Games & Challenges 8 week challenge: Part Deux Aug 12 2008

Hello all, I'm excited to get started again! I haven't been too dilligent in the time off and am hoping to see a more constant improvement this time around. My starting weight is 172.4 this time and I am aiming for 155 in 8 weeks. My challenge to myself this week is to walk an hour each day, and then to keep that up at least 4-5 days a week for the remainder of the challenge.

Somehow, I'm at 169.3, which I think is good considering the holiday weekend, although that was Sat and I'm too scared to check again to see if I did any damage. I plan on being extra good this week to make up for it, just in case...

I seem to be at a stand still here. I was 170.1 on Sat. Frown I am definitely interested in giving this challenge another go, since I just started working out again, which I believe may be the reason for the weight not moving just yet. I just need to keep with it and I'm sure I'll notice an improvement!

Man, this stress at work is not helping the weight loss! I'm down to 169.6, but not where I'd like to be. Mondays here are so crazy, I never even get a chance to log into this site! Any advise for dealing with the stress of being overloaded at work, so I might still have some energy to be active once I get home?

I think I need this challenge! I was at 172.2 this weigh in.Undecided Not sure what happened this week, but it's definitely time to step it up! My plan will be to take the T to work all week, which automatically adds 45 minutes of walking each day, as well as working out for 45 mins to an hour at least three times this week. Hopefully this will turn the scale around...

Down to 168 even, very happy with that, just hoping I can keep it up.

Meggorama - I've had money issues throughout my life, so a couple years ago I ended up creating an Excel spreadsheet with a complete budget of income and expenses. I have every monthly bill and expense tallied and then I split the difference between what I'll allow myself for splurging each month, and what I need to save for unexpected stuff like car troubles. It took me a long time to hammer it all out, but now I glance at it a couple times a week to assure myself that I'm on track, and it saves me so much more time and worry in the long run. It's actually helped me to almost completely get out of debt! Not sure if this would work for you, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I'm happy with the fiber challenge, too, since I've never really paid any attention to the amount of fiber in my diet.

I've actually been too sick the past couple days to even go to work, but still managed to fit an hour walk into my busy (hehe) day filled with sleeping. Now my MD wants me to come in for a mono test if I get any worse. Man I hope that's not the case!

I'm going to try going to work tomorrow, just to kill the boredom. I think it might actually be healthier for me. The one thing I'm hoping to get out of this, is to keep off the weight I feel I must have lost over the last couple days, for lack of eating much at all... I'll have to try to eat more tomorrow though, so my body doesn't go into starvation mode!

I didn't update my weight this weekend, since it somehow stayed at exactly 171.4. Weird. I'm actually pretty happy about that, though, since I allowed myself to enjoy a few BBQs and beer over the weekend. I've stopped stressing when I slip up a bit, which I actually think helps me to slip up less, when I do.

I'm finding the water challenge to actually be a bit harder than I thought. I keep having to remind myself to drink, or put work aside for a minute so I can go get more water. So far I'm only on my third 12oz glass. I need 4 more by days end. I guess that's not too bad...

I hope the weather gets better. It's been raining lately whenever I'm out of work (I live in Boston), which makes it far too easy for me to talk myself out of walking...

One thing I've realized is how much I need to watch what I drink (even non-alcoholic). I've never been a soda drinker, so I thought I was fine, but then I read this: http://www.menshealth.com/eatthis/Unhealthies t_Drinks_in_America/1_The_Worst_Drink_in_Amer ica.php and realized I may want to rethink the VitaminWater I've come to love, or any other non-water drinks...

Hi everyone. I just joined the site today and was so excited when I came across this challenge. I'm starting at 171.4 lbs today, so I'm hoping maybe 170 by Sat (that might be wishful thinking, but I'll try). My goal will be 150 by June 15th. I'm so excited, and since I'll be trying to lose 1.4 lbs before Sat, I won't be tempted to pig out before starting the challenge (as I have had the tendency to do in the past...)

Walnuthill - I have FitFlops, too. I absolutely love them! They are so comfortable, and you can definitely feel them working. I also love my MBTs. They are a bit more expensive, but give such a great work out!

I love Week 1's challenge. I always try to drink enough water, but that will push me to make sure that I do Innocent

One thought on emotional eating: Lately if I have a craving for a particular food, I make myself walk just over a mile to the store to get it. Then, most of the time by the time I've walked there, I don't even crave it that much anymore and end up getting something healthier. If I still crave it, I allow myself to eat it (just a small portion), once I've walked the mile home...Wink
