| Foods | Too many veggies?? | Aug 27 2008 03:48 (UTC) |

i could be wrong, but i've always considered veggies an 'eat-all-ya-want' food! as long as you aren't slathering on cheese/ranch/or some other high-calorie dressing in massive quantities, it's fine [not saying you CAN'T have those, just watch the portions!] they're low calorie, so it's a guiltfree mindless-munch for me. i've been known to eat a whole head of cauliflower in one sitting lol! as long as you are still eating the other essentials, i'd say it's okay. if you were eating JUST veggies, nothing else, that wouldn't be good for you- you're missing out on vitamins & nutrients that vegetables don't offer. that's the whole point of the 'balanced diet!' if i'm wrong, i hope someone corrects me because i'd need enlightening as well! |

i've heard that, if you're looking to get a buzz for the least calories, vodka & sugar free red bull is one of your best bets...something about energy drinks makes you get a buzz faster, from what i've read. one bartender also told me that vodka would be the best thing to drink if you're watching calories...but it's best to not drink if you're trying to lose weight. it's just a lot easier that way, it seems. |

favorite: the area below my navel but above the girly bits...i've done so much core work that it's rock hard under the annoying remnants of belly fat. least favorite: my thighs where they meet my butt. still has that fat & it makes it looks like my butt is flatter than it rly is- NO DEFINITION D; |

i do something almost exactly like that, except my 'friend' is an imaginary bettie page hahahhaha. bettie is part of my motivation, i want a body like hers so she's always there telling me to do ALL of my exercising/inspires me to try more diverse or 'strange' health foods. & it's not weird at all. everyone has their own little twists to help them achieve their goals! some are just more creative than others. you're just exercising your imagination along with your body |

| Health & Support | Binge eating, obsession, and driving yourself crazy. | Jul 12 2008 03:50 (UTC) |

i have a problem with binging & what i've tried to do is make myself atleast binge on healthier, lower-cal things, like cauliflower or salad, or if you need something sweet, try fruits! i favor oranges, since i have to take the time first to peel it :P you could even try slicing strawberries/bananas/apples or whatever, that way you don't, say, eat a whole strawberry in 2 bites or less, then you'll atleast eat less & it takes longer that way. another thing i do when i feel like i might binge is exercise! i leave the house, maybe take a 10 minute walk or something so i can think about whether or not i REALLY want that food |

i had my boyfriend read this: he says that if he stood by you the whole night, he's obviously interested, if he exchanged numbers with you, it's a yes & guys don't hate it when girls call them, they rather like it :] he's probably thinking the same thing right now, 'should i call her or should i wait for her to call me???' both my boyfriend & i say do it to it, call him!! what have you got to lose? good luck :D |

| Calorie Count | what's with the burn meter? | Jun 28 2008 05:00 (UTC) |

i think the burn meter already factors in calories burned in normal expenditure, such as sleeping, using the toilet, driving, sitting at a desk, etc. i don't know why they're available for logging, but i don't log things like that anyways, i don't want to overestimate the amount i've burned. i could totally be wrong...now i'm curious! http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/217 08.html http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/986 24.html there's a few forums where it's been discussed somewhat :] |

| The Lounge | annoying parents! help! | Jun 21 2008 05:58 (UTC) |
2 |
=[ its terrible that your parents are acting like that. my grandmother used to say hurtful things about my weight also, telling me at 135 that i was fat, which led to nothing but me binging from the hurt feelings. but she was also very overweight. some parents try to do what they feel is best, maybe they feel their comments will help but in reality, they're just damaging. my aunt & uncle tried to keep my twin cousins from ever consuming sweets or junk of any sorts, which in turn made them binge on junk once they got it. parenting is difficult :\ i suppose all you can really do is try to ignore their comments, unless you think they'd listen your feelings on the matter [i don't know how your parents are/if they're stubborn or hardheaded] but if you think they would listen, let them know that you need POSITIVE criticism/suggestions-not the sort that will tear you down in such a way. those sorts of comments will only make you feel bad about your body & that just depletes motivation. like MKEYS said, some parents don't realize the damage they're doing...if you feel that talking to them won't do good, then all you can do is ignore & vent. just remember: do what makes YOU happy. YOU are you, not your sister, not your mom, not your dad. you only have one life & should live it for happiness! let their comments go in one ear, out the other. ask them if they've ever considered whether or not their comments do good or may turn you to emotional eating. maybe they haven't thought everything through before flapping their gums, bah |

| Motivation | I can't do this... | Jun 13 2008 06:41 (UTC) |

i often eat late, but it's lower cal/low fat things like progresso light soups or less than 2 cups of salad with fat free dressing [ranch is my favorite, i can't give it up] i've even had a pb&j sammich or 2 less than two hours before falling asleep...but i almost always stay under my calorie limit & even with the eating late, i lose weight. it's weird, i can't say if that works for everyone. i would suggest not eating a huge breakfast & trying to distribute your calories across the day in such a manner than if you have 200 calories or so before bed, it won't affect you much...drinking more water helps but also, if you like diet sodas, then the carbonation will help you feel a little bit fuller. i don't particularly like colas, diet or not, but those little enviga green tea energy drinks help curb my hunger & there's only 5 calories in the whole can |

| Weight Loss | My New Goal | Jun 10 2008 20:58 (UTC) |

Grrrl, take it from someone who tried that same trick once- I lost water weight by restricting calories, & not even that much then gained it back very quickly. Your body will go into starvation mode & hold on to every calorie for dear life, you won't lose fat-weight, & if you do see the scale change on that diet, it's water weight like i said & it will be bake quicker than it left...maybe even with more weight than before! Your body needs to have a certain amount of calories to just work while you're awake, even without exercise...denying your body those calories long-term can result in muscle deterioration, damage to organs [your heart is a muscle...don't want to damage that!] Eat some fruit, it's a good suggestion, not only will you be getting the extra vitamins & nutrients that you wouldn't get from tato chips, you're also getting 'good' guilt free calories, hah. I wish we really could just simply restrict & lose...I only have 10lbs left & I just want them to diiiiiiiiieeee! lol

i got the munchies & went to jack in the box, had 8 tacos with a small strawberry shake [whipped cream & cherry included], 16 taco sauces & 3 buttermilk house dipping sauces...calculated that all up on the JITB site & got 2433 calories, 126 gfat, and right after i fell asleep...& that was the LAST thing i'd eaten that day...hahahah it was delicious though, but i hurt afterwards |

ohh, i'd say for every 4 or 5 days of behaving, i get into the mischief of peanut butter & such sweets. i made brownies for my boyfriend last friday & have had two a day since then...but still managed to stay under my calorie limit all but one day, hooray! it's good to have a 'bad'' day every once in awhile, i think, because if i don't, then when no one is looking i'll binge. |

ohh, you sound like me all over the place...i have no one else dieting with me, no one's really supporting me in my diet plan except my boyfriend...but he presents more of a problem than he knows by keeping fatty foods around me :[ He is tall & ultra thin, so he doesn't have to watch his intake & eats whatever he wants in huge portions [like cheese dip & chips- my kryptonite] while i munch on salads, fruits & veggies :P so that makes it hard, i'm tempted to eat whatever he's eating, but here's a trick i use to keep me on track: i find pictures of my goal size [clippings out of magazines, usually!] & i have always have one taped to my full length mirror & another on the fridge door, that way when i have those foods in hand that will destroy all of my efforts, i'm reminded of what i'm striving for & it makes it just a little bit easier to stick to my food plan :] i also have one of my idols [bettie page] as my computer background, since i have a nasty habit of munching on all types of sweets & junk food mindlessly when i'm online...looking at the figure i want keeps me from stumbling :P i would also recommend trying to fit a little yoga session in there between waking up & going to work: it's very relaxing, it may be hard to get yourself going when you first wake up, but wait 10 minutes, then do atleast 15 minutes of yoga & you will feel a difference...it will get your metabolism going, give you a little more energy & the day will seem less stressy! |
