Do you like cottage cheese? It is pretty much pure protein. Personally I'm sick of the stuff.

I'm a similar build to you, height and weight wise. I really found weight training helped me lose the flab while staying in a healthy BMI range.

Good luck!

Hello

Its OK. I found it a bit of a rant to be honest. And yes it is promoting veganism, which is OK if that's what you want to do. Personally i think I would be skinny if I was a vegan. But I would also be bored.

And yeah what's with the handcuffs.

Hey Tink,

I want to come round your house for dinner!

I'm no expert but I hit a plateaux a while back and actually what I did was give up... I ate normally for a couple of weeks then feeling bad got back on the scales only to discover I hadn't gained any weight at all. Then I got back on the horse and the weight started to come off again!

I didn't actually mean to do it this way, but it worked! Good luck

I love this post. Gin and tonic does indeed taste like pine trees.

Wine is so delicious isn't it?

Try vodka with diet coke, or with slimline tonic. OJ and cranberry juice are sugary so I'd give them a miss. Personally.

You can still lose weight and enjoy the odd raz :)

Weight Loss I want to quit drinking... Apr 17 2009

Hello

I can't comment on quitting drinking completely because I would never do that, that's crazy talk. But I have cut down a lot on the amount I drink over the last year.

The only thing I have to say is that once you break the habit, it is actually really easy. I don't even think about alchohol in the evening and only drink if I am going out socialising.

I still probably drink too much occasionally, but it is sooo much easier to stick to a healthy diet and exercise plan when you aren't drinking as much.

Good luck

Weight Loss Anybody ever gone the No Sugar route? Oct 16 2008

Hello,

It does work but it sucks! Not only is sugary food calorie dense, but it causes an insulin surge which causes fat to be laid down. I tried cuttting sugar out totally, sure I lost weight but I also felt a life without chocolate is not really a life at all. Now I add sweets into my calorie allowance.

If you have an underactive thyroid, you can't blame yourself for weight gain! The medication will help and that in turn should motivate you to carry on

As for depo, personally, I didn't gain weight with it.

We all leap off the wagon, I'm just crawling back on to it myself. I think it is best not to give yourself a hard time and start again.

Best of luck and big hugs!

Really know how you feel as have had problems with injury myself. You need to rest though. Can you walk? If you can walk without toomuch pain, get yourself out for a couple of hours. Really good exercise.

If it doesn't clear up in a couple of days, get it checked out. But you really wont be helping yourself by working out on an injury.

Feel better soon!

Health & Support Extreme lows and how to pull yourself out of them. Oct 08 2008

Hey, I'm in the UK as well, but went private cause NHS counselling was rubbish!

I guess you have probably gone down the prozac route. It did help me, but do beware, later on in life I was refused mortgage insurance because of depression! There is still a huge stigma and shedload of ignorance attached to depression, it is lumped in with all mental illnessess. Another reason I went private! Plus for me treating the cause rather than the symptoms helped.

The thing is depression does often pass, and if you recognise it as depression you are doing well. Be nice to yourself and surround yourself with fun people. Wish I could give more profound advice but having been there, I know nothing much helps.

Chin up lass!

Hello,

Can I be incredibly trite and say I am motivating myself? *changes username to "clichewhisperer"*

Actually I am probably motivated by my mum in all the wrong ways. She has been fighting her weight all her life, and I just didn't want to turn out that way.

Good thread by the way!

olivia - hope the post breakup time is OK for you. Been there, done it, bought a selection of Tshirts (most of which say "This sucks").

Hi Lala

Probably a bit boring but have you tried counselling? It worked for me, I felt bad burdening my friends, but I also felt guilty about feeling sad cause tehre are so many people in the world worse off than me. But if I was PAYING someone to listen, they had to!

Best money I ever spent

Health & Support armpits sweat & odor Oct 07 2008

Hey,

I had a similar problem. After a bit of googling I came to the conclusion that the problem was bacterial. Grim I know. But the bacteria were living in my polyester clothes and even washing didn't get rid of them. I would put on a clean sweater and within 20 mins it would smell.

Anyway. I discovered that yuo can buy HibiScrub from chemists. It is used in hospitals as a hand wash, and the active incrediant in it kills armpit stink. Soak your clothes in it, slightly diluted, and then wash them normally. I promise 100% this really works!

Health & Support Torn ligament problems - advice please Oct 07 2008
13:02 (UTC)

Hey,

I spend a lot of time injured so I know how frustrating this can be. I've had a serious back injury in the past and a really stubborn strain in my left leg that has been going on for 9 months!

The only advice I can give is if whatever treatment you are having isn't working, change it. Try knew chiropractors, physios, osteopaths, whatever. Everyone is different, it took me 6 years to find the osteo who finally fixed my back.

I think nutrition can really help too, some foods are anti-inflammatory like oily fish, green tea, red wine (yay!), and aubergine. These may or may not make a significant difference, but if you are like me you will want to give everything a go just in case.

Unfortunately, rest is also good for torn ligaments, though very boring.

Hope you feel better soon

Hi all,

I was a BAD girl this weekend. Lots of wine and roast beef. Still back on the horse today. Good news is that a stubborn hamstring injury is starting to heal (its been 9 months!) so I should be able to get off my fat @rse and start running again.

As I was scanning through the above posts, I note a few people have the same problem I do. Not telling other people about dieting. I don't want to be a weightloss bore. Plus the people that do know give me "you've done so well, have a day of". I'm sure they don't mean to sabbotage me but I just want to scream "Have you any idea how hungry I have been?" Really don't want to put this weight back on after it has come off cause I don't want to have to diet again!

Well I seem to be rambling. Better stop. Hope everyone had good weekends
