Thank you. I will take your advice to heart. Being in the military and over to Iraq twice, I've had a huge attitude change and am trying to overcome those negatives I gained. Take care and thanks again. |

That helps tremendously. Thanks. And thanks to your husband for his civil duty. If you don't mind me asking another question, how was the classroom stuff? Is there some things I might to read or review before going into the academy? |

Original Post by figurethefat: You know you can't say that you aren't hurting by paying these ridiculous prices. How is that these BIG GUYS you are defending can make "RECORD" Profits and you not be upset about it. Yes this is the Land of the Home and the Brave, I participated in that Campaign. But still, gas going up 14 cents overnight and then a few days later another 10-12 cents. Come on. This hurts everything. WE ARE IN A RECESSION. Why gouge the working class so they can make their quick bucks and live the luxurious lifestyle the average American only dreams about? Enough is enough, but we can't just stop buying gas. |

I was wondering what the academy is like and how "Military" do they get as far as instructors yelling. I was in the Army for 5 years and if I have to go through another "Basic Training" be in your face all the time, I will probably get kicked out!! LOL. |

"That Guy / Girl" is the person that walks out of a store and cuts you off in the hallway, walks super slow and then just immediately stops, or is walking slowly after cutting you off b/c they are digging in their purse, bag, etc... UGGGHHHH I hate those people. And people who don't use turn signals.... But I love that phrase, my friends and I use it all the time!!! |

Another phone case!! On my way to Iraq for a deployment I was taking my cell phone with me due to it had all my numbers so basically my phone-book!!! LOL. Well on my flight over there I was flying a military plane C-17 with my vehicles. My phone fell out of my pocket and I didn't realize it until I was actually in Iraq. Well, one of the flight crew guys found my phone, saw the last number called and ended up calling my then fiancee now wife from Germany. He got our address and mailed my phone back to her. We still keep in touch with him. |

You can add water to your intake but like Fuzzys stated, water doesn't have any calories, you either sweat it out or well.... you know!!! LOL |

Sometimes when there wasn't a morsel in the house except for some items I would just have to get by on a cheese sandwich. Piece of cheese between two slices of bread, or just one piece of bread to conserve for the next day, or spam. Isn't SPAM always something that the "poor" eat. I hate the word poor. Just doesn't seem right. Oh well. |

Howdy, Yeah, I hear everyone about gaining weight fast. It is so hard to lose but yet so easy to pack in. I was in Iraq in 2006 and through part of 2008. A 15 month deployment. I lost a lot of weight in that 15 months, but it was easier, I had time to focus on my diet and eat right, plus the heat and sweating. Well ever since I came home, oh buddy. I gained everything I lost plus some. For me it was not being able to drink beer or liqour for 15 months and I also cut out the soda. I had ample to time to go workout as well. Now since I am home I am getting back to the gym after like an eight month hiatus. But the beer and soda are my evil friends. I weigh the most I ever weighed in my life 235-240 lbs. So, I am hoping to get down to 200 at the most and the from there down to 190-195. It is all the motiviation. I just need to spend more time in the workout department and watch what exactly I eat. Last friday was a killer. Drank way too much with a friend that is preparing to leave this weekend to go overseas. But I don't feel bad about it but my body is paying the price. |

Wow, thanks everybody for the insight. I didn't have breakfast this morning as I was rushed to get my girls (2 Golden Retrievers) out and then head off to work. So hopefully I can start my breakfast kick tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. Thanks again. |

Well I use to have the problem of wanting to sleep all the time. Now it seems I can't get enough and somedays can't sleep at all. Stems from my lifestyle, being overseas didn't help any either. But when I had problems waking up, I always set 3-4 alarms clocks. One by the bed and the others to where I knew I could here them but had to actually get out of bed to shut them off. That seemed to help me out quite a bit. Then the motivation comes from within and those around you. Maybe get your husband involved in exercises with you. The exercises you both could do, walking, jogging, biking, hiking, fun activities to help each other. The more he realizes your goals and wants then he may be inclined to go on a diet with you and be your motivation. Good luck on the sleep and hopefully the numerous alarms will help until you get a pattern of sleep down. If you want to talk further for motivation send me a message. |

Sar_rah_rah, I just recently came off Active Duty and spent two years in the Sandbox! I know the feeling about indulging after returning home. But the weight loss before hand yeah, I did the same for both of my tours and was able to lose even more over there, as I am sure you did as well. I hope you make it home safely from this tour. Good luck. |

Another reasoning that people say diet soda is bad is a mentality effect. Someone says I am drinking diet soda so therefore I can drink more which with the artificial sweetners isn't a good thing. But if you are only drinking one a day and have lost that much weight, keep it up. Don't let others bog you down with their nonsense. If you feel good, keep doing what you are doing. Congrats on the weight loss too! |

| New Members | Confused about the calorie count | May 14 2008 19:39 (UTC) |

The reasoning behind why you may not be seeing weight loss right away is for body adjustment to your new diet. As well if you are consuming 1400-1500 cal per day and only working out 2-3 times a week you aren't burning all the calories you have consumed for the week. Try to modify and get a workout in everyday, whether it be taking your new baby (congratulations by the way) out on a leisurely stroll will even work too. The activity log will show how many calories you have burned if you hold true. Stick it out and it will show. That is the perception about dieting is for quick results which aren't always necssarily true. Give it some time and you will see the changes!!!! I am new here myself. |

| Weight Loss | What's the correct amount of carbs to consume in a day? | May 13 2008 20:13 (UTC) |
2 |
I believe it really shouldn't matter greatly to how many carbs you should intake. I am new in the dieting world and really couldn't give you a definite answer, but from my knowledge carbs are energy and depending on what kind you eat will give you instant or slow reacting. The calories is what I've always been told. Burn more than what you eat. As well follow the portion size rule, if it is bigger than your fist the portion is too big, that only goes for certain types of foods though. |
