So...what is the consensus?  Calorie count just decided that they had their burn meter too high so they changed it?

yaza~i hate to be rude and butt in where i don't belong, but maybe you could have possibly got your point across in a friendlier tone?  And not to single you out at all because I see it all the time, but I just read another post where someone was so disappointed by some of the unsupporting conduct that goes on here in cc.   This has been a very helpful website for me, but I agree that it is sad when people seem to be more critical than supportive.

Yes, I lost the weight before with calorie counting, but I just need some new motivation/ suggestions because before I was only eating 1200 cals and I think that sort of backfired.  The link for the deficit challenge would be great.  Anyone have suggestions for what you think my calorie intake should be?

Low carb could be considered many things, but here are some low-carb food choices that I like...maybe you will too.  Spaghetti squash is an amazing replacement for pasta...to up the cals you could add some healthy oils to it.  Also to make smoothies you can use protein powder and almond milk instead of yogurt and then add whatever flavors you want (fruits or nut butters to up the cals.)  Egg whites and egg beaters are wonderful as well.  I've even heard of people making egg whites a "sweet treat" by adding cinnamon or sugar substitute to them.

Weight Gain Swearing Off Junk Food: ED or Lifestyle Change? Sep 14 2008

For me personally, that fact paired with the fact that many nurses in eating disorder treatment facilities are overweight, turned me away from the whole thing.  I found someone who taught me how to eat healthy as a lifestyle.  Of course I CAN eat whatever I want, and I do have the occasional dessert or greasy food in moderation, but I want to treat my body with respect.  I think that nurses trying to teach these things are hard for people with ED's to trust though.  I personally feel strongly about them teaching a more healthy, but not rigid, way of eating and NOT forcing patients to eat junk food.  I think that is ridiculous.

You guys are doing so great!  I know there is not many of us left here, but it would be awesome if you guys would want to keep encouraging each other until we reach out goals.  My last weigh on Saturday was 125.6!  Woot!  I only have about 10 pounds to go...down from 143 at the start.

Weight Loss Damn damn damn. What do I do now? Aug 13 2008
22:16 (UTC)

Get healthy!  Like the first poster said...you can damage your liver by doing too much.  I had mono for about a month a few years ago, but the biggest problem for me was how tired I was.  My friend had it worse and ending up rupturing her spleen, so please be careful!  You should definitely call your gym though and I bet there is something they can do for you.  Mine will put the membership on hold for reasons like that and you can resume it at any time once you're well again.

I was 128.2 on Saturday morning, but I kinda had a crappy weekend so we'll see what happens this week.  Kla, did you mean to say that you weighed in on 8/11 instead of 7/11?  Don't feel too bad, at least you lost and didn't stay or even worse GAIN!  That is an acheivement in itself.  You can do it!

Fitness Knee hematoma - your experiences? Aug 11 2008

Sorry I have no advice for your knee, but I do know what it's like to be injured during your weight loss journey.  I broke my elbow about 4 weeks ago.  Everyone told me that was one of the worst bones to break and I was going to be laid up for a while...I was super disappointed.  Well it's only been 4 weeks my bone is completely healed and I have hardly any pain and am back to normal activity.  They say that exercise can even help speed up healing time.  Of course you do want to be gentle with the injured area.  I am a runner so I know what it's like not to be able to run too!  It hurt so much the first couple of weeks that I wasn't able to run.  The elliptical was ok though, and maybe that would be a good option for you since it doesn't bear so much weight on your knee.  I was also thinking swimming or biking might be better for you too.  I know it doesn't compare to running, but it's better than losing everything you've worked for!  I've found biking can be pretty enjoyable especially if you find some wooded trails and such.  Good luck and I hope you heal quickly!

Like Victoria said, you can measure.  Although weigh ins might be helpful, it's not absolutely necessary...and sometimes measurements can even tell you more!

Kraft makes a tuna-salad dressing.  It is delicious and only 30 cals per tablespoon!  Mix that with 1/4 C. of tuna, walaa!  I sometimes chop up some celery and onions too and put it in a whole wheat tortilla, low cal bread, or salad.

I just want to say that appreciate both of your posts...i really appreciated the encouragement and really did need that and i also needed some sound advice.  Sooo...I really don't think either one of you were right or wrong but i have to admit that I was glad that bluelou gave encouragement because it always seems like on this side people kind of tend to steer others in the opposite direction and don't really give them the support that they need.  I guess maybe thats in err of all the ppl with ED's and such on here but I think there are more healthy ppl than not on this sight and it would be nice if sometimes ppl would assume that you just want to be healthy, not obsessive.  I also have to admit that there are questions and issues I have that I would love to post about but don't because i know people won't respond with the support I really need.

Just know and be prepared that these days will come no matter what.  I am in week 6 of my weight loss and have lost every week fairly consistently but I still have these days.  Like lots of others have said, it helps to think about how you really want to spend your time.  If you don't do anything about it, you are GUARANTEED never to get there.  Unlike what others have said, goal dates help me.  I'm not super strict about it or anything but it motivates me to eat right and exercise knowing that each day I am getting closer to my goal and every decision counts.  Good luck hun!  You definitely have lots of support on this website.  Oh~and I think the haircut is a super idea!  It takes different things to motivate everyone...and there are healthy purges that can make us feel so much better!

I only weigh myself once a week; however, I have never seen a gain in weight from my period since I started this journey.  I make sure to drink enough water EVERYDAY, not just during my period and I have read in other posts that this helps too.  Just a suggestion!
