Babies have tiny stomachs, but need to gain weight in order to grow. So they eat small meals high in calories. Without being stuffed by the parent. If you take that same approach to eating, you should feel less stuffed, more comfortable. I wouldn't drink that many shakes. There is this foodie test that shows that soups and the like keeps a person fuller for longer. You'd be amazed to find how many calories little things like nuts added to stir fry dishes or salads, cream instead of skimmed milk to mashed potatoes, or pancette pan fried and added to a pasta dish can add to your daily total.
I wish you all the best. Gaining weight for someone recovering from anorexia seems just as hard as losing weight is for a morbidly obese compulsive overeater like me.

1.) What contributed to your regaining the weight? A. Food. And thinking that i managed to lose weight once, i could do it again, so an extra <insert favourite food stuffs> now and again (and again...and again...and again) won't hurt. 2.) Now that you are back on track, what will you do to make sure you stay there? A. NO idea. I have only just started to get back on track. We'll see how it goes. |

My simple bolognese sauce is a tin of chopped tomatoes, 2 cloves of garlic, and a small handfull of basil leaves. In a jug, stick the hand blender in it and blend till smooth. Then cook for 5 minutes to reduce and thicken slightly. Takes all of 6 minutes in total, so done by the time the pasta is finished. And before you cook it you can freeze what you don't need for the next time. For a slightly richer flavour i roast tomatoes, red onion, and red pepper with 8 cloves of garlic. Take the skins off after roasting, blend and add seasoning to taste.

| Vegetarian | Vegetarians are feisty beasts! | Mar 08 2009 09:35 (UTC) |

I'm not a vegetarian, so i hope i'm allowed to reply!? Doesn't it make a difference in what the reason for becoming a vegetarian/vegan is? If someone does it for health reasons such as bad gut or acne, they might be less feisty in sending out the No Meat message than someone who does it for environmentally reasons. Just my thought on it. Someone who is restricted by their own body might be less inclined to force their believes on someone else. They might not care what type of veg someone is. |

I gained 8lbs this week. I am really not in a good place. Haven't been for a while. The weight loss (or rather lack of it) is adding to my depression. I am taking a step back for a month or so.

As a seasoned omnivore it really doesn't bother me what vegetarians call a burger or what went in the burger. If it bothered me i wouldn't be an omnivore. ;)

The one that tickles me pink for some reason is the DIY Gastric band. I haven't investigated this yet, but i am blooming curious how to fit a gastric band yourself, unless they either mean swallow a rubber band and hope for the best, or wear high-waisted trousers with very tight belts.

| Motivation | Down over 100 pounds! New after photo! | Feb 25 2009 09:58 (UTC) |

Oh wow, that's fantastic! I am struggling to get to the 100lbs mark myself. I started in 2007 at 355lbs, had a baby in 2008, and am 273 at the moment. I had hoped to have reached the 1st 100lbs milestone on January 1st this year, but i am suffering from a mental block. combined with finance-related stress issues. Eating is my coping mechanism, and i am not coping very well! So i am more than a little envious, but totally determined to get to the 100lbs mark myself soon.
Well done!!! |

Dutch living in the UK (South Wales) I use the Tesco/Asda generic brands and pick the higher calorie ones if i can't find the exact ones. Fresh food is the same everywhere, so that's easy. Branded stuff usually have their own company website with nutritional value so i use those and add it to the food log via the form. Works for me! |

| The Lounge | Anyone here a photographer ? | Feb 05 2009 12:44 (UTC) |

Start with the rule of thirds, so don't place your main object dead-centre, but in the first 2/3 of the frame, or the last, depending on what is on either side of the object. Experiment with the camera's controls, don't just rely on the auto-settings. Cut different size frames out of cardboard and hold them up and move them about to see what would work. Instead of using the standard perspective (standing up, looking dead ahead), lie down or try to get an angle from above the object. Take a picture of an object but focus on a specific part rather than the whole thing. Such as the stamen of a pretty flower or the paws of a cat, or the eyes of a bird. Use an every day object such as a tooth brush and focus on the bristles of the ridges. Have fun. All photographers started without knowledge. And pretty much all of them had to train their Eye. Be sure to show us some results! |

I was in hospital for 2 weeks in October with Pancreatitis, also on a saline/dextrose drip. I lost 15 lbs those 2 weeks, and another 10lbs the week i got home. Mostly muscle. If you can, move your legs to avoid joint aches. And just relax and get better.

| Health & Support | HELP...in the middle of a binge-nooo | Feb 02 2009 10:14 (UTC) |
|
I'm probably a little late in the game here, but if one of the reasons you feel like bingeing is the lack of attention from your man....Pounce the guy and DEMAND attention. Burn off some calories with a good s*x session, or drag him into the shower with you. Does he know your struggle with food at the moment? You need his help, not a cold shoulder. Don't think about how much you want to binge. Think about what you will wear to work tomorrow, or what you will do for exersize, or when you will go visit your family or friends. Anything fun, except food. You can do this! |

Original Post by thejabronisayz: When i plug my (considerable) weight into that, and the distance or speed/duration, i get something like 900 calories burned. That's 268lbs, 3.1mph for 60 minutes. Is that right? Because on here that gives me something like 400 or less, and on the actual treadmill it gives me barely 200. Not sure which to believe now. |

I dropped another 3.5lbs this week. I am very happy! So now i weigh 268lbs. I am not getting weighed next week, so my next weight will be on the 13th. Unfortunately i pulled a muscle in my right buttock last night, so the treadmill is off the planner for a few days till i can walk properly again.

It's a mental thing more than anything else. We all know the numbers don't matter as long as you feel good and the weight is still coming off. But that doesn't change the fact that mentally you feel heavier than you actually are. I feel fat on the days i haven't lost weight. And i feel less fat on the days i have lost weight. Even if the difference is marginal. Stick with it, and you'll get there. *hug* |

It doesn't always have to be fat that is the issue. And too little fat can cause stones as the cholesterol will crystallize in the gallbladder. Light meals, nothing spicy, not too difficult to digest and in small quantities. I had my gallbladder out last december after a very nasty attack that resulted in jaundice, pancreatitis, and splenomegaly. Very painful, and incredibly scary. Good luck!!

Ahaha, Pam! I am liking the idea of Popcorn as a diet responsible food! :D I think i buggered up my calf muscles of my left leg on the treadmill last night. It feels all stiff and hurty. I am going on a long walk with my 6-year old son, so i hope my leg will loosen up. We promised him a McDonald's lunch today, so i pre-logged all my calories for the day and with the salad i am planning on having i am still well over 100 cals UNDER my daily budget. Marvellous. It'll be a salad kind of day as i am making a big ranch salad for dinner tonight, with carrots, beet root, cucumber, tomato, feta cheese, almonds, rice vinegar, and ranch dressing. And some chicken fillets on the side. Yum! If my leg holds out i might even throw another 45 minutes at the treadmill tonight. Losing that 3.5lbs has given me a decent chunk of motivation to keep going. Hopefully the scales will show another decent loss.
Have a happy weekend all!! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | How can I get pregnant if Im overweight? | Jan 24 2009 09:36 (UTC) |
7 |
In 2005 i was 355lbs, and we were trying for a baby. I too did not have my period for well over 3 months, and i was actually told (after numerous tests) that i was pre-menopausal. I was devastated. So instead of trying to get pregnant i focussed on losing weight. In May 2007 i started WW and CC, and by August i had lost 43lbs. And then i got pregnant. It was the best thing ever, not to mention a huge surprise! Maybe you do need to lose weight. Maybe you do need to be checked for PCOS or hormone problems. But meanwhile you could continue your healthier life style and try to lose some weight.
I wish you all the best!! |

Topeze - It's mainly because the days get shorter and it's cold and i want comfort. MmmmMMmm...Hot Chocolate...!!
I didn't think 5.5km/ph was that fast. It's only just under 3,5mile ph. Maybe i set my expectations to high for myself. Or maybe i am as fast as you guys say i am! I did 45 minutes last night, plus 5 minutes for t he warm up and cool down. So 50 minutes in total. My legs told me i did well...Ahaha Another 50 minutes tonight. And again on Thursday. Hopefully the scales at the doctor's will look kindly upon me on Friday!! |

Went from 280 to 274 to 275 the past 3 weeks. *sigh* I have started doing 45 minutes on the treadmill (walking @5.5km/ph because i can't run to save my life!) which i will increase to 60 minutes from next monday, and once i do an hour comfortably i will increase the speed by 1km/ph every week. I have to do this slowly because otherwise i get bored or fed up and give up. Food-wise i just have to make it to Spring without doing too mnuch damage. I can't seem to stick to healthy food in Winter. Spring/Summer/Autumn are the best seasons for me to lose weight. I get weighed every Friday, so i will check back in on the 30th with my final number for this month. I had hoped to be at 260 but i'll settle for 265/270. We'll see... |
