wow! I'm sooo jealous you went camping, krrpt!! I haven't been in sooo long! I managed to finish my homework for the week on Friday, and all Memorial Day Weekend was spent at different cook outs and what not.

Right now I have a 99.6% in my class!! woooooooooot!! now, to get on this paper.....

jess - hope your bbq went well!! at my job, each department put on their own bbq, but with 150 employees, that gets a lil pricey!! this year we're doing it a lil differently. I'm going to miss the bbqs!!

Hello all!!

I've been using OCM every other day for a week now (so basically, only used it 3x now). I can say that my face is extra soft, but it is bringing up the gunk and my face is breaking out worse than before. I am using EVOO, tea tree oil, Vitamin E, and threw in some lavender for smell.

I am going to give this a month. I figure it is just bringing up all the dirt and grime that is backed up right now. Also, on the days I don't use OCM, I will continue with my face wash.

I'll let ya'll know how it goes :)

krppt - thanks for the well wishes!!! I find that if i break down my to-do list by only one or two tasks at a time, I get them done fairly quickly and I feel so much more in control and productive!

jess - I am taking a lot of international politics, law, organizations, area studies, etc classes. i generally enjoy my papers, but this one is going to be a doosie!!

I've got that flub under my belly button too. I call it my "inner tube", it's just like I have a ring of fat around my belly!! I'm getting slightly frustrated because I've been hitting a wall with weight loss the last couple months. I've been staying between 160-162. ARGH!!!!

I'm going to try bringing down my calorie intake and shifting my work outs into overdrive!!!

Anything that has worked for other people for getting off the plateau would be most helpful!!

Thank you Molly and Med for the warm welcomes!! I'm hoping joining these challenges will give me some support in losing the weight. I've been on a plateau the last couple months and it's driving me BONKERS!!!! i'm lowering my calorie intake from 1500 to 1250 and adding new work outs (such as the jogging) - pray for me!! And thanks for the encouragement Med!!! I am not the jogging/running type at all!! I had asthma as a teenager, and ever since then have been afraid of running because I've had attacks before - and they're not fun!!

and congratulations, Med, on losing 30 pounds!! wooooo hooooooooo!!! i bet those baggy undies feel good Laughing

Hello everyone!!

First, for the question of the day -- I hate the original egg beaters!!! The one with yolk is ok, but the original made me gag!!! Never again!!

Ok, I think this is a great idea!! I am already in two groups to lose 10 lbs by July, but I am becoming a challenge whore :) No time like the summer to try to get that rockin body!!!

My goals are pretty much the same as yours, Molly, but I am personalizing them a bit:

1. to count my calories every day. I've only recently become conscious of this, and how my diet affects me. my biggest obstacle is planning my meals, just because I'm doing so much, I never think ahead when it comes to food!! I think I need to dedicate some time on the weekends before I go grocery shopping to draw up a menu for the week and stick to it!!

2. EXERCISE 5 days a week!! This is my first week sticking to this, and the week is almost over. I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN! in an ideal world, I'd like to start jogging every morning. that means going to bed earlier. I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN!

3. drink more water!

4. spend more time outside - this is where the jogging comes in, and the ol' hiking and biking!! hopefully swimming in the ol' water hole as well!!

WOW!!! this thread is the answer to my prayers!! I've had horrible acne since I was about 12, and it would come and go and I could never manage it!! In school I would get made fun of because of it :( I've tried several different products including nuetragena, proactive, clearisil, and countless others!! I am going to the store and trying this right away!! I'll let you know how things go!!

But, I am a fan of hers, so I might be biased :)

My experience has been that your REAL friends will stick with you, no matter where you live. I've moved a couple times in the last 2-3 years, and I've learned I have the best friends anyone could ask for. They've stuck with me throughout all the changes, and now I live a comfortable 20-30 minutes away (in a place I can afford).

If you are worried about making new friends, then there will always be opportunities to meet people at your work, at church, you can volunteer or take classes. and of course now, there are websites like myspace that you can search for other locals that may share some interests.

I think the most important thing is to not stretch your paycheck beyond your means. If you can only afford to live across town or in the next town over, I would not worry about it. Your true friends will be there for you even when you go broke, but a lease to an apartment is not so loyal!!

Good luck in your search!

I am needing some motivation for school!!! I am currently getting my Master's in International Relations and Conflict Resolution. I was great until I was not told that a book did not come with my textbook order, so I had to order it off of Amazon....well, it was supposed to show up last Thursday, but HAS NOT SHOWN UP YET!! So, I am trying to get everything done I can without the actual book infront of me. AHH!!

Not only that, but I have a 15-20 page paper due in 6 weeks!! WHAT?!?

Wish me luck guys/girls!!

Great topic!! Anyone feeling down about their progress should check this thread out :)

This weekend, I was attending a quarterly conference for work. I was surprised with a $50 gift card (along with a Thank You card) to one of my favorite restuarants!! It was supposed to be anonymous, but I figured it out. Just for doing my job. How nice was that??

Not to toot my own horn, but part of what makes me, me, is that I adopt deployed soldiers. The military is a big passion of mine, and I try to do all I can for our servicemen and women. This conference I went to took place at a very posh hotel, with lots of guests coming in and out. Well, I ran into a couple different guys in uniform. I stopped for a split second to just thank them for serving our country. You should have seen the smile on their faces!!! Man, doing that just gives me a huge rush!!

I was feeling bad about coming on here and having a bad weekend, but now I am encouraged to see I wasn't the only one!! I weighed myself yesterday, and I actually seemed to have gained a pound - but I am bloated right now, so I am not going to let it get to me. They say that that's the best time to work out, so I am doing some sort of moderate - heavy exercise every day this week!

Menu for me tomorrow:

Breakfast: Special K Cereal with FF milk

Snack: Trail Mix

Lunch: Progresso Light chicken & vegetable soup

Snack: Trail Mix or Light & Fit yogurt

Dinner: Chicken breast with lettuce on wheat roll

Snack: Strawberries and blackberries with light whipped cream

Exercise: 30 min elliptical, 30 min strength training and stretching

Good luck to everyone this week!! I hope I'll be as lucky/disciplined as some others who are on their way to meeting their goal!!

Fitness elliptical vs. running May 15 2008

i can't run - get shin splits (trying leg exercises to prevent this, so I can learn how to run!) i always use the elliptical at the gym, and i get twice the work-out as i do on the treadmill. i always feel better using the elliptical. i say whatever you feel comfortable doing - but i WILL learn to run one day!! ;-)

this sounds like just the kinda group i need to join!! I'm 5'2", 160 lbs and want to lose 10 lbs by July. If I can do that, then maybe I can lose another 10 by November, when I am going to Italy. want to be lookin good!! my problem is that I can't stay focused. I don't think of meals ahead of time to make sure they're healthy enough, and I don't get motivated to go work out often enough. So I need people to keep me on my toes!!!

my regular exercise is that I walk to work every day - including back and forth at lunch. I go to the gym once a week but need to do more!! I also try to work in an exercise like hiking or biking once a week. I printed out a work out regimen from this site that hopefully will help me out!! Thanks everyone for participating!! and feel free to kick my butt on here!! I need it!!

My menu for today:

Bfast: Quaker oatmeal weight control maple & brown sugar

Snack: Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt Strawberry & Banana

Lunch: Maybe some chicken breast on a tortilla with FF sour cream

Snack: either another yogurt, or Kashi mediterranean crackers

Dinner: up in the air. my boyfriend is taking me out, so pray that I resist temptation and stay with the healthier stuff!!

Exercise: i walk an hour on average every week day by walking to and from work. if it's nice out after work, I'd also like to do some hiking by the canal.

Hi Mariyumm!

I have no experience with spousal deployments, I am not married. But, my dad was in the Navy and would go out to see for half the year. I spent half my childhood without him. It is rough. But, your husband is doing an awesome thing, as I'm sure you know!! Your kids have a daddy they can be proud of!! Please tell your husband "thank you" for his service for me :)

Incidentally, I am part of a volunteer organization that helps out families of deployed soldiers. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask!! My prayers are with you.

Hi Viv!! How are you doing?? I just joined this site yesterday, so now I am looking around on the forums and just posted my introduction! Man, I haven't been 118 since high school!! I am now 160, but trying to get down to 145. I think I'd be ok with that weight. I noticed you live in VA. Depending on whereabouts, we might be neighbors!!

Well, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself :) Hope you have a nice day!!
