congrats trashley! yay for 2 more lbs gone :)

and congrats to rollingdogchick too! 5.5 inches. SO cool :)

so.... i ate a really heavy dinner with my family last night, and didn't like the number i saw on the scale this morning Undecided so i'm opting to weigh myself again later, or maybe tomorrow.... lol

I know it's cheating, but i really am going to try to eat better this week, plus this week i'm starting exercising twice a week which i know has to help. See you tomorrow ;) hehe

congrats on the losses ladies! tod, I completely sympathize with the numbers game...My lowest number for the week ALWAYS seems to avoid fridays.... so frustrating!

so here's mine:

SW: 180
Last Week: 163.4
CW: 163.2
Goal for Next Week: 161.5

So I'm down.....0.2 lbs. That's depressing. I guess that's what I get for giving in to my chocolate cravings last night Frown

ack. I just ate like 300 calories of chocolate. sigh. Maybe I'll just be happy if I maintain in the morning Innocent

tod - I'm really looking forward to working out again. I took an 8 week weight lifting course earlier in the summer, and I can't wait to get into the gym consistently. And maybe even get my fiance's butt in gear to join me; I'd love to see him rediscover the six-pack he had all through high school *drool*

okay. so. tommorrow will be the last time I weigh-in before I go into my 2 (hopefully 3) workouts per week since I'm back in classes on monday! I'm planning on doing full-body circuit training with weights plus 20-60 minutes on cardio every Tuesday and Thursday morning, and hopefully on some Saturdays too! I've been losing without working out, but I'm really hoping that starting a serious workout schedule will help tone me up!

Okay ladies, I've been off the board all week, so I can't even begin to comment on everyone's excapades, but let me just say, YOU ARE ALL SO WONDERFUL. I love hearing about all the craziness joys frustrations weaknesses and triumphs. I can't tell you how nice it is to have you guys to come talk to!

I posted a big rant in my journal about my university's financial office.... Basically, I am so frustrated and stressed that I am about to cry Cry. I just don't have the money to cover the tuition payment they are insisting I owe right now, and the financial offices won't respond to me about why my loan hasn't disbursed yet even though I have perfect credit and there shouldn't be any hold-ups! Cry

On the upside, I've been steadying losing this week (at least a little anyways) even with my crappy eating over the weekend and having cake with my family for my nephew's 10 month 'birthday'. I'm really hoping to see something at or below 163 tomorrow.

Best of luck ladies, and Be Happy!

Health & Support Late Period - Negative Test Aug 18 2008

if you're looking for a natural way to help your period along, try making some parsley tea. Fresh parsley is best, but the dried flakes that you use for seasoning works fine as well. You only need about 1 tsp per 8 oz. of water.

I'm not sure if this will work with the hormonal changes due to Norethisterone, but drinking a few cups of this has helped me before, and with a little honey, it actually tastes rather good.

best of luck

whew. sounds like we all had a bit of a rough weekend! Between Aunt Flo visits (thank goodness I finished that on friday!), colds, allergies, and social food binges, I think we're all feeling a bit under the weather!

I got to hang out with one of my best friends on saturday, it was great :) She met up with me after I got off work, we went to one of my favorite cafe's in houston and split a caesar salad for a light lunch. Too bad I also downed a HUGE mimosa. It was worth it though! Rented chick flicks (like 27 dresses) and ate light brie cheese with crackers, a bar of hersheys symphony chocolate, a container of strawberries, and tiny tiny portions of cookie dough ice cream. Sinful? Yes. But it was a wonderful evening :)

The gym at my university opened again on saturday, so let's hope I can drag myself out of the house a couple times this week to go work out. I can't believe classes start up again in one week! Feels like I just finished my summer credits.... sigh.

164.2, compared to 165 last week.

not the exciting change i was hoping for this week, but I kinda ate whatever I wanted over saturday and sunday, so I'm not terribly surprised either hehe.

congrats on your weight loss girls! I'm impressed!

I guess upping my calories really did make a big difference for me! :) congrats to all of us ladies, we're getting there!

Weight Loss I can't seem to kick the Starbucks!! Aug 15 2008

i also work as a barista at starbucks, and I hate to say it, but we unfortunately don't currently have a truly 'skinny' option for the white mocha syrup (a skinny drink uses sugar-free syrup, skim milk, and extra foam instead of whipped cream). Jamberlee is already leaving off the whip cream which helps a lot, considering we make our cans of whip cream using 8 pumps of vanilla syrup in 500 ml of heavy whipping cream.

unless you are opting for the soy milk for lactose reasons, skim milk actually has less calories (~80 cal per 8 oz. vs. the ~120 cal per 8 oz. in the soy). the white mocha syrup is rather thick, so maybe consider getting a tall with only 2 pumps of the syrup? you could always add a packet of splenda to boost the sweetness if you really need to without adding cals.

Starbucks does try very hard to make a positive impression on the general public's lives; we are trained to try to remember our regular guests' faces, names, favorite drinks, what's going on in their lives, etc. A major corporate policy is to work towards establishing Starbucks as everyone's "third place" in their lives. First place being home, second place being work, and 'third place' being Starbucks. Doesn't make Starbucks evil, just smart in marketing ;)

welcome to all the new people! more people to keep each of us accountable ;) I'm glad that we're closing up to keep things 'smallish' and tight.

I've been haunting our board lately, not posting much. I haven't been able to really workout for almost 2 weeks and am feeling really gross :/ I managed to get out of the house and walk around the neighborhood with my sister tonight for about an hour though, so at least that is something.

good luck on all your weigh-ins tomorrow ladies! My goal is 164 for this week, since my weigh-in last friday was higher than I had hoped for (166.8).

seems like a pretty rough week for everyone. It's been too hot here to do any exercise outside, and my school's gym is STILL closed.... I hate not working out Cry  my eating has been alternating between incredibly healthy (small portion of lean chicken with TONS of carrots, broccoli, and celery) to terrible (chocolate brownies!), so let's all just hope for maintence this friday if we can't actually manage any loss.

welcome nikki! hope you can find the inspiration you need here :)

dina - stay strong. we're all rooting for you; we believe in you! You know he is NOT worth the emotional strain, he's not even worth a thought. There's someone out there will honor and protect you, not disrespect and hurt you.

hey everyone, just checking in :)

had a lazy day today, which was long over due. Found this 8 episode tv show from the UK on youtube called Supersize vs. Superskinny. It puts a very overweight and a very underweight individual in a house together to 'trade' eating styles and portions for 5 days. Very interesting to watch, I highly recommend it!

Was super excited this morning, I had quite the potty break before I weighed myself, and found that I was 164.4 after getting rid of all that waste! Hurrah for drinking tons of water and eating my fiber! I know I'll be higher tomorrow since some of that loss had to be water weight, but for now I'm still thrilled to see the southside of 165 for the first time in over a year.

Hurrah! I weighed in at 165 this morning!!! I wasn't sure if I'd even see 166, so I'm very happy :)

but I think I know why I got a bigger drop (TMI Warning!) - My stomach has been a little off since thursday, and I ended up going 4 days without anything but liquid waste when I went to the bathroom, very unusual for me Frown . In short, problem solved this morning, and obviously it WAS having an effect on my weight. Yuck.

I'm hoping for 166, but I think TTOM is hitting early, because I've been getting some really strange numbers the past few days. I can always hope fora pleasant surprise though lol.

wow wow wow! I'm so impressed by all of your guys!!! congrats on all your great weigh-ins!

I'm a day late with my weigh-in, but I came in at 166.8. Not quite the drop I would've liked... Especially since I got a 165.8 reading just 2 days ago :( BUT it's still down from my 167.4 weigh-in last week, so I'll take it :)

good luck with the weekend everyone, and WELCOME to all the newcomers!

shannon - I'm glad it worked for you! :)

whew. today was so so long. I opened at work today (I work at a Starbucks in Target) and they had me working the regular checkout lanes instead of the Starbucks counter. People are nuts! I had a guy come in an try to buy 2 gift cards (one of which was for $400!!!) with STOLEN credit cards. Luckily, the credit companies already were aware that they were stolen so the register rejected them. yikes.

I haven't been able to exercise all week... my gym is closed for construction, and it's way too hot to do anything outside. I'm not sure how i'm doing on my calories today, I couldn't find nutritional info for the sandwich I ate at work today, so I'm just guessing 500-600. Here's to hoping that the scale will be nice tomorrow, I'm looking for something in the 165-166 range.

Good luck to everyone for weigh-in day! May all your scales error to the lighter side ;)

shannon - yeah, I got these great dark chocolate slip-covers. I've taken over decorating his apartment (well, other than his mother wanting to make him curtains....Undecided). I'm kinda going for earth tones (browns, greens, blues) in his apartment, since he told me i'm not allowed to completely redecorate when I move in after the wedding hehe. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! how are plans going? Our date is set for late june of next year; i'm so excited!

There's actually a link at the top of the profile editting page that says Get Ticker. You can choose a background, a little moving thingy, etc. I really like it because it keeps me more accountable when I think about how people will be able to see if my weight is climbing back up! It's also nice because it automatically updates when you enter a new weight into your weight log. Hope that helps! :)

ladyfirelyght - yeah, i splurged and had another piece of that sinful bread again tonight. Couldn't help it, I'd been lugging my 20 lb, 9 month-old nephew around all day and I needed a treat lol.

whew. anyone know how many calories 'discussing' your concerns about your future mother-in-law burns? lol j/k (mostly). Gotta be at work at 8 am tomorrow, so time for some sleep. Talk to you all tomorrow :)

Beth - Shame you didn't get any of our rain, it was actually really nice and relaxing to hear it on the roof all day :)

ladyfirelyght - rofl! you've got some moves girl hehehe. thanks for giving me something to compare to as far as calorie intake, I'm trying to adjust to a new level now :)

lozzle - sorry about the stupid scale! It sounds like you taught it quite a lesson hehe

todeinotation - oh my.... thinking of weight loss in calories definitely puts a different face on it! I think mine would be 108,500 calories. YIKES. Although, thinking about it this way may help me not feel like things are going so darn slow!

shannon - CONGRATS!!! What a great milestone :) Hopefully I'll join you down in the 160's in a couple weeks!

so I allowed myself a little leeway yesterday, and had an old favorite for dinner - Lasagne and Garlic Bread (portion control, much?). I thought for SURE I would regret it on the scale this morning, but nope! Weighed in the same as yesterday, before even taking a potty break :) maybe there is something to this 1400 calorie thing, I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm off to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to pick out slip-covers for my fiance's couches. He gave me a budget and basically said "I know you'll pick something nice. Please?" hehe. Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day!

I never did get around to figuring out a way to exercise today :( The gym at my university is closed due to construction, so I'm left with no way to do my usual weight training/cardio routine. My fiance is moving into a new apartment complex this weekend that has an awesome fitness center though, so I'm going to make him come exercise with me so I can use it hehe ;)

Beth - hey fellow Texan! I live in Kingwood (a city/suburb northeast of Houston). How did you enjoy the wacky weather the past couple days?

whew. love my family, but they sure know how to sabotage my calorie goals (unintentionally). I think I managed to still stay a few hundred cals under my burn meter, so I should be okay today, though not as good as I had hoped.

The Lounge Drinking Problem Aug 05 2008
22:35 (UTC)
10

my fiance is kinda the same way, only we've come to an understanding. His ex-girlfriend almost died from alcohol poisoning, and would go out drinking with all of her 'guy friends' and ended up cheating on him as part of that. Furthermore, his father used to down a 6 pack of beer every night... so his experience with alcohol has always been very negative.

I drink very infrequently, but he and I did have to sit down and come to an agreement about my drinking habits. Basically, I don't drink unless he is present with me, and even then only 1 or 2 drinks (not that I would drink more anyways). This way, I get to have my drink of choice when out to dinner with friends, and he doesn't ever have to worry about me drinking without him or getting falling down drunk. I doubt he'll ever drink, but I certainly don't mind that he doesn't. Everyone is happy :)

it's hurricane season here so my whole family is hanging out at my house - not good for my calories! so no worries about me staying too low today lol. I'll just have to choose well when dinner rolls around tonight. Thanks for all the feedback though, I'll make 1400 my goal for this week.

lozzle - wtg on the 40 minutes in the rain. I'm still trying to figure out what i can do for some exercise today. No motivation with all this drizzly weather lol

hey all, is it too late for me to jump in? I'm looking to lose 30ish lbs and would love to have some buddies to do it with!

here's my stats:

21, Female
5'6", Medium Frame
SW: 180
CW: 167
GW: 135

i had been trying to keep my cals around 1250, but after doing some more research, I think this may be too low for me, and too hard to keep up! So I'm thinking I need to be aiming for more like 1400-1500?

Friday weigh-ins sound good, anything thing else I should know about joining the group?

Weight Loss 20lbs down- but no one has noticed!! Aug 05 2008

the 'magic number' i keep seeing people post for when outsiders start noticing your weight loss is when you reach 10% of your initial weight. So for example, if your starting weight is 210, people typically start noticing when you've lost about 21 pounds. Or if you started at 180, people notice around 18 pounds down.

I don't know for sure if that is true for everyone, but it seems like a good rule of thumb.

congrats on your progress so far! :)

hi everyone :)

I'm glad to finally find some 20 year-old girls getting together on here! here's my stats:

21, Female
5'6", medium frame
start weight: 180 (stupid southern cooking.)
current weight: 167
goal weight: 135 (give or take, I dunno what I'll even look like at that number!)

maybe we could start some weekly weigh-ins or something to keep us all accountable? what do you all think?
