1 though and eat 2-3 at a time. :T or dreyers has these cream popsicles which are yummy too! (45 cals/each).

i know what you mean. i hate telling ppl im on a "diet" when they ask me why im not drinking or pigging out along w/ everyone else. makes me feel like a party pooper. haha but then you feel good about it the next day so its worth it. aww poor you!! i read what happened tues night. and to answer your question, although im sure it was rhetorical, i think the cals count for 1/2 of what you ate. lol. i read an article about bulimic girls once and a lot of ppl think that when they throw up all the calories you just ate are gone, but its really only half...? something along those lines. (ok...that might sound strange to ppl reading this haha...but no one here is bulimic....)

welcome everyone!! :)

prettymess: maybe its water weight? most likely you didn't consume 17,500 calories over the weekend. i know sometimes when i binge for a few days....my weight goes up 3-4 lbs...but then a few days later it goes back down to my normal weight.

randomlife: thanks for the website! i think i'll give the zigzag diet a try. i just need to find a way to motivate myself on a daily basis and keep away from bad foods. i just don't know how to say no to ice cream and high calorie foods.

i am overeating. i count calories for a few days, then i get sick of it, then eat whatever i want for a few days, then go back to counting. i don't know how to stick to my plan. any tips on motivation?

welcome belladonna! im trying to get down to 125 but at the same time have a healthier relationship w/ excercise and food. i think i gained so much weight because i abuse food with boredom and emotional eating. i like how you said you focus less on the # now and more on the bigger picture of getting healthy. i feel the same way sometimes...my goal seems so far away. but you have a very motivating and positive outlook on this whole thing! :)

ugh! this is so sad! i've been using cc for about a month now and in total i've only lost 2 lbs!! :( maybe im not being strict enough or excercising enough.

randomlife219: thats great your back down! the zig zag diet is when you do 1,200 calories one day, then the next day you do 1,500 calories, etc. right? so your body doesn't think its starving or something?

LOL....sorry....i just started laughing when i read you guys' wii comments. how funny yet mean that a machine does that!!

ishkabibbles: do you find it hard to count calories sometimes? especially when you eat chinese dishes that wouldn't be listed on these websites? or you have no idea what they're even called in english. i usually prepare my own breakfast + lunch so i can keep track of calories since its mostly american foods. but dinner time is always something chinese since my mom makes it and i always have to guess how many calories are in it.

try working out in the mornings. i noticed as the day goes by...you can start making more excuses of things you have to do instead of workout. if you get it over with in the mornings, its out of the way and you don't have to think about it. or try bringing your gym bag with you in your car so when you come home from school/work you can go directly to the gym. i noticed if i go home first to have dinner or watch some tv, i never leave the house after that to hit the gym cause i get into lazy mood.

randomlife: wow 106! crazy! and i thought it was bad here in CA. don't worry about the 2 lbs...im sure it will come off quickly...

ishkabibbles: no problem :)

i've never heard of vampire romance before. sounds interesting though! i was totally going to quit using cc and stopped logging in my calorie intake for a few days cause it seemed like a lost cause.

but then i went to borders and started looking around the motivational diet books and got "the secrets of skinny chicks." its pretty good so far. it doesn't really talk about what to eat or how to excercise because i think i already know what im suppose to be doing. its more of a mental thing for me though. it talks about eating when you are actually hungry and stopping before you get full.  i realized the majority of the time that i'm eating it's because its time to eat, people around me are eating, or i'm just bored and trying to avoid doing what i'm really suppose to be doing. anyway, it's sort of obvious that you're not suppose to eat when you're not hungry and stop before you're full, but i think i've kind of forgotten all that and i always tend to just clean my plate b/c its soo good or out of habit.

goal of the week: 60 minutes of cardio 5x this week

welcome prettymess and bertanny86! we're here to help!

Hi supersized! I would love to be a member of this thread. It sounds like a good idea to have weekly check-ins in order to hold everyone accountable. I read your response on "why one cannot stick to a plan?" and totally agree on what you said about having the knowledge on how to lose the weight, but having an all-or-nothing mentality, slipping and going crazy with food, etc. That's my life story right there! So anyway, its nice to find ppl who are going through the same thing. By the way, what's a PM?

randomlife219: thx for the info! it does help to see what other ppl are eating to lose lbs. instant oatmeal works really good cause it has so little calories but it fills you up! i think i'm the same...i get majority of my calories from dinner. its easy for me to be good all day long but its always night time that gets me in trouble. the chances of me going a little crazy with food is higher. haha. have fun in boston! :)

ishkabibbles: so if you want to lose 2 lbs/week, thats 3,500 x 2 = 7000 calorie deficit by eating less or excercising. you're eating 1,230 daily, 2000 - 1,230 = 770. 770 x 7 = 5,390 calories already taken off. 7000 - 5,390 = 1,610 calories you need to burn by excercise all week. 1,610 / 7 = 230 calories you have to burn daily at the gym.

hmm...i should probably lower my calorie intake then since i don't excercise much. so if i wanna lose 2 lbs/week thats 7000 calories to burn a week. i burn a little over 2000 calories daily just living. so if i eat 1,300 calories/day thats cutting out 700 calories a day which equals out to 4,900 calories a week. 7000-4900 = 2,100 calories to get rid of by excercising. 2,100 / 7 = 300 calories to burn daily at the gym. i think thats definitely possible. or i can even skip some days at the gym and just stay longer to make up for the lost day(s).

do you find it hard to stick with 1,200 calories/day randomlife219? on those days i eat 1,200 i'm starving and am soo tempted at night to eat more. ok so im going to start pre-planning my meals on a daily basis so i'll always be prepared and never stuck eating junk because theres nothing else around.

Breakfast: maple brown sugar oatmeal (low sugar) - 120 calories

    banana - 105 calories

Lunch: noah's bagel cranberry bagel - 320 calories

Snack: apple - 100 calories

Dinner: (10) dumplings - 500 calories

= 1,145ish calories (i'm sure im undercalculating somewhere)

I know how you feel about being unmotivated about working out. I feel like it's so much easier to just diet alone rather than diet + excercise at the same time. When I workout, I get hungrier and it's harder for me to keep the calories under control.

If you get bored of the gym and the usual routine, going to a class always makes things a little more interesting. Time goes by faster since you're following an instructor and you make yourself get out of your comfort zone. I always get really sore after taking a step or weight lifting class cause the class makes you push yourself harder than you normally would on your own.

damsel: wow! 5x a week for 7 months is really good!! I wish I could be that consistent with my workouts. Do you normally go in the mornings or in the afternoon?

jennapher ~ I know what you mean about the age thing! I keep telling myself I'm suppose to be at my peak physique since I'm in my mid 20s. If I'm struggling with my weight now, won't it be even harder when I get into my 30s? But we just have to take control of it now. There's nothing we can do about the past, just be healthier from now on.

How many calories is everyone eating on a daily basis? I was thinking 1,500- 1,600. Not sure if thats too many calories and if I should be aiming lower? But my thinking is if I start off eating 1,200-1,300 calories/daily, that doesn't give me much wiggle room to lower my calories as I lose weight.

good job on the progress randomlife! :)

Lol...thats exactly what I do when I go to Burger King! (I go occasionally since its next door to my work)....I go straight to the nutrition info posted on the wall. I can see strangers giving me weird looks though. They're probably thinking...why are you even bothering looking when you're at a fast food place?!  But you're right, who cares what they think! hahaha

Somtimes i think calorie counting makes me go a little crazy. I'm constantly thinking about food, not necessarily because I'm hungry, but because I sign on to cc to log my food intake several times a day or else I forget the small things I ate here and there and also to make sure I'm still under my daily calorie limit. :T Does anyone else feel that way?

I'm actually not a runner. I signed up for the marathon hoping that it would motivate me to start excercising/running more. I usually avoid the treadmill at the gym and head straight for the elliptical machines. I think I avoid running cause it gets me tired really fast, I hate how sweaty I get, and when you have boobs its not that comfortable to run....lol. Its dumb cause running is a really good workout.

ichabod: thats great that you lost 2 lbs your first week! don't beat yourself up too much on what you had over the weekend. it was memorial wknd and bbqs and food everywhere! i went a little crazy myself last weekend as well.

randomlife: running a mile after you haven't run for awhile is tough. i know what you mean. you feel like you're going to pass out at first...but then after awhile its not too bad.

jdh: maybe your body needs that food because you excercise a lot? I noticed on days I do 60 minutes of cardio, I'm starving and tend to eat more. Probably to make up for the calories that I burned.

Weight Loss buddys needed! trying to lose 10-15lbs by July 4th May 14 2008

im currently 5'5" 160 lbs. i would like to lose 20 lbs by mid-end of july as well. after reading what you guys eat on a day-to-day basis...im rethinking my diet. you all eat really healthy and very little...which is what i should be doing as well. so this is sort of a wake up call.

dieting has always backfired for me. once i lose 10-20 lbs from eating really little, i somehow go crazy with food and gain everything back plus more. it really sucks cause i need to find some sort of balance and healthy lifestyle to keep forever.
