Weight Loss timing of meals? Jul 02 2008

I've been seeing a lot of this lately. I think it makes more sense to eat more at the beginning of the day too and that's why for the past week and a half or so I have been doing this (except on weekends really).

Eating about 150 calories every 2 hours-ish. I eat more for breakfast though... 250-300 cals and sometimes more for dinner... 250 cals. So far, it's working great for me. I never get hungry, don't binge, or crave much b/c I get to eat every 2 hrs!

Foods Is 1200cal per day healthy? Jul 02 2008

About a week and a half ago I started eating 150 cals every 2 hours-ish and I struggle to get to 1200 now. I eat more than 150 for breakfast though (maybe 250-300) and sometimes I eat a little more than 150 for dinner... around 200. This isn't the case on the weekend though b/c it's harder for me to eat every 2 hours.

The funny thing too is I am never really hungry and I never end up 'craving' things b/c I know I am going to get to eat something very soon!

LOL, yeah... NO to becks light! My friend drank that for a month and then gave up because she got a buzz off like 12 beers! Not really worth it when you could have 5 Mich Ultras or Bud Lights...

Yeah, that's what I do... it's a snack container I bring to work. Well, I don't mind if it isn't exactly a cup (I usually pour in enough so it's just below the 8 oz line). I just want to make sure I am not eating 2 servings!

Well you put the plastic container in the fridge, right? After you open wheat germ it has to be refrigerated. Then I read online the shelf life is 9 mts if it's in a plastic container, which mine is not! I guess I better put the package into a sealed container as well. However, 9 mts seems like a long time since its 8-12 mts unopened. I am thinking more like 4 mts? I have had mine for about a week and its been in the fridge closed tightly and still looks good. Had it on my cereal this morning.

Weight Loss 150 cals every 2 hours? Jun 25 2008
16:36 (UTC)

Breakfast is when I have my big meal I guess and dinner is bigger sometimes.

Last night my roomie and her boyfriend made this vegetable, rice, shrimp, chicken dish so I ate that. Tonight I am just going to have a whole wheat tortilla with black beans and a little cheese though which comes out to like 250 cals. I too treasure dinnertime, but we will see. Also, this will be hard(er) for me to follow on the weekend as I go home to my parents house usually on Sunday and my mom fixes big dinners.

Breakfast is around 250 calories too and then I have like 5 150 calorie snacks.

Yeah I know... I will be mixing mine with silk vanilla light soy milk. I don't want to use the original b/c it's very high in sugar and calories. Whereas the sugar free has no cals and no sugar and the lightly sweetened has 21 cals, 5 g sugar.

So far I am liking this! I get bored at work and end up snacking, but this way I have to "snack" every 2 hours!

Okay. I think I am going to try it for at least a few days. I have some ideas... yogurt, bread w/ 1 tbsp of peanut butter and a lil honey, apple, banana, cup of mixed veggies...

I just don't know if I have the time for this, but I think this would be good for me b/c I like to 'snack' throughout the day.

Fitness Help! foot/ankle? Injury Jun 23 2008

Hmm, thanks for all the ideas.

To be more succinct, it is the left foot, left side of the foot and along the side. Right along the edge of foot and a little to the top I would say. When I arch my whole foot down the left side/edge feels strained and hurts... a little bit of the top.

My dental hygienist told me fruit and milk do aid in tooth decay, but she would never tell anyone not to eat/drink them. She just said to make sure you floss every day and brush well.

Foods sugar???? Jun 20 2008

Oh my god... of course you can find anything on the Internet to support sugar being bad!

So you're saying you don't drink milk or eat fruit? I bet I can find multiple websites on the Internet on why that's dangerous!

And, alternatives to cow's milk seem to be alright, direct quote from one of your articles: "So, for your health's sake, why not replace cow's milk with soymilk and other alternatives?"

BTW, your dangers of fruit sugar website doesn't even work.

Oh forgot to say... if you do the 1/2 cup wheat germ I would bring the 1 cup powdered milk down to 3/4 cup or add some more peanut butter and honey. The wheat germ made it a drier consistency making it hard for them to stick while rolling. I just added a little more peanut butter and honey b/c I was a little under on those ingredients anyway.

Yes, I went to whole foods and got powdered non-fat milk! I think it's just because regular milk wouldn't produce a good consistency.

Haha, I hear you loseweight... I have almost cut out alcohol completely over the past month. I have had a total of 5 drinks and it has been such a pain in the ass telling friends that I am not drinking. They look at me like I am crazy because I was drinking practically every weekend and a good amount. Now, I am happy to be the DD! This weekend though I have a visitor coming. This will be my first time "going out to drink" since mid-May.

Hmm, well I think you can find healthy options almost anywhere. One that comes to mind is Panera. Also, PF Changs has some good options, but I think their servings are pretty large? Don't know if you're going for more casual or dining... those are two very different ends of the spectrum.

Thanks so much everyone! Yes, I def. know this would be a moderation thing and I will have to practice self control, but I think I will be good. (I plan on bringing 1-2 to work so the rest will be at home and I can't eat more even if I want to at that moment).

Coach K, I saw calorie ranges of 50-65 per ball on these so that sounds right.

I will leave the raisins out... put those in my cereal or oatmeal every morning anyway. And, I did see this as a great "family snack" or "kid snack" on a lot of recipe boards, but also found a variation of it as a protein snack on one board. I read wheat germ has a lot of protein and fiber.

That is NOT true that no sugar is good sugar. There is sugar in milk... so should you not drink milk? NO! Drink milk just in moderation. Same for fruits... def. add some veggies in, and don't eat all that fruit in one day, but sugar from fruit is okay.

Fitness Why are there never any guys on the elliptical? Jun 19 2008

Maybe it's because I go to a university gym, and all the males there are so hyped up on themselves.

Why is it I do not see women squatting weights at my gym? I guess they are so ashamed that they struggle to lift the weight.

She is clearly talking about the males at HER gym. All the males THERE, not all males.

I don't see many guys using the elliptical at my gym either, most use the treadmill.

Hmm, thanks for the suggestions. I actually don't even like cow's milk (unless it's in coffee, latte, or whatever). I drink Silk Vanilla light, but the dumb coffee shops, at least starbucks don't seem to have the light version! I will have to ask my local coffee shop what alternatives they have. I saw Oregon Chai in the coffee shop this morning too so maybe they have a sugar free one.
