I go to U of A....where do you go? haha

yeah 19 credits is the maximum you can take but I'm taking 5 through the community college here so it all works out.

it SOUNDS like a lot of work, and it definitely is, it's doable.

and for the person who asked about ochem, it's going well. I like it a lot actually. Just had my first exam yesterday and I think I did pretty well on it but I can never really tell. hahaha.

just plan to spend a lot of time memorizing things and once you get the hang of it, it really isn't terrible :)

yeah i usually do make my meals at home, but i havent had any time to go to the grocery store lately so that's the only reason i've been eating out.

but i don't eat just one meal a day. I eat breakfast, lunch (which is usually a big meal) and then hopefully a small dinner.

It's just I'm more concerned with the uneven distribution of calories.

For example, breakfast is usually 300 cal, then lunch is like 700, and then dinner is like 400 or something. Is this ok?

i've been wondering about greek yogurt..is there a difference in taste between it and regular yogurt? are there any additional health benefits?

greek yogurt is much tangier than regular yogurt, much more like sour cream in taste and texture. i usually had fruit preserves (cherry fruit spread from trader joes OMG) and some sweetener to it to make it taste yummmmmmy.

and it has a grip load of protein in it. thats why i eat it.

i would suggest opting for the 2% over 0%. I personally think the 0% is way tangier and not as creamy as the 2%, and the difference in calories is miniscule. 1 cup of 2% has 130 calories in it i believe, and its WAY better!!!

Actually 2% has 150 Calories. Still difference is not that big, but people here freak out about splenda packets having 4 Calories. Undecided

UD

i knew it was somewhere along those lines but wasn't exactly sure. anyways that is considered "miniscule" to me since i dont really freak out/count my calories obsessively. nonetheless, they are both great but 2% is more satisfying to me :)

this is exactly why i dont have a boyfriend.

im a second year college student supporting myself and i barely have time for myself, let alone another person!!

i commend you. he needs to realize that there are priorities in your life, and yes, he is one of them, but he doesn't outweigh the others. honestly, your education is the most important thing in your life right now (at least that is how it is for me!) and if he only has criticism for you after you explain things to him, maybe he isn't the right person for you. or he just has some growing up to do before you guys can continue the relationship.

i dont know, but school and work is definitely possible, good job, and hang in there!

i have had 3 thin mints thus far. i am amazed at myself, i too used to be a girl scout!

anyways, i suggest you buy only ONE box. pick your favorite flavor, and know that you cant buy anymore. that way you'll savor each and every bite, and make them last as long as you can :)

drink a lot of water. whenever you feel like you want to eat something, drink water FIRST, and then proceed to eating.

also, for late night studying, I like to have a cup of coffee with a dash of nonfat milk, and 1/4 cup of almonds. that usually tides me over and keeps me going.

or sometimes ill make a bowl of edemame, or some greek yogurt.

its all about finding the snacks that are good for you, taste great, and will fill you up. :) good luck!

looking back on my swimming days, I wish I had been more knowledgable about the kinds of foods to eat to maximize energy. I imagine I would have been so much better!

anywho, the breakfast I just had seems pretty nice.

light whole grain english muffin with peanut butter (mine has flaxseed in it from trader joes)

then i mixed a cup of fage 2% yogurt with some organic cherry fruit spread and some sweetener.

it has a good mixture of protein and carbs in my opinion, and around 450 cals. it also really fills you up

i used to always eat bananas and peanut butter too but all those flip turns just increased the acid reflux from the fruit haha!

good luck :)

what I do is generally spoon in some fruit preserves in the yogurt, with some splenda.

i just tried the organic cherry preserves from trader joes last night and its safe to say that was THE MOST amazing thing i'd ever had. way better tasting than the german chocolate birthday cake sitting in my microwave. hahaha :)

I work at an ice cream restauraunt and generally the shakes we make have at least 4 HUGE scoops of ice cream in it, plus whole milk.

it's not really surprising that it would contain that many, im sure the shakes we sell have closer to a 1000 calories.

its really terribly, honestly. and its even worse working there every day. talk about a healthy food eater's nightmare.

Weight Loss Does anyone here NOT count calories? Dec 15 2008

i rarely log what i eat these days. it made me way too obsessive before. i have a well-rounded knowledge of foods that are calorie dense, but good for you. and although i dont count calories, i usually estimate in my head what i've consumed and i've found it works for me.

im still struggling to make sure i get enough calories for the day but its nice to not log everything because then i'll allow myself to eat something "bad" and i wont feel so bad for it. i just make sure to eat healthy for the rest of my meals/snacks.

ok since you just finished your exams, it really is time to celebrate!

i know i've been treating myself here and there if I find out i got an A on a final, or something. i have 4 finals left and i know i'll probably treat myself to a night out. but then just gotta get back on track the next day!

also i dont know about your alcohol tolerance but i know when mine is low, and i have 2 beers, i can get fairly tipsy, for lack of a better word.

alcohol has always made me binge at night, and i mean BINGE (like a huge burrito, or nachos, plus anything sweet and sugary in my house.)

so im making an effort to steer clear of alcohol, at least dont drink past the point where i cant make good food choices.

dont be disappointed, you'll get back on track!

Weight Loss Is it bad to have too much dairy? Dec 11 2008

for breakfast i generally have 1/2 cup of yogurt with a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese

as a snack i'll have one string cheese

and then i really dont know how much other cheese i eat, it varies. sometimes i have a LOT and other times i just have a little.

and if i make whole wheat pasta that night, i'll use a 1/2 cup cottage cheese to make it kind of lasagna-y

then sometimes i'll make a dessert out of cottage cheese.

come to think of it, it all varies. i just want to make sure im allowed to have a lot if i want. ha

do not buy tuna/chicken salad at restaurants!! seriously the amount of mayo they put in that stuff is atrocious. the kind we sell at my work basically drips mayo! ew.

but yeah if you make it at home, it's very healthy! using the low fat mayo will make it better, but what i found that works just as well is using cottage cheese instead of the mayo.

i make a really yummy chicken salad with cottage cheese, full of protein!
