Foods The Devil makes Pop Tarts! Dec 02 2009

Hi my name is Taryn and I am a pop tart addict.

I had to sadly give up my chocolate fudge, strawberry, and cinnamon sugar tarts a year and a half ago. I would definitely eat the two in the package pretty much every day. It was a sad day to leave that relationship but I have just found the Fiber One pop tarts and even though they are a litttle less in everything but more in fiber I have found it will be worth it to me. At least I get my fiber in for the day AND they taste exactly the same, it feels like a sin. they aer 180 calories so it is alittle bitter still good for a snack when I am craving a sweet tooth.

1200 cal a day is a bare minimum to just have everything function correctly. If you are working out for 30 min, I think you should eat closer to 1350-1400. It depends how hard you a pushing yourself and how many calories you are burning.

I like to think about these ....

  • A minute on the lips means wipe your mouth already
  • Do I want it, or do I need it
  • When in doubt don't
  • There will always be another meal
  •  With your diet, don't dawdle -- if you don't want to waddle!
  • Craving is only a feeling
  • What you eat in private you wear in public

I have a full page worth of quotes I have hanging in my pantry. Good reminder!

I have a question about it.

What happens when you reach your goal weight? Do you stop taking it because it is a "weight loss aid" and not a maintenance aid?

What are the chances of gaining back some of the weight after you stop taking it?

Yea, I know. But it is still frustrating. lol. I know as long as the trend is going down time and speed isn't important. It's a lifestyle change and I'm doing this for health reasons. Now if only I could quit those pesky cigarettes haha.

A few weeks ago I finally decided to start working out (I had lost about 40lbs just by my diet change) and since then I haven't been able to move the scale! I believe my scale is out to get me.lol. HOWEVER, I am losing inches so as long as I am losing something somewhere (except my mind) I am happy.

I am also having a REALLY hard time with self control over foods. That is my current battle and it is an uphill one.

what celebrities interest me the most are those who gained tons of weight but lost it all and kept it off.  like Jared Leto and Rene Zellweger.  what does that say?  shouldn't it give people who gained a lot weight from binge eating or whatever some hope that dedication, exercise, and proper nutrition would help lose those un-needed unwanted pounds.

It is different when a person is addicted to food as I am. Obviously Jared and Rene don't have that issue.

Weight Loss Silly question - weight trend Mar 25 2009

The blue line represents your actual daily weight (what you input based on your scales reading), and the green line is a moving average trendline. The trend is an average of your last 10 weights which you inputted. The more frequently you input your data (once a day as opposed to once a week or less) the more accurate the trend data will be. If the trend is going up it shows you are gaining (on average), if it is going down it shows you are losing, if it is the same you are plateauing or maintaining.

Hope that helps!

STARVATION MODE ~ LESS THAN 500 CALORIES

This is a great website dedicated to helping people manage their weight in a healthy manner.  Did you know that the bare minimum a woman should ever eat is 1200 calories a day?  This is a widespread recommendation by the medical community and eating less puts you at risk and should only be done under the supervision of your healthcare provider.

But even 1,200 calories a day may be too little and put you at risk of losing too rapidly.  The other main guideline would be to lose 1 - 2 lbs a week which is considered a safe rate of weight loss by the medical community.  To lose 1 lb a week, you would try to keep a 500 calorie deficit per day (double that for 2 lbs/week). [you have to cut back 3,500 cals to lose 1 lb; if you divide that over 1 week, that is 500 cals x 7 days = 3,500]

Here's a nice explanation of the starvation mode theory and why it's better to try for a weight loss of 1 - 2 lbs a week...

The following article will explain why calorie-count.com has chosen to promote healthy, sustainable weight managment.  As you read the article you will recognize many things that people suggest as a healthy approach.

Undereating/eating every other day is an unhealthy habit, and one that is commonly connected to an eating disorder such as EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified.) Ubdereating/eating every other day is often considered to be a precursor to more dramatic behaviors and should be considered a warning sign.

Do I Have An Eating Disorder? can help you determine if you have an eating disorder.

You need to EAT in order to lose weight in a healthful manner, with a REASONABLE deficit of 500 to 1,000 calories and not more.

I encourage you to check out the information in the library from our Eating Disorder Guide, Matthew Tiemeyer.

    I all for slim.

I think it depends on a person's current weight, because clearly, someone weighing over 200 (women) with a goal to weigh 110..well, you know..that's a long way to go and might involve drastic measures for that person.

I disagree. There is no drastic measure for women over 200lbs to get down to their goal weight. I started at 235lbs and my goal is 135lbs and I have done nothing "drastic" just slowly change my eating habits and incorporate exercising to my life. I've lost 45lbs since August doing it the healthy way.

It took time to get fat so it will take time to get slim and healthy again.

It is always nice to hear that from people because I just don't see the difference. Except today I put both hands on my waist and I was like WHOA! it IS smaller.

    CW: 194

    GW: 135

It is probably because you see yourself every day. I have that problem I have lost 46lbs and I don't think my brain has caught up with my weight loss. I still look at small clothes and think to myself there is no way it is going to fit and then.... Ta Da! IT DOES!

I also got on a plane the other day and I finally fit in the seat. Of course I doubted myself thinking well, maybe this seat is a little bigger. Nope, I have actually lost weight.

Next time try Starbuck's low-fat (or no-fat, I don't remember) cinnamon coffee cake.  VERY good, and much better for you

If you are talking about the low fat cinnamon swirl coffee cake it isn't much better for you. It is still 360 calories! I made that mistake once. The only thing I get at starbucks is the Tazo Tea and if I am hungry (which the tea helps surpress) I eat one of their fruit thingy
