Weight Loss May-August: Summer Weight Loss May 26 2009

Agh, this week has been awful for me. I'm way too stressed to even think about losing. I've stayed pretty much the same the whole time. I remember when being stressed meant that I would eat less!

Something about yourself: I really would like to be normal weight before I go back to school in September. New beginnings and all that. I've had disordered eating habits for quite a bit of my life (chewing/spitting on and off from 8-10, a tendency to starve from 12-14, and obsessive exercising for a year) but I'm slowly learning how eat properly and healthily :]

And Saturday progress sounds good!

I think it's the protein thing, thanks! I knew it wasn't calories as I only create a 500 deficit even with the cycling and running. I put it to my mum and she seemed to think that made sense, so I think I'll stick with adding more protein (I actually wasn't techincally eating enough of it) for a few weeks :D

Weight Loss Calorie deficit - eat less or work out more? Mar 08 2009

Both! I find that eating more makes it so that you feel a little less like you're on a diet. Plus, everyone's supposed to have at least half an hour of exercise a day, so you'd be able to get healthier as opposed to just dieting :D

lalabanana - Thanks! I hadn't thought of that actually. I'll try eating more veggies like spinach and broccoli for a while and switch to fortified cereals. I'm not a fan of multivitamins :/

colorado_sunshine - I don't think it's the protein issue, as I drink a lot of milk, and eat a lot of cheese, bread, eggs, mushrooms, etc. But I will check to make sure it all adds up properly!

jlc76 - Thanks for passing on your advice <3 I just wanted to see if there was a reason for me constantly thinking of it. If I make sure my diet still has everything it's supposed to, and I still have it on the brain, I will definitely consider switching to something else!

raynsong - I hadn't thought of meat alternatives, actually - I'll definitely take a look round for something similar when I go shopping today :D

Thanks to all of you for the great advice and recommendations!

Weight Loss Have to lose 10-12 pounds in 21 Days! Mar 05 2009

Even if you were to eat only 1200 a day, you would not be able to lose that extreme amount of weight unless you were obese. Which you are not. In three weeks, you could probably lose about... three pounds if you were lucky. Even if it's your dream, it's extremely unlikely that this kind of drastic plan will work.

Weight Loss Eating lower weight maintenance calories? Feb 15 2009

I've stopped growing heightwise, but I suppose all that still refers to bone, muscle, etc. development, so I see what you mean. I think I will raise my calories even further instead of dropping them then, and exercise more! Thank you :D

Spaghetti bolognaise and pasta in general. I actually physically can't eat normal portions of the stuff, and can easily consume 1200+ calories in one sitting :/

Hey all! :D

I'm 16, 5'2" and weigh 157lbs currently, which is 20lbs more than I weight before Christmas. Hoping to carry on with the weightloss that I was doing then, and drop down to about 107lbs - so I've got about 50lbs to lose :/

Young Calorie Counters YCCer's: What did YOU eat today? [4th to 11th of Feb 09] Feb 05 2009

What I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: Buttered granary toast with scrambled eggs and mayonnaise, actimel yoghurt drink

Lunch: Beef and pasta bake with cheese, bread chunks

Dinner: Tuna with tomato sauce, pitta bread

Because of all the extras I add (full-fat butter and mayonnaise, sundried tomatos, chopped herbs in olive oil, etc), this comes to about... 1600? I think I'm going to up the calories, because I've felt dizzy for the past week on this. No clue how to fit it in though - I'm really not big on snacking.

I'm a little over 5'2", my BF is 35% and I'm about 145lbs. I live in the UK, but I think our sizes are two bigger than America's, so me being a UK10-12 in tops and a UK14 in bottoms means I am a 6-8 in tops and a 10 in bottoms, I think.

After looking at those calculators, I'm probably going to drop to about 1700 and exercise my socks off - I don't think I'm active enough. I can't believe I ever survived on <500 a day...

Thanks for the further clarification! I'm glad to know that sugar intake is fine - I'd not particularly like to eat more :P

As for protein - I may increase it then, as I'm rather active. I was just taken aback, as most places seem to advocate 0.8g per kilogram. However, I've also seen a few places say 0.8 per pound. I assume this means the latter is correct?

Thank you :) CC says that my protein is usually 16-20%, but I'm not sure if it is referring to mass or calories (which are typically 1600-1800). This doesn't seem to correlate with the fact that I eat 80g protein a day.
