Only thing hydroxycut was ever good for was staying awake on Black Friday, and that's when it had Ephedra in it. |

Original Post by amethystgirl: ....and thigh adductions/abductions are about as useless as anything you can do in the gym. Not to mention none of them mimic any sort of real life motion or use any stabilization muscles at all. LIES! Lol. They're perfectly useful if you're conditioning for hockey, can't tell you how terrible my abductors/adductors are and how many times I had to pull them until I got the point. But, I think playing hockey is the minority activity here so... :P |

| Fitness | Why AREN'T you doing HIIT | Oct 06 2009 15:18 (UTC) |

Does a hockey game with only two lines count as HIIT? Lol. I played on Sunday until I thought I was going to throw up, and then I kept going til my legs gave out (thankfully at 0:14 in the 3rd period!! haha) I'm going to start doing more HIIT-style riding on my bike around the neighborhood. I do more high intensity riding as it is for distance and endurance, but I'm sure some serious uphill sprints will smack me back to reality in no time. Season's upon me... gotta train for the playoffs!!! Looking for a good set of stairs to run up and down too haha

| Weight Loss | Altering my caloric intake? | Oct 02 2009 16:04 (UTC) |

A modifier is a numeric representation of activity level in BMR formulas, such as Mifflin-St. Jeor or Harris-Benedict (I think CC uses Harris Benedict?). You plug in a certain number to alter your BMR to that activity level estimate. I wasn't accounting for my job in my activity level. I work in a retail store, but usually don't do much than stand up all night at cash register. My other job is another retail job, but I go up and down ladders a lot. That probably adds a lot to it. |

| Foods | A Cooked Breakfast... fantastic | Oct 01 2009 16:35 (UTC) |

My breakfasts are kind of boring. Two scrambled jumbo eggs, one white w/ skim (made in olive oil instead of butter, I'm not a butter fan anymore for some reason). I fried up some sweet white onions, minced garlic and tomatoes in a tbsp of olive oil. I put it all one a piece of whole grain toast and top with sriracha hot sauce (which I put on everything...). All in all, about 450 calories, maybe 500 if you presume the food sops up every last drop of olive oil. It's pretty dang filling. I ate an orange afterward today as a snack ;) |

| Weight Loss | What is this 1200 calorie bullsh*t? | Oct 01 2009 16:25 (UTC) |

I eat 1800 / day (upped it from 1400 / day since I got more active). Occasionally, 2000 - 2100. I exercise once - twice / wk with hockey practice and games, then I like to ride my bike 2-3x per week, so I just decided to use the "lightly active" modifier instead of sedentary and pluck my numbers from that. I lose .5 lbs every 3 days or so.

Original Post by watergirl: I don't know what conventions your local PIAS might use but here all used weight is $0.69 / lb including hex dumbbells. I can't guarantee your local store uses the same pricing, since we're all individually owned and operated. About $17.25 / dumbbell for 25 pounders. |

| Fitness | exercise before breakfast | Sep 29 2009 17:13 (UTC) |
10 |
I do calisthenics before breakfast, but usually do some cardio exercise (see also: cycling) afterward or else I bonk in the middle of my rides, which is never fun. I don't bonk terribly, but it kind of feels like all the sudden my legs go from 12 mph powerhouses to jello, and it happens quicker if I don't fuel my body at least a little before the ride (I bring a small snack like a nutrigrain bar for that extra blood sugar kick on the way home) Don't worry much about the timing of your exercise as much as your caloric budget for the day. Energy In VS Energy Out, make a good squared away deficit of around 600 cal and call it a day. Work out when it works best for you. |

| Foods | Birthday weekend eating..... | Sep 26 2009 14:51 (UTC) |

Ha ha, I sure did last night cardioqueen. We shared some chicken satay, thai style dumplings (had water chestnuts in them, oh god it was good)... then I had an eel and cucumber roll. After that was the main course, real hot and sour fresh mushroom soup, chicken and shrimp, noodles and vegetables hibachi style with a side of steamed rice, all topped with sesame seeds and served with a japanese style dip and a thai style dip. And two beers, we can't forget that, mmm. Then at home they made me cake!!! My brother is now addicted to crabstick, he's the most picky eater in the world and I somehow got him to try maki (the nori part made him scared) but he ended up thinking maybe it wasn't so bad after all. So he likes him some california rolls now. He made me have two pieces of his shrimp tempura roll too that little bastid' Anyway I had a good birthday, how about you OP?

It's my birthday weekend too!! :) We're going to this place, www.kenjifusion.com and I don't know if I'll be counting! Sushi appetizer platters, hibachi, thai fusion food... oh god. And cake. Sweet cake.
Actually I think I might count, because then I can track how my body responds to the spike in calories then the reduction the next day. Maybe I'll maintain. |

| Foods | how do you make your oatmeal? | Sep 22 2009 18:11 (UTC) |

I make my oatmeal with 2/3 cup of water and a dash of skim milk. (1/4 cup of rolled oats). After that's done, I stir in any of the following: - Splenda and Cinnmamon - Banana Pieces - 1 tsp golden honey (60 cal) I haven't tried putting any other fruits or berries in it, mainly because I hate squishy berries (frozen). I am also not a huge syrup fan. I want to try maybe stirring some semi-sweet (just a few!!) chocolate chips in as a treat occasionally. |

1. What is your preferred ice cream store, shop, parlour? I like a few around here. Chain-wise, Coldstone. Otherwise, Thomas Sweet in Princeton, NJ and Maggie Moo's in Robbinsville, NJ 2. What is your preferred flavour? Dark Chocolate, Pistachio and Cake Batter (dear god) 3. What do you typically add for toppings? Not much now, dark chocolate chips in my dark chocolate. But if i go all out, good god, peanuts, brownie pieces, bananas it's endless what my terrible sensibilities are capable of. 4. Do you prefer cones or cups, and why? just curious =) Cups. I don't like dribbiles. I kind of like the waffle cone cups witht he chocolate jimmies stuck on them. |
