I'm OK with exercise - I can run about 35 miles per week if I try - but I find it hard to keep my calories down as well.

Hi,

Do you mind if I join? I'm planning for the first three weeks, to lose around 1lb/week, then when school ends and I can work out a little more a day, maybe lose around 1.3lbs/wk. So I'll be aiming to lose around 12lbs. If I make it, I should be within 7 lbs of my goal weight.

Can you actually update my starting weight? This makes it more consistent since I'm going to be weighing at the gym with the same set of clothes.

I love kassava cake! But my mom makes it and I go to college now. T_T

I agree, I had a bad day too...but yeah when I was eating a ton of food (cheesecake, cookies, Cheetos), I did feel full, and although I felt full I kept eating...it was more psychological than physical or emotional. I didn't feel bad until after I got home from the party. But yeah...you should stop eating but if you feel hungry later on today, eat something. If not, just don't eat til tomorrow morning or when you feel hungry. Take a walk. Tomorrow do better.^^

Hi all,

I'm just a year younger than most of you at 19, going on 20 in November. I'm trying to train for a marathon on October 10, and in the process I want to lose about 20 lbs to get to around 105. I have trouble keeping my calories down, especially on the weekends..my sweet tooth is like no other. I think the only reason why I'm not heavier now is because I'm pretty good with the exercising part, not with the diet part. I hate my sweet tooth! I'm trying to curb it somehow but it hasn't been working.

I'm hoping to lose at least 15, at best 20 by August 31st.

Oh and about weigh-ins - there's a scale at the gym but I only weigh in with my clothes on..I feel a little self-conscious walking around naked, even if it is in the girls locker room. :P

I'm trying to procrastinate as much as I can for my midterm... :D

Hey guys,

I'm kind of new to this thread but not new to dieting. I'm a college student and I run daily. I just keep fluctuating within 122-126lbs because I eat more than I exercise...I really want to lose around 20lbs. I hope you guys could give me any tips and motivation to help me lose this weight. I find it really hard to watch what I eat when I got to so many parties, especially to overeat.

The last couple days, especially the last month I've been realizing that until I make a change and can get out of this rut, it will just keep going on and on. And I don't want that to happen because I'm tired of counting calories and getting on the diet wagon only to fall off a week later.

So anyway, I'm glad I found this thread and hope to finally control my food cravings.

Every time I go home, I make bad food choices.

Two weeks ago, during Spring break I erased most of my progress from the last three months. That included some loss of muscle and a few added pounds.

If I had stayed at a constant calorie deficit since the first time I started dieting, I would have reached my goal weight by now. But I diet during the week days only to erase my progress during the weekends.

I am 5'2" and haven't broken 120 yet, even though I've been trying for 1.5 years.

I'm similar stats but an inch shorter 5'2" and 2 lbs heavier (122). I agree, it's easier to binge on 1300 calories than on 15-1600. I think as long as you are active and working out, the extra few hundred calories should not matter. What exercises do you do? And maybe you should just eat a little less (1400) on sedentary days?

Hey,

mind if I join? I did weigh myself in on Thursday, but it was in the middle of the day and I was fully clothed and it came out to 125.6. I'll just weigh myself in the mornings but clothed too, is this ok by you guys? I usually weigh myself at the gym and well...don't feel like stripping just to take my poundage. :P Oh, and my goal weight based on that is about 115ish.

Hi,

Want to count me in too? I'm 122 right now, want to be around 110. I'm 5'2" and my ideal weight at 16% bf is 110. It takes me a while to lose weight (I lost 3 lbs in the last 3 months), but I want to be at my ideal weight by fall. That's twice the rate I was going at if I want to lose 12 lbs in 6 months, but totally doable, right? :P

Hey,

I want to go from about 122ish to 105. I'm 5'2". I've tried dieting for the past year and a half, but it's been slow..I used to be 131lbs, untoned, but now after a year and a bit I'm 122 after nearly 3 months of weight training. Pretty slow weight loss, I know..

Anyway, I hope to clean up my eating once and for all. It's really hard to try to avoid the temptations everywhere I look.

Oh yeah, I have no real goal date. I just want to lose some fat and see some more noticeable results. But I guess December 31st is my ultimate goal date to be in top shape.

Hey,

don't beat yourself up over the bingeing or the gaining weight. Just think about how you can change what you do so that you will be successful. You never know, it could've been anything that made the scale go up. Just think positive, losing weight has no deadline.

ccali-great job on the weight loss! 2.5 lbs is a lot!

As for myself, I think I added some fat over the past week, if at all. I don't have much time to do running this week, but I will go to the gym to do some weight training and then some running before I study.

Hope everyone has a great week and I'll check in tomorrow with a weigh-in.

chubbydodo - Hey, I feel you there. I've been binging a little this week too, it's really weird because usually before when I binged (like waay back, maybe 5 months ago), I would have put on hecka weight. But right now it feels a little more under control, and I haven't gained very much (probably 1lb or less, some of this might still be water weight). I think it's a little combination of I'm more taking control now, and I have more muscle which burns more calories.

I didn't do much exercise this week...well, walked everywhere for like hours but I was eating loads of junk food with my boyfriend in LA. (He's one of those people who tend to eat what they like and stay thin..) Anyway, I'm taking some measurements tomorrow.

I'm cool with the stats every week..the only problem that I have right now though is that I don't have regular access to a weighing scale. There is one in the college gym but I only weigh myself with all my clothes on..but I guess that's better than nothing, right?

This week is actually spring break for me, I'm going with my boyfriend down to LA for four days, so I'm not going to get much of a workout in. But starting Saturday I'm actually going to check in a bit more formally by taking measurements and all.

Congrats on the acceptance. :D

Hi, I'm interested too. This sounds like a great challenge. Plus I'm trying to get in shape by July 6th. It is a little more than 3 months from now, and it is a goal date for me.

History: I never struggled with weight very much, but I used to be a distance runner in high school. The other girls were always thinner than me, but I outran some of them, so I was happy. :) Although I gained weight at a steady rate throughout high school, it didn't bother me much until I reached college. By then I had gone from around 100lbs to 120lbs. In my freshman year of college, I started trying to diet; it failed miserably. I became a binge eater and was emotionally unhappy for much of freshman year. At one point I weighed at least 135lbs. I was bursting out of my jeans; they were harder and harder to put on. Then, finally, in the summer I started losing little by little. I signed up for a half marathon in November and a turkey trot to help motivate me to run. I lost continually and toned up a little. In January, I got a boyfriend, but he goes to a different college, and when I was visiting him I sprained my ankle too, so now I couldn't run, but I started going weight training. I started toning up, and went from my fluctuating weight of 125lbs for the last 8 months or so to 121-122lbs now. I just came back from spring break and ate some massive amounts of junk food and feel like I have undone most of my workout efforts. I'm trying to find a healthy, more normal way of eating and to get off the diets. I want to find a marathon in the summer to compete in because I'm thinking of running a 50-miler in October (:O). I'm also interested in doing a triathlon (olympic distance) within the next 10 months. I want to get down to 113lbs by July 6th.

Stats:

  • 19 years old
  • 5ft2
  • 121-122lbs

Goals:

  • Eat clean, healthy, nutritious foods
  • Eat junk food in moderation (no more than 100 calories a day)
  • Eat 75-90g of protein a day (1g/lb lean body mass)
  • Read Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle cover-to-cover
  • Love myself
  • 113lbs (give or take a lb for fluctuations), 16% bf by July 6th
  • Get in 5 meals a day; no more than 300 calories each for around 1300-1500 calories/day
  • Stick to my workout and eating schedule
  • Log my calories every day as accurately as possible
  • Take my multivitamin pill every day
  • Be patient

I liked your "emotional" goals, chubbydodo - I think I'll incorporate them too if you don't mind. :P
