You guys need to get mad at me when I'm not posting! I'm falling off the wagon. Too much late night pizza and snacking. I don't have a scale so it's kind of hard to keep motivated. |

Hey guys - just checking up! Congrats Heather! I've been taking a break from counting, as well...not sure when I'm getting back on it. My scale broke as well so I need to get one - Heather, how does your body fat scale work? Just out of curiosity, have you girls heard of the P90x program? Look it up! |

Okay guys - I'm not going to be around for a bit but I've got some stuff to share and I've got an exercise plan that we're all going to compete against each other in, if you want. Super20, first of us who reaches 20 wins. I'll explain later! |

On another note, do you actually have OCD??

I weighed in at 182 today, and my trendweight continues to go down. As for the alcohol, well, I think you guys will manage. I sure did. |

Alright. So, my weekend. It was like...I don't even know how to explain this to you. Some local festival, basically, so I've got **** for four nights in a row. Scale reads 183.5 this morning but my trendweight is still going down - now under 182. As of right now, I have twenty days left before I leave home for the last time - and I'm making them count. I'm going diehard with the gym and cardio - I'll put up pictures today to see if you can really make a difference in twenty days. Welcome to the newcomers. Wish one of you had a penis. |

Everyone wants a six pack. But it's ridiculously difficult to get and you need discipline. But here's the basics.
1. You will never have abs until you get rid of the fat covering them. Sorry. You need 12% body fat at the LOWEST to have them visible. Abs are just muscles that wrap around your core so they won't grow outward and become more noticeable and "bigger" like your arms will with weight training. 2. How dedicated do you need to be? Pretty dedicated. You need to make sure you're taking in less calories then you're burning - so a strict diet and lots of heavy cardio is the answer. Do your best to get your share of protein, too. Also very important. 3. Stop doing 120 jacknives a day. Don't train any body part every day - muscles need time to rest and repair or you'll just destroy your core. Do abs Monday - Wednesday - Friday, and do cardio on the other days. I'd get a couple different exercises to switch it up, too - bicycles, crunches, leg raises (use youtube. It's your best friend.) 4. So yeah. Keep losing weight, space out your training, and get more variety in your workout. Good luck. |

I'm not giving up on counting for the week, but I am taking the week off. I am hoping to get to the gym once this week, maybe even twice. Starting the week after, I have three weeks. So these are boot camp weeks. In those three weeks, I'd like to go to the gym 10 times, do three sessions of plyometrics, and 9 half hour sessions of Yoga. I'd also like to do 10 ab workouts. |

This is my first setback. I probably deserve one with my luck.
I have a viral infection, which may be mono. I'm taking the week off exercising, not sure if I'm going to diet. I might restrict my eating but not count calories, or something like that. Buh. Some Superweek. |

I put in NO effort all weekend so I'm with you on that - Heather: this is superweek.
Now, in the meantime, I'll probably way like...four pounds tomorrow. We'll see. SUPERWEEK BEGINS. |

Get involved in things you want to do but no more - take chances to see what you like, but don't stick with anything you don't. Easy on relationships, don't get in one for the sake of it. You should never be with someone unless you absolutely can't be without them. High school is fun - establish yourself with some good friends, have fun, let loose, and create memories. My greatest regret about High School is putting in as much effort as I did. Unless you're going to go for a scholarship, just do what you need that will get you into the college of your choice. I could have done about half the work I did - you never realise how not important everything you do in high school is until you go to university, and once you're there - that's all gone. Never to be seen again. |

You're about to get 15 people tell you that you're young to be losing weight, that 100 pounds is too little, etc, etc. But don't worry about it. It's great that you're setting yourself into a healthy lifestyle and you seem like you're being realistic and smart about it so great stuff. I'm only 20 yet CC applies fully to me and I get no crap from anything, but whatever. CC is not properly adapted to calculate a limit for someone your age - other sites can, although they're escaping me right now. Someone else will definetly know. 1266 is definetly not enough, though. I'm 90% sure I'd plug you in as "moderate". What do you do at work? As for exercising less, an hour and twenty minutes is DEFINETLY not too much. Not saying it's not enough, but you're in no danger. The older you get the more you realise your parents are right about everything but in terms of weight loss and exercise their worrysome complex kicks in but you seem to want to do this the healthy way. Keep exercising - definetly under three hours and take it from me, I used to sprain and pull everything at random, so STRETCH after. What I reccomend is to set your activity to sedentary and log everything specifically, then attempt to get some form of deficit - around 500 cals, no more. I'm not overly good with the youth calorie deal so anyone feel free to correct me. |

So, I had a great Monday and Tuesday for dieting. I also exercised (weight training) all three days this week and plan on making it five, plus a day of yoga. But anyway, yesterday, my buddy calls me at work to say there's a huge event going on at a local bar called Sidetrax (SO sketchy...but loads of fun - pretty sure it's the only bar in North America they still allow you to smoke in. I don't smoke, but it's an interesting tidbit) so I go out for some Wednesday drinking. I also made an AMAZING steak for myself that night - I'm pretty much the best barbecutionist around. Seriously. I've got a gift. Just sayin'. But anyway, I eat my dinner, go out, pound down eight beer, get to the bar, and throw down four or five diet coke and spiced rums. Whatever. That's life. So, I step on the scale this morning, and I've dropped two pounds. I weigh 180 pounds. Yes, I reached my goal after a night of mid week drinking. I'm starting to think there's a connection. I'm not stopping yet as I still want to trim my stomach for ab showing purposes and I suppose my next goal is to get my trend weight down to 180. Huge day. I celebrate by being hung the **** over this morning and get McDonalds breakfast to ease my troubles. It does. This will probably cause me to lose 13 pounds. *** Heather - body fat is a GREAT thing to do. In fact, it's so much smarter than weight. I really need to start that, honestly. Carrie - Buy some expensive sneakers. I'm spurging on the new Adidas Chelsea sneakers as soon as I lay my eyes on them.
all the best |

Yeah, it's a bit weird with all the girl stuff you guys talk about it but you guys put up with my ridiculous lifestyle choices so I can't complain. Not to mention I've had better results with you couple girls than I have at any weight training forum so it's definetly paid off even though we have ridiculously different goals. Once I get my abs where I want them I'm actually going to have to start doubling my calorie intake but I'm thinking I might just stick here with you guys. It'll be good to have a female opinion on my progress, anyway! Plus I'll love to brag about how I'm eating 3500 calories a day. Hahaha.
Great job Heather. You're crazy close. What are you going to do after you hit your goal? |

Ohhhhh man. Let me tell you about my weekend. Over the half half-week, my weight has went up - 182, 185, 185.5, around there. So anyway, what did I do on saturday to fix this? Naturally I went to every bar in my entire town. Me, my brother, my girlfriend, and a few more of my friends did a pub crawl - hitting ten bars from 1PM - 2:30AM. Some twice. Drinking at least a couple drinks at all - no light beer, either. Nor diet soda. I just forgot. I did drink a good few shots but it had nothing to do with trying to eat well. Not to mention my saturday eating consisted of: Breakfast: Tons of Bacon, French Toast covered in syrup, and a beer. Lunch: Greasy **** pizza from a local pizzeria (GIGANTIC slice) and a Dr Pepper. Supper: Mixed Bar Food Platter - everything from fries to onion rings to chicken fingers - everything. And two beer. Dirty little secret: I ate breakfast at 12:30, lunch at 5:30, and supper at 6:45.
WOW. So anyway, I wake up the next day sick as **** and have more french toast and bacon. Not sure why. I proceed to feel sick but can't seem to puke (eating disorder, here we come) and I give in at 9:30 PM and go to McDonalds and get a double cheeseburger meal with six nuggets on the side. I am an eating machine. So anyway, the next day, I go to the gym for an hour, I play a game of soccer, and this morning I weigh 181.5 pounds.
Live. Love. Life. |

6:30-6:30? Brutal. I stuggle with my 8-4. Rotating the muscles is near nessicary - there's a reason everyone does it. If you're having trouble with making sure you get to the gym, do a two day split instead of a three day. Maybe a day where you do "push" exercises, and one where you do "pull" exercises. I don't think you'll be getting enough exercise on each body part if you do them all daily - unless you go to the gym for four hours. Weird and awkward yes, but a common concern. If you work out chest once a week, light weight, high reps, I think you'll be QUITE alright. Remember - basically, 8-12 reps gains muscle, while over 12 is more of a toning effect. Girls are at risk to lose boobs when they're losing a lot of weight, which is the biggest thing. Very rarely do you see a girl who has a manly chest unless she's like...training for competitions. And you're moreso working out casually for aesthetics, so if you have that in mind, I think you'll be okay! Also, I weighed 183 yesterday and 184 today. My weight is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Must be entertaining. My diet and exercise has been great both days, however, so we'll have to see if it falls off. I'll probably weight 112 pounds tomorrow. Guh. |

It's your birthday, who cares! Hell, even when my girlfriend comes out (which is usually like...once a week, now) I let loose a bit. I think giving yourself a break is probably the key to keeping weight off. Heather - you should try to alternate your lifting! For example, split into three days - chest+back, legs+shoulders, triceps+biceps. Do that for three weeks, then switch it up to shock your muscles. chest+triceps, back+shoulders, biceps+back.

What do you generally do, for exercise?
Once I get down as low as I want I'm actually going to have to start like - doubling my eating to gain muscle. I think I'll stick with this thread though. I've done better on this site with you girls then I've done with any bodybuilding website, or anything. |

I was about to say, because that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Just because you're in the NBA, does that mean you stop practicing? No, even those who are doing quite well still need to practice to maintain and improve. It's not only people who are at a health risk that wish to do better. Everyone wants self improvement, and it's just as ignorant for either situation to lash out at the other. |

Diet, weight training, exercise, whatever - it's all about self improvement. You do want the benefits without sacrificing your sanity and quality of life. What's the good of being in shape if you can't go out and show it off, or enjoy it? I count pretty tight in the weeks and let loose on the weekends. I'm not kidding anyone, I want to get in better shape for social reasons, and I can't exactly prove anything if I don't at least keep up my social life. |
