hey ladies! Today is pre-Thanksgiving baking day (my family do this every year)... I ate a low-cal breakfast in order to eat a small serving of pie OR cake OR brownie. Wish me luck... Happy Thanksgiving! |

hey ladies! I've read everything. I'm still "off" this week calorie-wise, since work and school work is killing me (I'm the leader of two major team projects, one is a fake political campaign, the other is an ad campaign, one is due tomorrow, the other on monday). welcome back msn, shapie, muppet! I missed you all! dalma, it's amazing how we can fit in smaller sizes now. I went to buy some clothes last Sunday and made my last visit to Torrid... I got a size 0 dress there which was cute and in clearance, but everything else was too big for me and my new dress needs fitting adjustments. I'm not used to wear 10-12 size jeans and M and L tops. I think my ultimate goal could be a size 8 since I have a very large frame (a size 10 at 193 pounds, WTF?) but still... who knows, right? msn, I envy that you can be satisfied with light suppers XD. Dinner time is my failure time... I'm just too tired to count so I eat whatever that it's around. But it's in my 2010 to do-list that I'll start cooking on Sundays so I have frozen meals for the entire week. akela, I have the multiple Thanksgiving problem as well... kind of. Since everyone is going home next weekend, three very close friends decided to make their birthdays parties tomorrow... in separate events. I have a Thanksgiving lunch in Tuesday, but I'm not worried about that one since most of the guests are very calorie-concious the menu is very low in cals. Dessert is diet Jell-O salad with low-fat strawberry yogurt dressing. I'm spending Thanksgiving with my family and a friend is planning a post-Thanksgiving sleepover. The way I'm dealing with it is that I'll use the 3/4 rule. 3/4 of whatever I'm eating has to be low in cals. watchme, I <3 your "I'm not giving up!" attitude. You're a fighter! (And I also eat chocolate when I need an energy boost... damn you Milton Hershey!). ally, carrot cake!!! I love all cakes! but carrot cake is definitely top 5! |

hey ladies! I'm so stressed right now. Pre-Thanksgiving drama, school projects, work... everything seems to have a goal of pulling me apart. I'm cranky, half-counting calories, and missing my gym workouts. I can't wait for Thanksgiving Day!!! *sigh* But I'm still here! Reading everything you guys write ;) |

hey ladies! Yesterday I went for a late spinning class. I did one today as well and I'm thinking on attending a Pump class tonight. Maybe it's just pre-thanksgiving anxiety (turkey! mashed potatoes! yams!), but I just simply want to get used to work out during the holiday season. I'm off dairy, caffeine, sodas and candy for the next couple of days (doctor's orders), so I'm a bit cranky and hungry. And I would kill for a slice of cheesecake right now XD dalma, OMG! 40 pounds in 6 months! congratulations! are you going to give yourself a treat? mladdy, hope you're feeling better. Sleep well :) akela, glad you're pedometer is working now. Lol with the extra mileage. watchme, good luck with the apt hunting! akasha, at least you made it to the gym this time! next time just swap the chips for cucumber slices ;) |

after 16 months in CC, I just sort of know my basic food cals... so I just estimate them and usually I'm just "off" by 50 cals |

watchme, I took your advice and I tweezed my brows today. Granted, it was not relaxing, but now I have two nice and defined eyebrows. And thumbs up on eating under 2000 cals! dalma, I love the color of the dress! and way to go with the size 10 dresses! you're such an inspiration :) akela, I agree with dalma, the pedometer must be broken. Maybe is low in batteries... kathleen, way to go with the bike ride! I wish I knew how to bike... I never learned when I was a kid and now I wish I had. |

hey ladies! I'm feeling better today but I skipped my early Gym class since I still feel a bit weak. I hate feeling weak, so I guess I'll swap my gym class with a long, easy walk tonight. mladdy, take care! don't push yourself too hard. akela, I like gatorade but only in certain flavors like grape. For some odd reason the orange flavored one makes me sick. akasha, way to go with the new workout! hi frumious! watchme, glad seattle sutton is going great! and that you're back to maintenance :) |

hey ladies! I'm sick :S. I have a mild food poisoning, which I'm blaming on a glass of juice I drank yesterday. I'm at school right now but I think I'll skip my evening classes and go home to rest a bit. I haven't had anything to eat yet (the mere thought of food makes me sick) but I'm drinking tons of gatorade. akasha, glad you're back at the gym. :) ally, I agree with dalma. Weigh yourself in the mornings ;) watchme, way to go with the prepared meals. Knowing the nutritional value of each meal is awesome! dalma, lol with the body heat fogging your car windows! It happens to me as well, somehow my body is like a walking weird mini sauna. iwill, I like plain Corn Flakes since I'm more into salty things in the morning. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of honey or a whole banana, but only when I want a more filling breakfast. amocatte, I agree with akela that walking is an awesome newbie exercise. I used to do it in the mornings because I'm a couch potato and once I'm back home from school, I'm really really lazy. Also what helped was to divide my workout. If I wanted to walk 30 minutes everyday I did two 15-minutes mini sessions. To accomplish this I got off the bus one stop ahead of my usual stop and walked to my destination. |

hey ladies! I can't wait for Thanksgiving to give myself a break. Between work and school, I barely have time just to chill. I'm finally accepting that I need to start planning my meals all the time. Cheat weekends/ days are not making me gain any weight, but I don't lose either. On the bright side, as of today, I'm 193 pounds which is my lowest high school weight. I think I was 182 pounds once upon a time in junior high but my "official" lowest weight has been 193. I want to lose more weight, but I definitely need to come up with a strategy to fix my meals before hand. watchme, good luck with the new food delivery system! I agree with you that eating out constantly is a big obstacle in weight loss. Most foods are full with fat, yesterday I got a salad at school and eventhough I skipped the croutons and tortilla chips they give out for free, I asked for a small serving of salad dressing. I forgot to say the magic "on the side" words and ended up with a ton of lettuce leaves swimming in italian dressing. dalma, the dress is amazing! and great to show off your arms. I started Pump classes this week and they're exhausting. How long did it take you to see results while using weights? fallon, *hugs* we're with you girl! akela, I had a similar problem in a Holiday Inn once. The water was really hot at the pool, so hot that vapor was visible! ally, we're together in "I-need-to-plan-my-meals" boat now! let's make it happen! iwill, usually I pour cottage cheese first and cereal on top, so I can pretend I'm eating yogurt. Sometimes I mix it, and eventhough it doesn't look appealing at all, the taste is crunchy and creamy at the same time. I hate soggy cereal, so the crunchiness doesn't bother me. I also like eating fruit with cottage cheese, and I've used it in enchiladas and as a salad topping. welcome everyone new! |

hey ladies! Work has been crazy this week. I can't wait for Thanksgiving so I can catch a break. Sadly, I'm still exercising but not keeping track of my calories. I always start so good but mess up by dinner time. I'm seriously thinking on zig zagging calories next week, if I'm going to splurge on calories I rather have a planned splurge than this unplanned mess I'm doing. to all: thanks for the congrats! mladdy, glad to hear from you! akela, iwill, you know cheese is addictive. It has casein, which is a component that makes you feel good. I also love cheese, I can actually eat it for the three meals of the day and still be wanting so more. So I try to buy it in singles packages or buy low fat cottage cheese. I actually like to eat cottage cheese with my cereal instead of milk.

hey ladies! Sorry I've been MIA lately. Work, a bad cold, PMS and life itself took the best of me. I've been exercising but not eating well. So I'm stuck at 194. Still, I met some of my friends yesterday and they were shocked. They say I look thin, but I haven't taken any progress pictures lately so I've hardly noticed any changes. But, and this is a MAJOR but, yesterday I was trying out some clothes and noticed a nice pair of Liz Clairborne jeans. They didn't have a size 12, but they did have a 10. I decided to try it out just to see how much I have to go before I could fit in a size 10. Surprise! Surprise! I was able to zip them and they looked good, almost no muffin top!!! I'm still amazed at the range of sizes I fit now. Depending on the brand I'm a 14,12, (now a 10?) on bottoms and a XL, L or M in tops. The good news are that I'm starting not to care anymore about sizes and I'm focusing more on my health. Still, I hate scales, hate them so much because when I look at them I feel awful. I know that muscle weighs more than fat, and that I have a large frame but still, I wish I could lower my BMI. About Halloween: It was awesome, I dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood. :D about mexican food: My family is Mexican, so I have to watch out in every single meal. I usually get one serving of something I really like and have tons of veggies with salsa as a side dish. We're hosting a party tonight (for the Dia de Los Muertos fiesta), and I'm already craving my aunt's hot tamales, my dad's hot chocolate and the special bread we buy from the bakery for the feast. some useful swaps instead of guacamole... stick with salsas instead of fried tortilla chips... try baked tortilla chips Instead of flour tortillas... try corn tortillas instead of regular cheese... try cottage cheese About jewelry: I love earrings, but I struggle finding nice necklaces that fit me since I have a thick neck. Still I'm using more accesories than before. dalma, you look awesome!!! Look at those arms!!! I'm definitely going to sign up for Pump class at my gym tomorrow! You look great :) Congrats! shapie, glad to know you had a great time at the wedding. akela, loved the wedding pictures! and I'm glad you're back too.

I used to think banana chips were healthy. But no. They have almost the same calories as regular chips, and today I ate a whole large bag of them. 500 calories! I just couldn't stop, they were really good. I'm really really mad at myself. I'm mad that I know I could've stop but I didn't. I'm mad that after all the effort of eating a nice healthy breakfast, I messed up just before lunch. To make it up, I had to replace my carbs at lunch for lettuce and I have to track my calories closely for the rest of the day. *sigh* |

My brother was the one who inspired me to start this journey. Now, my mother wants to join a gym as well, and she has gradually improved her eating habits. In my case, the thing that called my family's attention, was that I'm doing this by myself and not by following a program or a fad diet. Also that I'm able to eat whatever I want, but just keeping portions checked. They used to believe you're either in or out of a diet, and not that is a lifestyle you learn to manage. |

hello ladies! watchme, I agree that you need to see someone to get some counseling, depression can come in many forms from mild to severe. I battled depression when I was 15 (I barely remember anything of that year, it was that bad), and what helped me was to keep a journal (so I could figure out mood triggers), meeting with a counselor, and finally taking some real steps to get my life on track (I switched to a new school and joined student groups to make new friends). Also, recently I read an article that helped me to deal with binges, even if I start one I'm slowly learning to stop it once it begun. (THE POWER OF THE PAUSE). It's okay to buy clothes that fit, to keep you grounded. Bigger clothes and smaller clothes just stress you. *hugs* UPDATE: (Just read kathleen's post) kath, I retain tons of water anytime I fly from one place to another. It last a couple of days, so maybe you were retaining water and now you're back to normal. :) |

hey ladies! I missed the pump class at the gym because I overslept. :S no equipment challenge: I'm walking much much more this week!and dancing as well :D shapie, imagine if your aunt was your own mother... as it happens to be the case for me. I didn't want a Quinceanera party (I was too shy at 15, attended a girls' only school, wore braces, glasses...) and decided I would rather use the money my parents have saved to buy a telescope and a trip to Europe. My mother used the money to throw me a surprise Quinceanera instead... She is quite a character. She even hosted a second wedding party for my brother... in which the majority of the guests were HER friends...

hey ladies! dalma, guys sometimes mess up big time! but you'll give him a lesson by the end of the year :D ally, I agree with dalma that you had a major epiphany. I recently was in that "afraid of the goal" phase (and I was 199 too!) until I realized I was being miserable not because I was yo-yoing but because I was mean towards me criticizing everything about myself. But now I'm slowly learning to be nice towards myself and my body. final weight in: 197 |

sharing challenge: I didn't read the whole book but I read the first chapter online. I really like the way she describes her attitude towards food, because I used to do the same thing. The smell, the texture, the pleasure you get by eating anything "forbidden". I can't remember a day in which my mom wasn't doing a diet, and she used to attend weight watchers too. So I relate to Dietgirl that way, because my distorted image of myself began at an early age while watching my mom yo-yoing up and down. |

hey ladies! sharing challenge: met! CW= 197 I had a very busy weekend. Yesterday I realized that making minor budget adjustments (buying bran cookies in bulk instead of one by one, stuff like that) I had enough money leftover from my paycheck to invest it on a gym membership.
