Fitness Ladies, Protein Shakes? Aug 30 2008

I have protein shakes also for the protein - i find if i'm low on my protein for the day i'll have it to boost the figure a bit.

I recenty had a debate with a (male) friend of mine who says i shouldn't be drinking them unless i'm aiming for big muscles (!), and that by drinking them it will cause my weight loss 2 stop. but it hasn't i've still been losing the same as i was before i started drinking them !! I like my chocolate shake with 200ml of skim milk =)

I do about 1 hour of cardio 4-6 times a week and i drink lots of water, and have been for the last 15 weeks, however not seen any improvements in my belly fat. i think i have similar measurements to you starbuck, last time i measured around my bbutton i was about 33.5 inches..and would do anything to reduce that. i like to wear nice fitted tops but this belly fat makes me luk terrible :(

Thanks! My goal is long term weight loss yeah but i want to just drop these approx 6lbs before i move away in september, and then once i'm there maybe i could pick up the weight training then and carry on with my weight loss further, the 6 lbs is not my final goal, just a sub goal if you like.

I know how important weight lifting is important but i just had the thought that just cardio would help me for the nxt few weeks then once i've joined a new gym i will start up again with cardio plus weights.

Yep i like running, treadmill is my fav at the gym. usually do interval training on there. thanks for the responses so far :)

Weight Loss Losing 2lbs a week...Why is it so hard? Aug 13 2008

Thanks for all your replies.. I do eat over 1000 a day definatly, on average about 1400 a day and that still leaves me with a high deficit. i burn quite a lot as i'm at work a lot more lately doing extra shifts so im more active than if i was at home. and plus the gym it all adds up.

i am trying to up my protein lately and im watching my carbs trying to lower them, with the analysis tool on here ive realised i take in quite a lot of carbs ..

thanks again for the replies, if there is anyone who has lost or is losing 2lbs a week consistantly and knows of any tips all will be apreciated thankyou!!! :)

Fitness H.I.I.T. success stories, tips or hints? Aug 01 2008

Ive tried doing HIIT on a bike and an elliptical before and i find i don't work myself as hard, i tend to want to give up and on these machines, i end up going slower and not working myself...

however i have tried this on a treadmill and because of the speed its going at I work myself 110+% - i run because i have to, if i dont i think im in a bit of trouble!!  so is it really that bad to use the treadmilll or should i try and use some other way of doing it...?

The Lounge which is your true weight: morning or mid-day? Aug 01 2008

Is it true you shouldn't weigh yourself after you work out aswell? I weigh myself every day but don't record my weight, i only do this on sundays to see if i've lost anything for the week. I always do it using the gym scales that calculates your height weight body fat etc. and i do this every sunday at 6pm after i've worked out for an hour - should i be doing it before i work out? or even stil change it completely to a day where i can record my weight in the mornings before any food?

I bought my F4 off ebay too, got a good price for it... I use it at the gym 4-6 times a week, for the last 6 weeks - and I havn't once yet had any problems with interference... come to think about it i've never actually seen anyone at my gym with a HRM!

It's really useful to see how many calories are actualy burnt compared to what the machines tell you and I've found its more accurate than what CC's log tells me i burn too. Its so motiviating to see the number increase as you work out :)

I hadn't noticed it much before but I think thats just happened to me recently, i weighed in last week and i didn't lose a single lb, but for the previous 2 weeks i lost 2 lbs each week...

(so i was very disapointed when i didn't lose anything after the great 2 weeks i had!)

hmm..well over here its just about 25-28 C rite now, which is nowhere near what we usualy get! and i was told weight may be higher because the body is holding onto more water for hydration..but not sure if this is true..which is why i've turned to the wonderful CC to see if anyone can help! :)

Weight Loss Question about Sedentary setting and adding exercise/activities-SO confused!! Jul 28 2008
20:37 (UTC)

Oh i see, the thing with me is that I'm fairly sedentary, and my work days change weekly so somtimes i work only 2 days per week, other weeks 5-7 days, so I thought while at work I must be burning higher than what the CC sedentary level was showing me.

I've never tried to see what my HRM says i burn during a whole day though... Hope you figure something out! =)

What did you use the monitor for? What i've been doing for the last 2 days is wear my HRM to work (both days i did 6 hours) and whatever it said i burnt in that time, I minus that from what I would usualy burn if i was sitting doing nothing (which is what I would do at home if I wasn't at home :) )

It didn't work out 2 be much, but it was around 250 cals more than what I would do if i wasn't at work, so i guess it all adds up !
This is how its been working for me anyway! :)

Fitness Activity Level Setting???? Jul 28 2008

You could set yourself to sedentary then log all the workouts on top of that using the CC activity log.. Thats what i do :)

Oh but i don't think its recomended to use it for that long each day, i just used it to give myself an idea of what i am burning at work. hope this helps !

thanks! i might do that it sounds like a good idea... i'm going to use my hrm at work for the next few days then see roughly what i burn in an hour, then eventualy not wear it - i don't want to be wearing it all the time! sometimes it's busy so i'm on the go but sometimes its not so busy so doing less!

:)

Thanks for the reply!! So if I give it a few days then decide to change my setting to 'light activity' because I am working quite a bit more in the next week, would it still be okay to log my gym workouts on  top of that? (At the gym i burn btween 500 to 800 calories according to my HRM and I go 5 times a week)

So logging this gym on top of light activity wouldn't be overestimating my total burn would it? thanks again!!
