Real hoodia is rare. Chances are the pills have a minuscule amount in them if any. |

You're right: exercise is overrated. It's much better to grow old and weak before your time, experience the wonders of osteoporosis, fall and break your hip because you don't have the muscle or bone mass to sustain an injury when the cells that regulate balance in your inner ear die off, etc.... Oh, and the best part is, you get to look larger than you otherwise would because fat is not as dense as muscle.
What is the point of exercise, anyway?
For ppl w/ low self esteem and no brain. |

I am the laziest person on the planet and went from 130ish to 100ish lbs from February to December by eating 1500 cals a day, no exercise (though I did do one 5K in October). In fact, I stopped calorie counting in mid-September and lost another 3 lbs without even trying to December. However the lack of exercise was a bad idea as I am flabby as all hell and actualyl have gained 5+ lbs since December. So bottom line is working out is best.

I have a lot of doubts about NutriSystem: a), their food is not nearly as appetizing as it looks on TV (I've know several people using it), b) it's not a permanent diet - as soon as you go off it, you put the weight back on because you go back to your old eating habits, and c) it teaches you that you can eat hamburgers, lasagna, etc. and still be healthy/losing weight. Which is a very bad habit to get into.
There is nothing wrong w/ hamburgers and lasagna. There is a huge difference btn fast food and food made right. |

My husband just moved out so I'm newly cooking for one as well. I don't like to freeze pre-made food but I do buy larger amounts of meats and breads that I keep in the freezer.
The only thing I really prepare ahead of time are beans. I simmer beans with either salsa or canned tomatoes with green chiles. I make about 4-5 servings and put it in tupperware and keep in the fridge. I eat beans almost everyday. Sometimes I eat them with rice, the other day I made an impromptu chili by mixing ground beef in.
I keep fresh veggies in the fridge and also frozen veggies (corn, peas) and frozen fruit for smoothies. I keep frozen chicken breasts (uncooked) and the occasional box of Quorn (fake chicken) and frozen fries (from the health food section).

So, for the first time in my life, I've bought "the hot bikini"!
Honestly, I'm gonna do everything in this thing. It's been a really long road getting to this point (I've lost 41 pounds), but it's been so worth it!
What's been your "worth it" moments? My real one was when I realized how physically strong I've become, and how much my endurance has improved. The bikini is just vain (but it does feel good!).
Thanks to everyone on here for the support, advice, suggestions etc!
I guess I'll go back to work now (wishing I could wear it here! :) ).
I scored w/ this hot lifeguard.

Mysticjbryd, ADULT Stem cell research is already helping people. There are 70+ therapies available using cells derived from ADULT stem cells that is showing tremendous progress. It's just Embryonic stem cell research (which has given no indication of ever helping anyone) that many people have moral issues with. Scientifically it's not a good treatment. they cause tumors to grow, and they are not making progress with that research, they don't help, its a waste of money that could be put into adult or even cord blood stem cell treatments.
And abortions don't help anyone. Talk to someone who had an abortion 10 years ago, and they will likely say that they regret their abortion. Abortions can cause sterility, and is linked to breast cancer, they can also lead to severe mental, relationship, and social issues as well.
Of course these things are available now. But do you have any idea how long it took? So much religious red tape it was ridiculous. We should be miles ahead of where we are right now. |

unless something changed dramatically overnight, abortions are still legal and the ECP (emergency contraceptive pill) is widely available. and stem cell research is progressing nicely. not that it's likely to prevent crack addiction.
Not like they should be progressing. There is a lot of religious red tape.
Also there is the religion trying to get into school dilemma.

It occurs both ways. Often the people doing the exploiting don't actually believe in the religious tool they're using, but still put on a good show, so it's easy to get them mixed up.
Yah thats why we cant have abortions, or the day after pill, or things like stem cell research that would actually help real ppl.
Who cares if our planet is grossly overpopulated? We dont need those things, god will take care of it. /sarcasm Are these ppl fking serious?
We dont need stem cell research, I mean why try to save the geniuses and elite of our country when we can have another crack addicted toddler running around?

Um, "you" have "bible pushers"? This is a public forum, and a person inquired about how "God" may have helped other believers with their weight loss. Who's pushing anything on you? Nobody forced you to click on the thread.
And I didn't say that religion didn't play a role in Iraq. That you seem to see no difference between a government's willingness to exploit religion versus individual Christians on a message board expressing their faith only highlights your ignorance.

I like how every religion thinks its god is the real one and every1 else needs to convert or goto hell. This is the primary reason countless wars have been fought in the past. It is still the reason we goto war.
First of all, not every religion believes others need to convert or they will go to hell - try talking to a Bhuddist or a Shintoist sometime. And while I agree that many wars have been fought over religion and conversion, to say that it's still the reason we go to war is overly simplistic. Despite the professions of W and saying he was "called by God", and the obvious influences of religion, we're in Iraq for many more reasons that have nothing to do with it.
Second of all - why do you feel the need to post something like this here? This is not a thread for arguing against or for religion, and while I do admit getting off track earlier myself, at least I was trying to be respectful.

If god does exist, I'm sure she has more important things to worry about than helping people lose weight.
At least in terms of what Christians believe, God cares deeply about us and tells us to cast all our worries onto Him. He wants to hear all of our concerns, even the small things. His love for us is beyond our wildest imaginations-- it surpasses any love on earth we will ever know, even the kind of amazing love we get from parents.
And well, even if you don't believe it, if you think about the concept and idea behind the kind of love Christians believe in, it's astounding and incredibly life-changing. Can you imagine, how different would life be (including tackling every day problems like weight loss) knowing and loving your creator and having your creator love you enough to be there with you and guide you through all of your life? It's kind of mind blowing I think.
Sure is a hell of a lot of suffering for him to care so damn much,

Hi all,
I just bought a scale from Bed Bath and Beyond and I thought it was a good one since I paid almost 70.00 for it. Each time I get on it the numbers change about 2-3 pounds. not each day but 30 seconds later the numbers change. Then I go to the gym and the scale there says something different, So I have really no idea what is my accurate weight. Does anyone know of a good scale that doesn't change minute to minute and isn't hundreds of dollars?
Thanks so much!!!
Sounds like your scale doesnt work. You might want to try to calibrate it. Try to use a weight, if you dont have one then use a 5lb bag of sugar or something.
Dont use multiple scales. Each scale has a slight error in it.

My family has been in the restaurant business for many years.I don't think most people realize that some major chains DO NOT make their calorie counts available to the public for several reasons,One is -they are not exact.Think about it-if an employee is putting together a dish-most things are prepackaged and exact-like a burger patty at a fast food restaurant-so all patties are uniform in weight and therfore calories and fat.But when the employee is putting together a dish and it calls for a tbsp of mayo. There is a difference in a level tbsp and a HEAPING tbsp.Any good restaurant owner or manager can tell you from a profit and loss aspect, that this is an issue they always have to keep an eye on.Well, from a consumers standpoint,if you are counting calories or trying to eat healthy,it's something to think about.I personally,if I'm trying to lose weight, figure there is going to be a little fluctuation, and you just do your best when trying to order heathfully, and just figure on 15 more minutes of cardio that day, when you haven't actually made the meal or dish yourself. As far as that story of the deep fried burger, those kind of things do happen, and any one in the restaurant business for any length of time can probably tell you stories, but honestly, they are few and far between. There is one common sense thing that a lot of people don't think about-NEVER,NEVER,NEVER be rude to someone who is serving you something you will consume(that doesn't include getting something recooked etc.If you are kind,it really is not a problem for most restaurant employees-I'm talking about people who are rude to the employee, belittle them etc,Not too smart huh???but that's another subject.
Yah this is the truth. A mom and pop store cant really give you a calorie count, and anything from a fast food place should be taken w/ consideration to error.
I used to work at mcdonalds and let me tell you, some ppl got some loogie burgers, skoal cokes, cigarette ash sweet tea, and even an "EXTRA" special secret sauce big macs.
