Young Calorie Counters waist measurements? May 21 2008

I'm 5'8" and about 142lbs, and my waist is 29 inches.

By the sounds of it, you have been measured wrong. But then again, everyone carries weight differently.

I have all my other measurements in a journal if anyone wants to know. Just too tired to post them. Tongue out (It's called In this fair world, yeah, I name all the titles after lines from songs)

Young Calorie Counters Is this just another trend diet? May 21 2008

If you read the fine print to these type of diets, it always say how you can loose the weight in a really short amount of time, but then after that you put it all back on again.

Even if it was possible, I can only imagine how much it would probably mess you up. Loosing that amount of weight in such a short amount of time isn't healthy.

New Members Breakfast, really a vital meal? May 15 2008

Calories eaten earlier in the day are utilised better than ones you eat later, and apparently those who skip breakfast are more likely to suffer from weight problems. Eating breakfast can also stop you from snacking throughout the day, and it wakes you up too.

Porridge with soy milk and/or honey/fruit.

Simple I know but quick and filling.

Just found this post and loved the idea.

My two faves have to be from the smoothie bar at University.

A 'Morning Glory'

Frozen banana, frozen strawberries, fat free frozen yogurt, soy milk, honey and oats.

Really filling.

And also porridge made with soy milk and a drizzle of honey.

Yum!

I've been told that a look like a chubby Gwenyth Paltrow, I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. Other than that I don't really look like anyone famous.

Young Calorie Counters She Called Me Skinny May 13 2008

In the right context, being called skinny by people is meant in a nice complimentary way. But I know where you're coming from.

I think it's a pretty harsh word myself, and much prefer the use of the word slim. If someone turned round and said to a slim person, 'You're too skinny' no-one would bat an eyelid. But if someone said to a bigger person, 'You're too fat', you'd think the world has fallen down.

Whenever I hear people say the world 'skinny' it always seems to be a thinly veiled insult.

It's never happened to me, but my mum gets it a lot, and it upsets her. Shes happy with her weight and how she looks, but other people find it hard to accept. Even though she has been the same size pretty much all her life.

The easiest way to loose muscle, is to go on a low calorie diet and don't exercise. Obviously this isn't any help to you if you want to stay in shape. By the looks of things though, you do a lot of high intensity exercising, things that really get you out of breath.

My suggestion would be for you to maybe lower your calorific intake, and do more aerobic exercising. Going for long runs, but jogging them slowly. Anything that's at long duration, but the pace is easy going. Given the nature of your injury, swimming seems to be the best thing for you to do. It will put the least amount of pressure on your knee, but will exercise every part of your body.

I hope that helps, I wasn't entirely sure what you wanted Laughing

Young Calorie Counters 5'7" or 5'8" girls! What size are you? May 12 2008
23:06 (UTC)
138

I'm 5'8" and I weigh 146 lbs.

I'm generally a UK size 12, but sometimes a 10 depending on the fit.

A few years ago, I was a lot lighter than I am now, much more active too. But that always left me with a problem, I have quite wide hips so my trousers always fit on the hips, and where big on the legs. So I've never managed to get any lower than a 10, which suits me just fine.

Young Calorie Counters do your parents eat like you? May 12 2008

My mum exercises a lot but she does tend to eat a lot of chocolate, crisps and fatty things. My dad can be even worse, since he doesn't exercise as much as she does. But to be honest, the meals themselves we eat are pretty healthy, and if it isn't, I just make my own.

I think it would be a lot easier to eat healthy if that was all my mum made, since sometimes if I've had a long day I'll just take whatever she's made regardless. But then again, I suppose that's just me being lazy. Tongue out
