| Weight Loss | Is it true that, for women, their breast become smaller when they lose weight? | Jan 14 2009 19:36 (UTC) |

In my case, I lost about 25 lbs and went from a 38D to a 34B. I have to admit I was a bit surprised I went that low because I do come from a fairly chesty family. So I would say you could, but might not either. Really hard to say one way or another. I was actually really surprised when I shrunk though because through 2 pregnancies and nursing, I had no change, so really thought that was just my size. Oh well. I think I am still fairly proportionate, it was just a shock to get used to. |

First of all, you really are not eating a lot. Sounds like less than what I eat anyway unless I guess they are all really large portions. Anyway, in answer to your question. I would definately tell them that the weights have kind of been forced and that realistically you weigh less. That way you can be honest and not have to force it anymore. Obviously I don't know your parents, but I would hope they would understand. Good luck! |

It doesn't really sound like enough to me, but without knowing the size of the portions or other basic info, I guess it would be hard to guesstimate. |

| Maintaining | why do i freak out about numbers?? | Nov 11 2008 20:11 (UTC) |

I am with you there. My goal is 128 but had been hitting more like 126. So when I initially really got to 128 again, I kind of freaked. But then I gave myself a good shake and said #1: 128 is your goal so stop freaking out that you are actually that. And then #2: decided that the range thing was the most important thing anyway, so anything between 125-129 is just fine. It helped, so try thinking of it that way! Good luck!! |

| Maintaining | Do you eat your daily burn or weekly average? | Nov 01 2008 22:27 (UTC) |

I really think with maintenance, you need to really listen to your body. After all, it is something you want to be able to live with the rest of your life. Obviously in the beginning, you will want to still really monitor it. But really I find that if I listen to my body, it works out pretty much the same. If your body asks for more consumption on days you burn more, you can answer it. But if it doesn't, I don't force it. However, if on days I don't burn as much, my body asks for more, I don't sweat it. I suppose it is possible that my way does not work for everyone (I think that is pretty much a given really), but I don't think you need to think as much about it as you might think. Trust me, I felt the way you did when I was close to my goal. I was really scared about it really because I felt better with more set goals. But it turned out not nearly as tough as I thought it would be. You'll get there! |

| Maintaining | Do you eat your daily burn or weekly average? | Nov 01 2008 15:12 (UTC) |

I kind of combine them. I certainly do eat more on days I burn more, but on the days where the burn is pretty high, I do not attempt to eat all that and just catch up later (or earlier). Of course some days I do feel like I need that super high intake, so I do. I think just play with it and see what works for you. Good luck! |

I would say that you need to eat more for a bit so that your metabolism gets the idea. You are definately not eating enough to be doing that much exercise so your metabolism is likely holding onto whatever you give it. That is what I am guessing anyway. You might gain a little right away, but I don't think that it will stick and your body will catch up pretty quickly. I actually did not even get the initial weight gain when I did it, so you might not either. Good luck! |

| Weight Loss | BMI below 20? | Oct 17 2008 20:56 (UTC) |
20 |
I think it depends on the person. I would say SOME people could go below 20 and be ok, but for the most part, 20 is a good stopping point. Sarah1090, not knowing you, I can not say with absolute certainty, but I see your goal weight is 90 lbs and that is a BMI of 16.5. By anyone's calculater, that is underweight (a lot). Is that really what you want to do? I am just a little concerned about your goal. |

| Maintaining | Breaking night and counting calories? | Oct 07 2008 16:21 (UTC) |

For starters, I am so sorry that you had such a horrible night. Totally understandable that you would lose your appetite. I personally would break it up the way that CC tends to break it up, which is switch to a new day at midnight. Sometimes if I eat around 12:30am or so, I do add it to the old day, but for the most part, breaking it up at midnight just is the easiest way to break up days. Hope that helps! |

Original Post by christinalauren: I am not sure about how your weight works into the healthy range, but wonder if maybe instead of trying to lose more weight if the only weight left is in your stomach, maybe you just need to focus more of your exercise on your waist. Maybe losing another 5 lbs will help, but I would guess that you will still be stuck with the stomach being the part you are unhappy with. Just my thought on it. |

I realized after I posted that it is entirely possible that my age vs your age makes a difference in "healthy" weight. So although at my age, 110 is not a healthy weight, it could be at yours, I guess. |

I really don't think you should listen to anything that says that you need to consume less than 1200 calories. Also, 110 does seem pretty small for your height. Is that actually a healthy weight? I am only a tiny bit taller than you 5'5" and I know that I am not supposed to go below 118 (at the absolute bare minimum). |

| Weight Loss | Question about starvation mode | Oct 02 2008 05:44 (UTC) |

I have no answer for your starvation mode thing, but I am also 5'5" and weigh 128 and my non-exercise days are more like 1850. I am light activity, are you maybe considering yourself sedentary, because I am kind of guessing you aren't. Just a thought. I think you might be burning more than you think. |

Thanks! I think since the exercise program worked before and nothing much changed there, that we will leave that alone for now. But I do think it is possible I need to rethink the way I eat. Possibly I am adding the calories back in a bad way. Not sure I am, but something to look at. Also, I am definately stopped up (but not quite the way you mean). I am a week or two "late" but according to two tests I have taken, I am NOT pregnant. And I shouldn't be either, since I had my tubes tied. But I definately think that has taken a toll on my tummy area. Thanks for your advice, gave me some things to look at. |

I don't really have an advise, but I wanted to tell you that for some reason, I also tend to be slightly lighter after having a "cheat day" too. Of course it doesn't stay down, but it is kind of funny. It has happened several times. I have often also wondered if I should really be eating more. Hmmm...... |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Took the test | Sep 26 2008 20:44 (UTC) |
|
I have not been on birth control pills for quite awhile (not since shortly after having my 1st son 4.5 years ago) so definately not that. I have never had a false negative before (except when I took a test WAY too early). But I suppose it is possible. I forgot to mention in this thread that I actually had a tubal ligation about 3 years ago, so the likelyhood of pregnancy is pretty low, but still not completely out of the question. I sure as heck still feel pregnant and still no sign of AF, but we will give it a little more time and test again. I have to see my doc for a follow-up pap smear anyway, so I will just schedule that too and see what he has to say. I really don't do anything that would hurt a baby in the meantime, so a little wait won't really hurt (except maybe my sanity!) |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Took the test | Sep 26 2008 15:09 (UTC) |

I am on day 31 for an avg cycle that is 21-25 days long. I considered the possibility of a false negative and if I still have not gotten AF by Wed (my personal cut-off) I will test again. The Wed is my cut-off because that is the day I bring my baby clothes and maternity clothes to my annual garage sale. Need to know if I need to pull them or not LOL. But for now, I am going with the assumption that the test was right and there is something else going on. Who knows, maybe my body just wanted to little break from "normal". |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Is decaf okay?!? | Sep 26 2008 04:31 (UTC) |

doglady-ironically, my one pregnancy that I really had some morning sickness, was the one I miscarried. So just the opposite for me. The two that stuck, I really never got sick. I really don't think there is a correlation between morning sickness and miscarriage, but I guess only my experiences to go by. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Really not sure what to think | Sep 25 2008 22:51 (UTC) |

I checked the failure rate of a tubal ligation and it appears to be 1.4% (slightly higher if you had during a c-section-which I did). So not 0, but not real likely either. Hopefully I will know one way or another tomorrow (I will wait to test until morning to make sure I don't get a false negative). |

Drinking decaf should be fine. I actually drank caffeine all through my pregnancies (my doc said it was fine in moderation) and my kids turned out just fine. BTW-Congrats! I never had real major morning sickness with mine, some people just get it more than others. Not anything to worry about, but it might still be coming, so be prepared! |

I am 31, so I think menapause is completely out, I don't really know about early onset menapause or pre-menopause. I think I will just get a test, they aren't that expensive, you are right. I just checked at it looks like I am still pretty young yet for even pre-menopause. I think I will call my DH and ask him to pick up a test on the way home (too tough to convince all the kids to go out with me). His reaction when I mentioned I really felt PG was first of course, "well that would be a shock". But there, "What's one more, ha, ha". Edited: to add bolded portion |

I haven't done any sort of calculation as far as exactly how much this comes up to in calories (and mustard is something I never use, so I am completely clueless on that), but it sounds to be like it is not enough food to maintain by any stretch of the imagination. I suppose if you are using full calorie white bread and I guess the 2% milk bumps it up a bit. But it still doesn't sound like much for someone who is 6'1. I would say too that it is pretty low in all the categories you stated. My guess is you would lose weight on this, but that is just my guess. Hope this helps! |

| Maintaining | 1800 Calories? | Sep 19 2008 20:11 (UTC) |

I actually felt the same you did at first. But actually, I am maintaining just fine on 1800 or so. Although, I just starting working again, so there is a chance that I am burning more calories than I thought, but it is really working for me. Try it out and see what happens. There is a chance that the initial upage will temporarily make the scale go up a bit (although it didn't for me) but it should even out pretty quickly. Good luck! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Earliest Signs of Pregnancy? | Sep 11 2008 19:37 (UTC) |

For me, the very first sign all three times (that I noticed anyway) was acne. I really have never been prone to acne, but all three times, shortly before I found out I was pregnant I broke out into acne (and continued to every 4 weeks or so). Not exactly the pregnancy glow I was expecting LOL! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | how many months? | Sep 11 2008 19:31 (UTC) |

I think the correct terminogy is that you are 3 months, but you are IN your fourth month. Kind of like when you have kids, say one is 5 months old. He is 0 years old, but he is in his first year. Does that help? |

| Weight Loss | Difference between daily goal and the actual number | Sep 11 2008 03:28 (UTC) |

If you burn say 2000 calories and consume 1500, that would give you a deficit of 500 calories for the day. You need to have a deficit of 3500 total to lose a pound. The goal would be (in order to lose weight) to have a deficit of 500-1000 (which would give you a weekly lose of 1 to 2 lbs a week). Make sense? |

| Weight Loss | Breastfeeding twins | Sep 09 2008 21:33 (UTC) |

I am not entirely sure the calorie intake you need. I kind of breastfed twins (I breastfed one and pumped and bottle fed the other). I ate a little more than normal and did not exercise (any more than running after a two year old requires) and I did lose weight. Does this website give any "activity" info for calorie burns for nursing? I would really think if you looked on-line it would give you some information for free. Edit to add new data I just checked (very quickly, my internet is being really slow) and one website told me that the average nursing mother burns 600 calories a day nursing. Since you are not "average" I would maybe mutiply that by 1.5 (not sure times 2 would be quite right). You might want to search a bit more on your own, but that is what I found really quick. HTH! |

| Weight Loss | Can a medium framed person ever get down to 110-120? | Sep 07 2008 05:31 (UTC) |

That would be way too thin for a person your height no matter your frame. I am not even supposed to go below 119 and I am 6 inches shorter than you. So could you....maybe. Should you....I really don't think so. Just my opinion though. |

| Weight Loss | WHEN did it happen? | Sep 02 2008 19:29 (UTC) |
5 |
My weight started to drop the first week. I decided to jump right in and lowered my calorie intake (or at least healthier options, didn't really pay that much attention before) and started daily excercise at the same time. I lost at least 2 lbs a week for the first 7 weeks and then started to slow down. But am now down 26 lbs since the end of May, so not too bad. The last month or so I have bounced around quite a bit, up some weeks, down others and stayed the same other times. I know it can sometimes take awhile, I think depending on how much you have to lose, how healthy you were in the first place and how hard you work at it. Good luck!!!! |
